good dirt on Vanguard betas

I learned that preorder box allows access to the Beta 5, which is no sooner than January.

Also Beta 5 is called "open beta" although it is more accurately non-NDA massive closed beta that does not allow everyone in unless they preorder or are somehow sent invitations (thats still a ton of people). It is not an "open beta" in the sense that anyone couldve downloaded it from fileplanet. Not everyone will get into it. Do not count on fileplanet allowing access.

So those are the specifics, in case anyone is interested. Tonight I also read from dev posts that beta 4 should begin December and beta 5 (so-called open beta) no sooner than January. Specific beta dates are going to be announced later this week.

Note: Vanguard "open beta" is actually open-NDA beta, meaning NDA is lifted during beta 5.

Thats the dirt! I'm excited to get out of World of Warcraft finally...

    I haven't seen any devs post about when Beta 4 and 5 will start, do you have any links?

    Sorry, but your time-table is a bit off. Beta 3 is still going on, and I doubt they will skip Beta 4. I'd expect Beta 5 to hit in Febuary or March at the soonest, with the game to launch shortly after.

    the game is set to ship to pre-orderers at the end of january, this is an actual hopeful date. while beta 3 is still going Sigil is hoping to move through to the "open beta" stage much quicker once beta 3 closes. The pre-order box doesn't allow exclusive rights into open beta, only those "eligible" i believe it says will be allowed in IF there is space. Granted i agree with the poster above that the hopeful date is going to fall short and reality will be Q2 of '07

    I guess they ran out of money and SOE won't give them more.  Hopefully they'll figure something out to extend the beta.

    I recieved my email about the preorder today.  It does say it includes a beta invitation for eligible participants but does not expand on it.  The preorder boxes were suppose to be available yesterday but the store I ordered from still does not have it in. 

    Here is what the email says is in the preorder box.


    The pre-order box includes the following:

    • Early access to the game! Log on and get a jump start up to three days prior to the official launch!
    • A special account key that will grant you a unique exclusive in-game scroll, allowing your character to sprint for longer periods of time due to an endurance buff (one per account).
    • An invitation to the Vanguard: Saga of Heroes beta (for eligible participants).
    • Guild Mail – a fun recruitment tool to help you build your guild before launch!
    • A king’s ransom of assets, including videos, wallpapers and screenshots
