I'd play it, if it was done right.

This isnt the first time this topic has been brought up. I just cant figure how they'd to make a "wizard" world big enough for a mmo backdrop.

IF it did happen, I bet it would be more skill/spell use based than loot based lol. Just think of the loot in a Harry Potter mmo...doesnt sound like it'd work.

Inventing your own spells and adding new things to it like in Morrowind...now i think that'd be a huge seller point for the game. Along with flying mounts...maybe (maybe...maybe). And Raids, but not like in WoW or EQ. Not loot based, but maybe something to drive a player event or storyline forward.

Though how they'll figure out a storyline i have no fuckin clue lol, but the developers i think would have alot of content to think about straight from the books.

It would never be done right. It would be geared to 12 year olds for one and come with a lovely "G" rating. image

they already made a video game based on it and it was pretty bad.

lol, moron. Do you really think this is the first time this has come up? It's already been beaten to death by people who have read the books and accepted it wouldn't be feasible.

Yeah I can hardly wait for Harry Potter online, the playerbase would look something like this 80% are 10 year olds 10% are pervets and 10% are FBI?

    Ingame banter would be

     "OMG THAT BR00MSTICK IS U84H, U WANT 2 S3LL IT?"

     "Sure"

"HOW MUCH GOLD U WANT 4 IT?"

"Just send some pictures to my email address"

    "GR8 THANKS M8!"

"Ok I'll give you the broomstick after I've seen the pics ...... hey who's that kicking my door in. Oh no better hide the ..... too late no! Please no don't take me away, I have family and friends Jesus made me do it noooo"

"PWNED NOOOOOOBBBBBB, ROFLMFAO RAWWWRRRR LOL I PWNED YOU 13WS3R! BTW CAN I HAVE YOUR STUFF?"

I can't really see many MMORPG players over 18 taking an interest in a Harry potter MMO, although the market is getting younger everyday. Also the company making it would have to pay a large license fee, requiring them to make a good profit early on. Those kind of restrictions would put somone off making it, as apposed to doing some D&D ghosts and goblins thing with lower overheads and no strings attatched.

Who wants to have to answer to another company every quarterly and get grief because they think your MMO is preforming as well as the Harry Potter brand name should. Also if you do well then they will raise the expectations for the next quarterly meaning releasing expansions that must be paid for and milking the playerbase for as much as possible whilst putting the least effort in ***Cough** SWG/SOE/LA **Cough**.

But I reckon they could make it in the same way as Guildwars, I think that'd work better than the usual MMO style?

Not quite sure why you believe Harry Potter is aimed at the younger audience , the later episodes are a lot darker and deal with much more mature issues.Unless of course you think the Simpsons is aimed at kids only ! .

As for it not being feasible , your only limited by your imagination as huge Worlds can be created because magic really has no limits.

The only problem would be Class selection and Weapons as your stuck with Wizard & Wand.

P.S Wonder what a Simpsons mmorpg would be like....and who would pick Moe as a char :p

There's plenty of crappy mmo's already. Why base one on a monotone subject as "a school for wizards"? As someone said above me, there wouldn't be much choice besides 'wizards & wands'. Include broomsticks and you have Flyff with a theme slapped onto it.

I'd rather have Yet-Another-Stereotypic-Fantasy-MMO-With-Elves! (And god, do I hate elves.)
