Is there going to be any more startgate movies? With this game comming out MGM has to see that stargate is a hudge ordeal and can profeit alot by bringing it back.
Sadly, I don't think so. SG1 lost a lot of its appeal to many when Jack was written out of things. Atlantis will probably go on for a few more years but I would doubt that it would reach the 200+ episodes that SG1 did.
I tend to think this game won't be a huge success. That's not to say that I have any ill will towards it. I really hope it's successful and more importantly, fun, but I don't see it being anything more than a niche game for SG fans.
SGWorlds isn't very likely to cause a revival in SG1. While I think it will be a nice game, I also doubt that it will be a huge hit past the hardcore fans such as myself.

I have to say I agree with apocalance. I dont think that this game will be a bit hit... Im basing this off of of what ive heard abouti t so far...
However, if this game goes in the right direction (Skill or Hybrid style) and perhaps even somehow ties the game in with the series, then yes I think it might just increase veiwers and bring hte show back... OR every one will hate the idea and the show will get canceled anyway....
Its really tough to say at this point
Never insult a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
Then you'll be a mile away and he'll have no shoes.
i dont think that will happen. star trek released films of the enterprise e and ds9 and voyager, the products are star trek armada, elite force, away team, dominion wars, star trek commander, starfleet command 3. hell there is even another one coming out to dedicate all captains. star wars also had thier fun with jedi knight, tie fighter. and so many more. the point is sg-1 is in its old age and the longest running sci-fi series in the usa, but well behind doctor who's 33. because its in its what... 12th season it will be too late really, unless sga can pull something big up. and i mean big.
The odds of it bringing it back are pretty low although, i really hope that it will while doubt it..... : ) i love SG-1 it pwns but yeah, as many others have said, it ran out off fuel when jack was cut off the team!
As much as I'm rooting for this game to be a great hit, I doubt it'll bring back the SG-1 series. They shoulda left Jack in command of the SGC, and brougt beau bridges in as annother role / chain in command, with out him it's just not the same show.
Oh well at least Atlantis continues, though i doubt it'll have the same staying power of the original.
ps- vote for the Wraith to be included as a player option
SWTOR. Face it, in the Scooby Doo Mystery Solving Van of coolness, this game is Velma. In this current MMO climate it has about as much chance for survival as a group of inquisitive teenagers in a 1980s slasher flick. -Tardcore May, 2011
I voted yes, but not because I think it will revive the series, but more because I hope and wish it. I love Stargate-Sg1, from the first season to the last, with or without RDA (with was better, but yeah...)
ya when they wrote jakc out and brought in the two ppl from farscape ( big fan of that too) i was a bit confused but i did like the change, i think they should tie the end of the tv show with the start of this game. as for fan base most gamers look for a challengeing fun and rewarding game , if this game has those in it i belive it will draw gamers to it regardless if they are fans or not
Sg1 is over but they are on contracts to make 2 straight to dvd movies the first of which wuill tie up any loose ends from the ori storyline. The second will wrap up sg1 completely
SGA will go on for quite awhile and the producers actualy plan on making it last longer then Sg1. I dont think it will but its what they plane which meens.. proboly not a solid ending it will just eventualy get cancled..
I have to agree with just about everyone else here. When Richard Dean Anderson left the show it did take a turn for the worse. I just finished watching season 9 on DVD. The first 4 or 5 episode were so so.. But it started to pick up at the end there. And the final episode of the season left me wanting more.
However, the "Jack O'neill character was the glue that stuck everything together for me in the show. I think they did a wonderful job in casting the main character in SGA. He has many of the same personality quirks as RDA does and pulls it off fairly well.. The new guy in SG-1 to me seems kind of redneckish.
There have not been a great many games that have translated from the big screen to the MMO world very well. And I don't think this is going to be any different. I think the fans of the Stargate movie/shows etc will enjoy placing themselves into that world, however I don't think it will draw the attention of what a WoW, EQ type crowd.
You never know, they could come up with something fresh and new that could make it a hit. That's what I am hoping for.
Nah, sadly not SG-1 In its pure original form. But I've heard some info about what I might think could be a spin off around Season Four of Atlantis. Amanda Tapping is coming to Atlantis for their fourth season, and a third show has already been announced on Gate World.
Hehe, I don't expect a game to resurrect a serie; but it isn't impossible. It all depend on the scope of success of SG- the game.
It is also possible that a new version be done, sometimes it is hard to get the actors accomodated; that would be a lot more likely. But as everything, when you start with new staff, you never know how it will turn out before it is nearly completed.
For all we know, maybe they have a "Luke"-complex and this is why the season is not coming back. I have no idea and we are left out of the relevant info. So we will see, in time, as customers.

I would lOVE to see SG-1 get pulled from the fire. I know I for one was disappointed when RDA (Jack O'Neil) left the show for personal reasons but Ben Browder did a pretty damn good job pulling the team back together.
This game sounds like it is going to be fun, if they follow not only the SG-1 but the movie story line, toss in an Atlantis expansion, or heck even better (An cheaper for us) have it there already. My only fear is the whole Radding, Grinding, getting bored aspect. These are the reasons I stopped playing EQ, EQ2, and WoW. 40 people go into a raid instance, 5 MIGHT get loot from Hours of Hours of fighting and dieing, just to do it again and again and again. In the end the one that is lacking in the real life department is the one that banks in game. I hope that they can come up with a different approach then that...
