DAOC Official forums

Hi all,

I have looked high and low for the official forums at their site and cannot find any mention of forums, where are they?

    There aren't any.

We don't believe in spending the resources and money to run our own official forums and thereby forcing the community to congregate in one location. Instead I visit all the various fansite forums around the web gathering feedback and answering questions, etc.

I see, thank you for the prompt reply.

Btw, I spoke with a tech support from DAOC today (think his name was Chris), anyways, he was very helpfull in resetting my passwords and getting information on taking adavantage of the back to camelot campaign...I wanted to try it again after a few years away.

Heh, you can see the effects of one official community on the WoW forums.

DAoC has many different forums run by many different people, and everyone has their own favorites.  The thing is, all are equally as helpful, and instead of getting gobs of people in one place (which inevitably leads to spam, flaming, trolling, and just general useless junk to get to the goods) DAoC has a couple excellent resources for getting help from your peers.

This is obviously one of them.

Another more commonly known one is the Vault boards, just check out www.camelotvault.com and point your mouse-clicky-thingy to the left side of the screen on any of the community forums you're interested in.

If you're looking for something more class-specific, http://daoc.catacombs.com  has a pretty useful Character Builder 2.0, and each class has their own forums for discussing templates, specs, and RA's! [EDIT] And can be used to whine about Scouts :P

Well I must admit i had several problems while playing daoc last night...well I couldn't play.

    I have a monster system.

    amd 4400

    2 gig of ram

    1 gig Nvidia 7950

    SB X-FI

    10K spin h/d

Anyways, when I stand still its fine, but when I move the mouse starts to flicker and it gets choppy...within a 2 min span it kicks me from the game saying I have gone linkdead?  If it was a firewall issue, I dont think I could connect at all, and I am going to say that I have no other problems in wow. eq2 etc...

I asked a few players for advice and they said turn off your anti virus...I tried it, but come on...that just crazy having to turn it off, i could understand if I had a joe blow best buy machine, but this machine is a monster and is not slowed down by much (ok that was bragging, but you get the point).

Anyways, I uninstalled the game, but would be willing to try again if someone had a link to a known fix for this issue?

** Ok I just re-installed with the thought it may be the nic card set at 100 MB, I set it to 10 MB...still flickers even in the charector select screen***

I found the answer, I had been using a set of drivers from July due to a monor bug in wow.  So i updated my drivers and all worked AOK.  Unfortuntely I dont think I will be going further with DAOC, it just isn't my piece of cake I guess.  I found it too manual...have to type in commands for basic things that an icon could do...just picky I guess.  I will definately be try out your new game once it is available tho.

You might find that WH will also have quite a few typed commands.. Just can't create enough icons for all the command DAOC has.... you'd need 100 or so....

the important ones are all pretty much there....

Draco, go to the VN boards, that is where most of the DAoC players post and such.

Lots of helpful builds and templates on there.

Did you try making a macro for those commands?  It creates a button that you can put on your bar.

    Just type...

    /macro <button name> /command

Going to be honest about the macro thing, I guess I feel spoiled by wow...I just shouldn't have to do such things...probably open myself up to flames, but its the truth.

    Certainly
DAOC has a lot of /slash commands but most of them are in icon form
now.  Further, at low levels, I am not even sure which ones you
are going to be using.  The only ones I use are for typing in
specific chats.  Other than that everything I use is an icon and
almost none of those are macros.  The most i cna think of is that
on certain quests you might need to /use a quest item but that is
    it.

Aye, as Julian said, many of the slash commands have icons now (you'll see them in your Quest Journal, for example).

Additionally, MANY /slash commands in the game are already bound to certain keys (or key combinations).  To see which you have, you'll want to view your keyboard settings by typing /keyboard.  You can change them to keys of your own liking, if you wish.

I seldom have to use slash keys anymore, so I find myself wondering if you're doing things like: /sit, /stand, /follow, /stick, etc.  All of those kinds of commands have keybinds already in-game.

To the OP, I advocate giving it another try.
