in City of Heroes

Could anybody tell me if or when there will be an open beta test?

This game looks really cool and i would love to test it!

    Yea it starts April 8th...lmao would that not just piss off all those people who bought preorders.

    Not really, there are several other reasons to have bought the pre-order box other than beta, in my opinion, the 3 day headstart on the live servers is MUCH more of a perk than getting into beta.

    To tell you the truth, I don't even know if they will have an open beta.  That would defeat the purpose of them trying to sell their pre-orders.  So, I think they won't have one.  If you want to test it, you'll probably have to pre-order it.

    I'm not disagreeing, I don't think open beta is in CoH's future.

    But lineage is having an open beta, and they have a preorder as well, so there's still hope for those holding out:)

    I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

    There is gonna be an open beta its on the announcements on the main site...but open implies them lifting the NDA its still gonna be selected at random...where as those who preordered are gonna be in period and those who wait and hope for open have a chance but no garuntee...

    Not really, closed Beta testers know what types of chars can do what.  They know where everything is etc.  So by the time the 3 day head starters figure out what char they really want, us beta testers will be long gone, even if they did manage to get a few preorder beta days in.

    i'm shure 21 days will be plenty of time for the people not in beta yet to learn all they need to know. The headstart will still give those of us an advantage over people that haven't ordered. Rember all pre orders are in on the 7th the game goes live on the 28th.

    Well I'm in closed beta and have a Pre-Order cd-key for the 3 day headstart, I know what I want to play and what powers I want, but 3 extra days are 3 extra days. I also want to reserve my name.

    You are correct in that assumption.  Three days is 3 days to develop your character ahead of all the n00b population that will be in influx after the release date.  I'm hoping to have my name reserved as well.

    Skuboi, I just checked the main site and in the forums and it has been posted that CoH will NOT have an open beta.  Sorry to get your hopes up.

    U would be wrong there cause i just signed up for open beta at the Coh site. On april 8th they will pick people from that pool to get into it so there is a chance you could get in.

    Thats not an open beta, thats a public beta invite. They'll stoill be picking and choosing and not everyone will get in, generally on an open beta you don't have to "apply" you just download the client, create an account and play.

    Public beta sing ups allready started. Here is the link: http://www.coh.com/news/item205.html . They will invite, does who registered, in April 14th. Hope that helps.
