The first great land grab will take place in the virtual universe of Project Entropia. They have made the following press release:
Gothenburg, Sweden - March 17, 2004 - Project Entropia, the world's only virtual universe incorporating a real economy with a convertible currency, announces the first great virtual land grab, scheduled for June 2004! Any person in the world who has a reasonably fast internet connection and a normal PC may participate in the land grab. Jan Welter Timkrans, CEO of MindArk PE AB, the company responsible for the development of the three dimensional universe of Project Entropia says: "This is the first land grab since back in the "wild west" era in the United States. Everyone is invited to participate in this historic event free of charge." Anyone participating will have the chance of becoming one of the first virtual landowners in cyberspace. The land lots will vary in size from a few acres up to hundreds of acres. A landowner will have the same privileges as a landowner in the real world. He will for example be able to sell hunting and mining rights, sell lots for private houses, etc. The new land is pristine and untamed and your survival will depend on your avatar's skills, attributes and gear. So get prepared. Project Entropia is a true virtual universe with over 100 000 participants. Project Entropia is downloadable at no cost from the Internet. The virtual world is an infrastructure for interactive entertainment, auction systems, community building, and social interaction; supported by a patent pending economy system with a currency freely convertible to real world currencies.

The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.
What the hell is this game about? I went to the website to check it out and there are pictures of dinosaurs and people with rifles. Is this a Jurassic Park clone or what.?It says something about using your creditcard to deposit money into the game. WFT??!? I thought that "THERE" was the only MMORPG game that used this trick. Then I went into the forum and people were complaining about not getting a plot of land or of people leaving their society for another because they had more land and peds ($$$ perhaps). The game just looked and sounded stupid. No wonder I've never heard of it. Has anyone been playing this game? I need to read some comments.
The novel approach to Project Entropia is that you can put money in your online account and withdraw it as needed. In other words, if you buy an item for $10 worth of PE currency and sell it for $50 worth of currency, you have just effectively made $40 in real money. The downside to this is that you start with absolutely nothing, so to really get started, you must invest some cash in your character.
I played PE for a bit when it first came out, but was not wont to invest a significant amount of ghida to get going so I didn't continue. Others did, however, and it seems to have a decent playerbase. It has been out for a little over a year.
I am a brand new player i have met many friendly characters on it and have made many friends as a result.it is enjoyable and when you persist you get a lot out of it as you can team up which means if your team kills a beast you share the loot it has a great trade system to trade between characters. i am thoroughly enjoying it and you don't have to spend money there is an area which gives out free PED (their currency) and a very loyal friendly fan base. Yes it may sometimes have server stability problems but it is a brilliant way to meet new people without having to leave the keyboard
