Girl Sue's Mc Donalds for $200 Million?!

Rikimaru_XRikimaru_X Member UncommonPosts: 11,718
Ninja Sue's mmorpg.com for $200 Million. Why is this ninja suing, becuase a fellow member got hit by the banstick. image Anyway...

I just watched some discusting stuff. About that Mc Donalds in Alabama where a guy impersonating a Police Officer gets this chick to strip over the phone and stuff (Can someone get me a web link to this?). Well I think it's discusting, but for this girl to sue Mc Donalds for $200 Million dollars?! I think that's bull crap! I don't understand, but I'm really starting to see that people only sue for money now a days. It's all for the money and not all as much for the justice. That's what it seems to me.

Anyone remember the guy who sued M. Jordan becuase he looked just like him? Fat people suing fast foods becuase it makes them fat? Woman suing restruant for a fly in her soup? It's crazy! What's going on with people today. I know I see people suing for the right things, but to sue Mc Donalds for $200 Million?! Wow I really hope that will turn your life around. More like set you straight for life. image

Sorry, but that is my rant for today.

Do you know how much money $200 milion is too McDonalds?  Basically, if I have $50, $200 milion would be one-quarter of a cent.

Why side with them?  Why not this poor girl?

Yeah it's about money, not justice. Lame. One thing that really ticks me off is when people complain about medical injuries at get a payload from that, very uncool in my books- unless it really is a bad injury.

Like a woman I work with had her son come visit her at work. This guy was a real dink, he's my age and acted like a whiney little 6 year old. Although he was in a wheelchair, I recognized him right away, he was my elementary school bully. Anyways I found out why he was in a wheelchair, because a tree fell on his foot while at work. Sounded bad until I saw him get out of the chair for a few seconds then sit back down. image

I'm not talking about how much McDonalds have, I'm talking about why that much? Why sue for that much? McDonalds even stated about this stuff in the handbook.

You can't just attack corporations every time something goes wrong, a big part of the reason prices have steadily been inflating is because companies have to charge more to cover fraudulent lawsuits.  Having said that, in this case I think one is justified.  The girl shouldn't have been retarded enough to do all this shit, but the manager shouldn't have been retarded enough to believe it either.

The other employees obviously weren't too bright either.  This is McDonald's fault for hiring morons IMO.

What greater tribute to free will than the power to question the highest of authority? What greater display of loyalty than blind faith? What greater gift than free will? What greater love than loyalty?

I read the complete story, yeah she should sue McDonalds for 200 million or whatever she can get.  The Manager was on the phone with the "Police Officer" and over saw the whole thing.

It's not about being retarded it is about power.  If I tell a sales associate that I have evidence that they stole 20,000 dollars worth of merchandise, then I could probably force them to do anything to prove their innocence or avoid jail.

If the employee isn't retarded than he/she would know it's a lie, realize you have no evidence cause it's not true, and tell you to go fuck yourself.  I think my origonal statement still stands, not just cause of that, but because of the obviously outragous things they were asking her to do.  Over a...  purse?

I mean, let's say you did approach an employee and tell them "I have evidence you stole $20,000 in merchandise, strip nakes so I can search you".  Anyone, I MEAN ANYONE, with any common sense would know you don't have the authority to do that, and you yourself would go to jail if they reported you.  I'm sorry, but to follow those kinds of instructions, is just...  retarded.

Bare in mind I'm not talking about blackmail, I'm talking about someone honestly believing you're legit.  Threatening to report false thef claims if someone does do what you ask is totally different from what happened here - the girl actually believed this crap, and so did the other employees.

This incident was highlighted in a very good documentary about a doctor who did a study about power and following authority.

In the study he would have subjects in a room with a device that had knobs which corresponded to electrical pulses.  The subject was then told that there was another subject in another room hooked up to the device.  You could here the other "subject" (the one hooked up to the device) via speaker.  The thing is the subject hooked up doesn't exist.  His voice was pre-recorded with a slew of reactions.  The real subject was then told to ask questions.  If the 'subject' got them wrong, the real subject was to emit levels of voltage.

All of the subjects went along with it, even tho they could hear this 'person' crying out in agony.  If they argued with the doctor, he would say "this is part of the study, you must continue."  It would get to the point where if it were real, the level of voltage would kill a person 10x over.

The documentary used this study to examine the incident cited here, Abu Gharib and others.

I don't rember the name of the film, but it was very good.  Actually the name of the film was the same as the name of the study.

People tend to follow authority even though they know what they are doing is wrong.

This is something you have to see to believe.  If a subject walks into a room and I have a thick manilla file folder in front of me and a stack of video tapes beside me, and tell the subject basically "you stole 20,000," then the subject will be thinking:

"What is all that shit?  Is that the evidence that I took at all that shit?  How the hell am I going to prove I did'nt do anything, he obviously has some video tapes that makes it look like I stole 20,000 grand and that file is so thick with evidence.  Oh my god, I'm gonna need a lawyer.  I can not afford a lawyer I only make 7 dollars an hour.  What am I going to do, I do not want to lose my job, I do not want to go to jail."

That is what is going to be going through the subject's head, fear.  Not anger, not rational thought, fear.  If I tell the subject "Work with us and we will be lenient with you," then I would be able to have the subject write and sign a confession and probably even plead guilty in court because I would have worked it with the DA that the subject gets a reduced sentance if they plead guilty, probably probation and have to repay us restitution in structured payments.

Now I'm just a guy who works for a retailor, what do you think someone is going to think if they believe the police are involved?

This girl thought the police were on the phone.

Finally remembered the person who did this experiment, Stanley Milgram.  Was bothering me because I knew this.

The Milgram Obedeance to Authority Experiment.

You might also want to check out Zimbardo.  Basically Zimbardo created an experimental prison setting and it turned out sorta like Abu Ghraib.

Yes, that experiment was in the film as well.

You should really try and find it on dvd if you can. It was very well done and there is some great insight into the Abu Gharib incidents in particular.  Especially because of the Stanfords experiment which showed incredible simularities to Abu Gharib.

I think both experiments were on film actually (Think I saw them both in a 200 level social psych class).  Probably will get them one of these days when money is burning a hole in my pocket.

Stump discovered that the call was made with an AT&T calling card and, upon learning that the biggest seller of those cards in Panama City is Wal-Mart, he contacted local police for help.

Why not sue Wal-Mart too while you're at it, they sold him the calling card. It's hard to follow this story with all the phone passing, but what exactly was McDonald's part in all this besides being the only one in this production with more then $50 worth? It sounds like an elaborate criminal act that just took place in a McDonald's. Throw those involved in jail, the end. Forget the cash grab.

  • baffbaff Member Posts: 9,457

Why does MacDonalds owe her any money?

The share holders didn't abuse her. The manager did. Arrest and prosecute him. Sue him if needs.

I fail to see MacDonalds guilt in this.

What did a load of old pensioners do to deserve this girls getting their pensions funds?

Corporations might seem nameless and faceless to many, but that money all comes from somewhere and belongs to someone. It's not free and someone had to work extra hard to get ahead enough to save it.
