Man it seems like Vanguard has exploded within the last few weeks, with the pre-order box coming out...I think people are getting a little too over-excited, there is still A LOT of work that needs to be done until launch, if they launch it on the day they say(end of next month i believe) I think that people are really going to get their hopes up, this game is not ready for launch within a month. I bet SOE is doing the usual on Sigil which is pushing the game out before it is nearly done-then try fix it while people are paying...that's what they've done with almost all their titles. And try and get it ready near the holidays.
Comments
1) They haven't said when it will launch.
2) Brad has said it will launch when ready more times then I can count. It was originally scheduled for last Christmas.
3) SOE has no say in when it launches, as stated in the Sigil / SOE FAQ.
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
In case what MX13 said wasn't read the first time! Don't believe the dates put out by your gaming vendor, heck even the dates put out by the developer and/or publisher aren't right most of the time. It'll be out when it's out.
No one knows when this game is going to be out officially, disregard anything you read unless it is from God himself. I also don't believe the game would be released prematurly with a ton of forseen bugs and exploits. They will release a good product, however, the question is when will they release it?
I find it better to listen to the vendors about when products will arrive, at least more so than a developer. GameStop says Pre-Orders ship on 1/29/07. If they actually hit that date is anyones guess, I remember when the game was suppose to be done last year.
As to waiting a few months...count me in as one who will be setting up shot on day one.

If you dont like it, Dont read about it or "warn" others about it.
In my opinion, The game will release almost done, like every other game you will find a bug in it somewhere.
It wont be a major bug, and it will prolly be resolved within a short period of time.
This game will be old school, it will be time consuming, it will be large, it will be grinding.
Im just waiting for it, and i will see if i like it.
Im hoping for a great game!
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
Being a gamestop employee, I take slight offense to this. I seriously doubt in my store, that someone is better qualified to talk about games especially (MMORPGS), then me. Honestly. I only work for the enjoyment of talking about games to others, not the pay. Discount is fine, but the store is on the high price end to begin with.

Not sure if you guys realized, but the Pre-release sales will give Sigil a little more funding to finish up what isn't finished, because I'm sure they were running low on cash.
I doubt the game will disappoint, especially if you don't expect it to like.... cure cancer.
They have said when it will be launched, Q1 2007.
Q1 is from January to March, companies like Gamestop are guessing until there is an offical release date, they have to put something so they guess.
MMORPGs are never ever finished, its the nature of the beast, they continually evolve. At some point someone has to say, thats the starting point, I have every confidence they will not do anything to damage the game.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

Well he said many, not all. I've been to my fair share of Gamestops, EB Games, and Babbages' to understand where he's coming from and agree.

Id on't agree with the McD's jab, but for the most part what he said is true. I had a great relationship at the old EB Games I was by. The staff were all gamers, and passionate about it. Then I moved, and the EB by me is staffed with sales monkeys. They don't care about games & players, they care about selling and being 1337. It's not that way in all cases, but in far too many it's true.

I take all my advice from Best Buys and Future Shops.... They seem to be the most credible and know exactly what they are doing. They almost sold me on a super gaming celeron machine for $500. They said that this machine would be perfect for all online games... though... they never heard of Vanguard or didn't know what an MMO was. It even has a drink holder that pops right out of the tower! I believe he said that he used to play subspace and could get great resolution with 58 fps. He also tried to sell me a car stereo that I could jimmy-rig to my new pc with a sounblaster 16. But he kept on pushing the 10 year warranty on my computer. I couldn't help but tremble about the fact that lightning could strike my house at any time and fry all my hardware. I think the $500 warranty is definitely worth it. YAY!
But seriously, I respect EB games. They always spend the time to give their own personal advice on a game and they seem to be very honest if they really haven't personnally experienced a game. I will only purchase a game from EB since I am a loyal customer so keep it up EB game employees. You seem pationate about what you do and what you represent.
P.S.: Best Buy and Future Shop are only good for practicing your dodge skills as you try and get around commission sales people. (not even sure if Best Buy is commission based but it really seems like it.)
Vanguard Im willing to try it and give it a few months.

Ya'know, sorry but I have to pipe up about this too. I've worked part time at a Local EBGames for 2+ years now.
No I'm not a genious and of course I don't know absolutely everything about the gaming world but I take a damned active interest in making sure I know what's going on and what's comming up. I go 150% of the way for my clients and I've worked my ass off to build a really strong customer base over this time.
I love gaming, I love gamers and I've done my best to make all of my customers as best aware as possible, I really don't know what else people could expect from clerks who barely make min. wage and get treated like crap all day long.
If you both want to be so ignorant and generalize people like that, fine go right ahead but I've met alot of the guys and girls that work in the other EBGame shops in my city and I have to say that around 90% of them are just as passionate about the job as I am.

What part of "I had a great relationship at the old EB Games I was by. The staff were all gamers, and passionate about it." do you not get? Our bad experiences are just that, EXPERIENCES. Is it the case all of the time? HECK no, but it has been for myself and many people I know. You may not like it, but there's NOTHING ignorant about it.
I miss my old EB crew. I used to buy all of my games there. They eraned my loyalty with honesty, helpfulness, knowledge and great attitude. I sent them dozens of customers, and one is even in our clan. He agrees with what I've said. It's all to common to find those selling games not caring about the games.
