Ok, it was ment to be PVE Content, and after that PVP content but i pushed some button or whatever.

But it's ok, forget about pvp in this pull and make pve additions to pve content.

Atfer having played wow for close to 2 years, and then coming to DAOC I have to say is good to be home.

The game is seriously lacking a UI interface and character animation overhaul.I have read many post like many of you both on the wow forums on blizzard site and vnboards and here.I have to tell you this is by far the best game out in the market today when you look beyond the old ui and clunky character animation you have this HUGE behemot of a game with alot of PVE and a decent RVR(PVP) system is not perfect but is sooo much better that WOW.

I was lucky enough to do some end game raiding and encounter on wow (am a casual player) and I have to tell the three years that I played DAOC it never felt like a job.THere was no race to see who could get the epic armor or the best loot in game.I was raiding 3-5 hours every night..my repair bill was roughly 10-15gp per run..and am talking about the 40 man raid...

BUT...worlds of Warcraft felt like a job, if anything the first few weeks off launch the community was soo much more different that DAOC, they game was in all intend and purpose gear to younger audience, now this is not a bad thing BUT you run into idiots runnning their foul mouth among other shannanigans.

Recently I have read about changes to crafting system, am not very knowledgeable with DAOC crafting ..but I have to tell you DAOC is far better in some ways...ONLY a few player crafted items are good for end game..and even then the mats to created are worth more the actual item.I been out of the loop for 2 years but I can still remember getting player crafted gear and it was good for pvp/pve end game content thats not the case with wow player made items!

Am going to stick around for a while maybe into next year...for me DAOC had raised the bar how pvp and pve should be done and not some nice eye candy effects, and NPCs that have voices, or sexy of succubus pet.

Each game has it good and bads I just find it appaling to see people bash DAOC and say how much better wow is when wow is obviously geared to younger player based, and is a huge pit of a grind fest to get reputation and pvp rank (yeah I know they changing it...after 2 years of folks posting on the forums and asking for it..yeah Blizzard does listen to its customers...)

The idea of having bonux XP in certain areas is great thing to do I think this is a move in the right direction...wether they decide to milk DAOC for what is worth am all for it am paying to play and am haivng fun and it doenst feel like a part time job.

Thank you for reading my post/rant

I've always thought the crafting system was out of whack in the game.  Outside of trying to farm salvageable items you had to purchase pretty much everything.  Crafting each individual item takes entirely too long with too small of a chance to advance your skill at the higher level.

Animations and movement aren't bad, but I don't see it as much of a game breaker/enhancer so maybe I'm not the best to judge that.

The user interface could definitely use an overhaul.  It's old, clunky and not very new player friendly.  Especially when those new players are used to the UIs of other games.

There is definately no need for any new classes.  Races, as long as they are reasonably similar to existing races would be fine but not necessary.

Better graphics would just be lost unless the engine is completely overhauled.  The newer clients are way too laggy in RvR settings as it is (at least on my computer and quite a few other people that I know).

PvE content does not need to be added, the world is too much of a ghost town as it is.

Well that's my opinion, can I have my $.02 now? image

One thing DAoC needs is another reason to spread its low population even thinner, making the world seam even emptier, so PvE content is not needed. What we need is an upgrade to the existing game, making it more appealing to newer gamers. The UI should be streamlined, so that we aren't looking around UI to play our game. The character animations and movement is dated and is probably one of the biggest complaints among trial users. The graphics are actually fine for an RvR game. We are already struggling with high end systems to run this in RvR without lagging. I always liked how crafting worded, even though I never made it past 600 in any skill (I much prefer adventuring).

To the other person who played WoW for two years. I've learned not to let what people say about DAoC bother me, because people who bash DAoC over WoW are generally kids (ie. ages 12-22). Those people I don't care to play with anyways. Just think of it like that everytime someone compares the two in an immature and insulting way. Glad to have you back. I just returned from WoW also.

I'm also a DaOC-turned WoW-turned back player :) This game, in my mind, is a classic in the MMORPG world.  And for being an MMO that was released WELL before the recent explosion of MMO popularity, it still is revolutionary in so many ways!

I'm completely hooked again :D Already have a 50 Paladin, working on a Scout and Valk, and enjoying the hell out of my Mauler.  I'm also very pumped at the prospect of maybe rolling a Theurgist!

One thing I'd love to see, is to further update the graphics system for smoother gameplay and more fluid motions.  Also a UI update is sorely needed.  Faster levelling for the lower levels (5-25/30) would be nice, especially if those levels were sort of a 'tutorial' for a new player, and maybe a little harder advertisement push to invite more people to the game. But other than that, I will forever be a DAoC believer.

Glad you guys came back :D

Like many of you, I went from DAOC to WOW.and now I'm back... and a Hib no less... (tired of Albs/Mids)

Its been a real blast..and the leveling is so much easier, in less than a month I have a 49.5 vamp and working hard on getting to RR 5L0 in CV.  Also have a 42 Light Eld and 42 Bard... all on the Gareth server btw....

I really think I'm gonna pass on WOW's BC and just stay here until some other game gets my interest...(like WH)

Well lets see:  The next expansion is not for another year so I am
not concered about that.  I do not think they are going to add any
major landmasses given the huge amount there already is.  Perhaps
a new race but I am not sure about a class.  They did one this
time but it was given to all 3 realms.  Certainly there could be
another Mino class given to all 3 but I doubt it.

    As for the next patches:

Crafting is still being worked on so hopefully that will be done soon.

Since they did not finish all of the class updates I think they will begin that again in the next patch cycle

Graphics are great.  The only issue I see is with the limited character models.

The older zones have already been updated.  My guess is they will continue to do that over the next year.

So I think they have their hands full and will be working on a lot of
things that have been mentioned here.  However, I think the UI
needs to be updated.  I mean I have no problem with the UI since I
have been using it for over 5 years.  I think the numerous slash
commands are out of date and difficult for a new player to pick
up.  Certainly those that have played WoW oversimplisic game have
gotten used to that UI and how it works.  As long as I do not have
to give up the UI I have now then I see this are probably the biggest
thing that needs to be done to attract new players, espically if you
are trying to get some of the WoW refugees.
