CCP isn't anything special. Like SOE, EA/Mythic, Farlan, NCSoft, and all the others, they only care about money. They only care about players, the fansites, and everything else only insofar as it helps them make money.
I'm not trying to say that CCP is more slimey than other MMO providers. I'm trying to say that CCP is about as slimey, money-grubbing, and dishonest as any other MMO provider, ie, pretty damn slimey.
They are not worthy of the pedestal their fanbois place them on.

Produced a quality game that fits a certain specific mindest/vision
Stick to it and don't let it become corrupted (like SOE did with SWG)
Communicate frequently, clearly, and honestly, with the players.
Continue to provide a superior product (In my opinion) to the rest of the crap out there.
Would I love to see something better come out? Sure... EVE just like every other game has it's flaws. But right now? I think EVE deserves #1 (except in PVE.. I agree that is a little wacked but I'd blame it more on the fact that other MMO communities don't really care as much about their world as EVE players do about theirs.
One would also note that it wasn't a dev or even a forum mod (who are just player volunteers) who posted the thread. It was a player. A Moderator (Volunteers) stickied it.

PvE in WoW is as great as it is meaningless. That is the problem here. In EVE, you know why you PvE and you know it helps you later on in the game.
EVE PvE might not be as good as PvE in EQ2, but it has it's perks. You dont feel like you are doing it for nothing, like WoW felt for me pretty soon after level 30. I saw through the whole stick and carrot tactics of WoW. Everything you get is easily achievable by everyone else in the game--except for that horror raiding is. And if you get a really cool item at level 15, you have to throw it away a few levels after that. You level so fast, every accomplishment becomes meaningless and when you are at the max level, there simply isnt anything to do anymore.
The point is, PvE in EVE is a meaningful part of the game, which people CAN but dont have to enjoy or take part in.
PvE in EVE is neiter forced on you, nor does it devalue your previous accomplishments.
that makes it more fun (and then a very EVE centered expression, unknown to the WoW community) IN THE LONG RUN.
That said, I nominated EQ2, but EVE is the better choice than WoW. by far.

I have to say, I'm amazed by some of the "logic" the eve fans come up with to defend a game that isn't being attacked. If anything, I'd say stacking the poll is hurting eve because anyone with half a brain will see that when eve wins the PVE category, it calls into question the rest of the categories that eve should win legitimately. Everyone knows that its done by CCP to gain free advertisement. What dev wouldn't do that? See that list to the left? the VAST MAJORITY of them. Users reviews and pollings concerning this company can no longer be expected to be fair or unbiased.
It seems a shame that the developers of CCP seek to actively ruin the efforts of other MMO players and online communites such as this one, for their own personal financial game.
What they have done doesn't deeply upset me, but it shines a bright beam of truth and realisation on all the disproportional attention Eve has been receiving on this site.
dont't worry about the reader's choice awards, since they're only about which game has the most followers (on there forums). Just wait till editor's choice comes out..
I must say I voted EVE in PvE, Why? Because wow PvE sucks balls 1-60 is a joke and raiding is just painful. Eve PvE while being as dull as paint drying does mean something in game.
People claiming eve players have stacked the votes are stupid. Maybe eve players are just more into the mmo community and as a result have a larger impact on the poles. Wow being kiddie crack has managed a key demographic of idiots and children, which I would expect to be less interested in the mmo community generally.
You can cry all you like about Eve winning this and that... but as a game it is the best mmo I have played.
Eve does appeal to PVPers/Industrialists(PvE?)/Mission runners(PvE?)/Griefers(PvP) its doesnt appeal to power gamers which might be why so many people quit after they work out they cant be king of the universe by next week.
Overall eve deserves whatever accolades it gets... If the eve community is more committed than others that must say something positive about the game.

I agree, but EvE isn't the only game doing it. I seen Vanguard posting a link to the contest on their front page, and I am sure they aren't the only one. I am sure several members have taken the liberty to post a link on their MMORPG's forums aswell.
Eve deserves whatever praise it gets. the Community in Eve is one of the best, if not the best, I have ever seen and therefore most likely has more of an impact on some of the polls. PVE might not be the greatest thing ever but it's something to do in between the awesome PVP
Being a niche game makes the praises that much more rewarding don't you think? So I say GO EVE Definitely one of the best games I have played.

No. They are the exact results of the individuals that voted on this site. Period.
My hat goes off to the great marketing department at CCP. Undercut a lot of other game companies because CCP was on the ball. Each and every award is bragging rights. They may not be as big as blizzard but while blizzard plays on its reputation, CCP is building one.
Oh, and I do not play Eve anymore and certainly did not vote well for it in this contest. But I will watch CCP as a game development company. Guys got drive.
