Yeah, I can win a CoH beta with 20 tickets given out, and lose an RYL beta with 2000. Oh well, I prolly got the better end of the stick till EQ2 beta.
If its true that when you drop a cat it lands on its feet or if you drop toast it lands butter-side down... what happens if you strap toast to a cats back and drop it?

How are winners chosen for these contests? Is it purly based on luck or on activity, rating, or something else? Just curious.

I win the long shot game in City of Heroes and lose out on the one I'd rather play (Risk Your Life) and had 50x the chances to win. I'd gladly give up my City of Heroes beta for a Risk Your Life account but I guess that's the nature of a random draw.
This is not in anyway a complaint as I am extremely grateful to win even one of the two and thank MMORPG.COM for that chance. Just seems to always be the way my luck runs though...

Well on can not really complain about random draws except one was proof for cheating.
What annoys me more is the preorder granteed accounts only sell to the USA. I got enough of the rubish either you treat us the rest of the world as equals I am not any more intersseted in our game.
It really a pity I liked the idea and that one can buy an Beta account thru preordering but you can stuff your ONLY USA there where no sun shines.

I was shocked that I won!
I logged in a half an hour after the tickets were drawn and my mialbox said 0 new msgs. I checked anyways and there was my winning ticket
I don't know what I will be playing now that Lineage2 has open beta comming just arounf the corner as well.

I didn't win either but I did win on RYL site the day before. So I've been happily playing. I've only won 2 contests on here and I apply for most, so it must be random for sure. Congratz to all that did win though.

Last 2 or 3 contest neithor did I get selected, so much for my five tickets.
When giving away beta accounts they want each account to go to someone who truly desires the account and has the time to beta test the game efficiently. They wouldn't want to give out 1000 beta accounts and 500 of them be to people who didn't even check their email because they were barely interested.

Uh because they make money from advertizing, so they want people to log in as much as possible. Makes sense to me.

At the time of this posting there were 45784 Members to mmorpg.com. Now lets say for arguments sake, at least half of these are inactive. 22892. Then lest say only a quarter of these log on every day during the run of the contest the for maximum amount of entries possible. 5723. With a drawing of 2000, your chances of being 1 of those 2000 picked out of a possible 5723 is 35%
