  You need to make your Job Advancement and then you will be given 1 point
  
  This is what to do:
  
  1. Click 'k'
  2. Press the up arrow next to whatever skill you want
  
  
  
  I'd recommend one of the two bottom ones on the list

  As a theif your 2 main stats are luck (damage) and dex (Hit ratio, and doging)

  The way I decide which ones to put em in is simple, Go to the armor shop,and look at the req's for the next armor.  This helps keep your point spending on track.

  Btw, Strengh can be added for damage also.

  Better pick what 2nd job you want too (assissin or bandit) and raise your character accordingly.Good idea to read a guide or 2 so you know what you want to do for the future
