Never liked Ryzom but I am surprised no one has posted this sooner.
Its a group trying to raise enough money to buy the Ryzom source code and art work.
Good luck guys.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

but i found a comment on BBC internet:

Ryzom GOT OWNED!!
Come on DDO your next to get owned.
Ryzom as a game is cool enough, gets developed in a pretty similar way
as other games, quite a few people enjoy it and play it, Nevraw being a
small french company it's not surprising they don't have the money for
developing more and putting up a lot of adds to attract the players
that actually do want something diffren that Wow, so no I'm not
surprised that Nevrax needs to sell either, I haven't decided wether I
think it's good or bad yet though, only time can tell
Dunno what will be a good solution, the open source version can either go brilliantly or horribly.
*hugs atys tightly* the feel of first open beta will always be in my heart ^^
*Brain down for upgrade, don't try to understand my logic, I don't...*
Open/Focus Beta to release :P. Ryzom had huge potetial and yea
some parts of beta were great, submitting bug reports and stuff
:P.
But i doubt ryzom will jump back from this, the product has been causing debts for nevrax for a long time.
Beta Tested: Lineage 2, Ryzom, City of Heroes, RYL, EverQuest 2 World Of Warcraft European
Truly Loved: World of Warcraft
I dont think it was "causing more debts". I think it was "not enough to get out of debts". But that's just me guessing.
I certainly hope the latter is the case, because it would be attractive to potential buyers if it was self sustaining - gaining a bit of profits. It just wasn't enough to pull Nevrax out of its initial development debts.
DDO in my opinion was a failure in itself. It was created after WoW was already out for some time, and the graphics they came up with were little to be proud of, in my opinion. I mean, that game out of every game I have played aside from Lineage II is the laggiest game out there (mainstream-wise). The controls are terrible and it's just downright hard to get into.
As for Ryzom. Ryzom is still quite strong and doing well since the purchase of Gameforge. I think I have seen more players than ever, because with turmoil brings company to gawk and find out whats going on.
The more people this turmoil brings in, the more will stay for the long run, making the game so much nicer; since it has such an awesome community.
While it is currently annoying with its downtimes during the transfer process, it is understandable and people are making the best of it.
Do us all a favor and keep your recruiting comments to places where they are needed, because they arent needed here.
As for jumping back from this. The game has and will completely be back in full force, maybe better then it ever had been since it has been purchased by Gameforge. It's obvious that Nevrax did not have the capabilities of making it a huge MMO, but with Nevrax + Gameforge I think this game is going to go somewhere.
On MMORPG.COM it is already much higher then most of the mainstream games out there. I think Ryzom will do just fine in the long run.
Lets wait and see.
I'm pretty sure he isn't a fan of DDO from that post. I'd guess Vanguard actueally.... no accounting for taste
He stuck out his tongue...
The post got removed because it got totally out of control.
It was I who got flamed to a crisp.
Further I'd say the important thing in Ryzom is using the community. Got any questions? Don't hesitate to ask anyone, most people are more than happy to help out (the community is stunningly amazing!). Need help with a mission? Ask!
This is THE sand box game set in a alternate fantasy world. If your curious about the game I'd recommend downloading the trial and see for yourself, and maybe read up on the world and the community on Ryzom.com.
and most are happy coz it didnt get "freed"
(and in this I will note ryzom would not have been free to play just freed into the hands of a total opportunist company)
gogo gameforge
I never much liked Nevrax from the very beginning of Ryzom, actually from early beta. Now that Ryzom is free and being developed by others, I may try it again. I always found it to be very interesting, but just didn't get too involved because of the very bad first impression I got when the game was first released.
By the way, who IS developing Ryzom now? Did folks actually raise all the money needed to buy the code and stuff? That's great if they did, and I am glad to see this mmo is still alive. Now if only someone would buy Dark and Light and rework it into something decent.
