They require a credit card because they don't want people playing for free with no intention of playing beyond the trial and with no means of paying for it.

I'm sure they also require a credit card to prevent multiple accounts.

    ohhhhhh....well,that's usually why i play trials...lol.

will FF XII be a MMORPG,too? The reason i didnt know if that would be the last is cause i dont care about screenshots or vids...only the games themselves

HAveing to provide credit card detials also helps to prevent 733t and script kiddeis from joining, you know the ones who run around with stupid names like ||---------woot 733t roxor ------------|| , who just delight in hacking, cheating, PKing, Grieving , Camping and other pain in backside inapropriate behaviour., thus making proepr gamers online experience alot better.

Credit Card information for Free Trial subscriptions provides a solid and traceable method of verifying a person's age as well as a secure and dependable method of payment. Once your time limit with the Free Trial expires and you do not cancel your subscription it will automatically assume you wish to continue playing. As a result, they will automatically renew your subscription either into a one-month recurrent plan or an alternate plan, depending on the system. Money paid via credit card over the internet can also be immediately checked, so the company can provide its service instantly.

If you do not own a credit card and/or you wish to pay by an alternate method, many MMORPGs run a service through http://www.paybycash.com where you can pay either by check or money order. However, the service costs slightly more (due to processing) and could take several days while they process payment and manually activate your account.

Please note that credit card information you disclose over the internet through a reputable company is most likely transmitted and stored securely. At the moment, SSL 128-bit encryption through your web browser provides a safe method of payment over the internet. As of now there is no known method of cracking the encryption.

Minors (under 18 years of age) are permitted to pay and play MMORPGs with the permission of their parent or guardian. Further information can be found in the EULA (End User License Agreement) and/or Terms of Service policy that is openly disclosed through the particular game company.
