imageI should smack you for that WoW comment. J/K. But anyways, if you were a doac player, then you should have faith in Mythic.Like I've said before, a company that runs on one mmo for how many years? Must have made that one mmo damn good. I have complete faith in them.Anyways around five, six years, were gonna forget war and move on to the next hottest thing.

I think they can pull it off, they tried so many diffrent things with daoc bad and good I think they will just take all the good and put it into this game

I also see this game being very diffrent from WOW in every way(besides graphics image)

I think players who have played or read a little of WoW will realize when they sit down to try WAR out that they are in fact completely two separate games.

I forsee many WoW players attempting to try this but get fustrated when several of the WoW functions aren't transgressed over into WAR. They'll cry, bitch, and moan and maybe even succeed in giving this game a negative review/stereotype. Personnally thats fine with me because I think I speak for everyone when I say "GTFO." We're all smart enough to know where their sources and background of MMO's lie and to compare WoW to WAR is lunacy.

Mythic will do a fantastic job and WAR will be a great hit!

OK! Let's TRY to get this straight.

World of Warcraft COPIED there looks from Warhammer

The first edition of the game, Warhammer 40000 rouge trader, was published in 1987
It has had the same look's and concept ever since, more or less.

Some of the creators of World of Warcraft prolly have played the game alot when they where little or they just got inspired by the looks of it.

This is a picture from 1987, it's close to 20 years old

This is one set of the figures that you could play with. There are alot more of them looking alot more close to wow grafics aswell

So!, When you start to play Warhammer online. Remember that it is a Title/Concept that has never stoped selling for 20 years. And even in my little town we have a store with a basement FULL or Warhammer board game items.

Warspine, no need to say things like that in this topic, no need to say it at all. WoW fanboys wont listen anyway.

This guy only said it looked like WoW, that has nothing to do with who copied it from who. Well you can't argue with the fact that both games have some similarities, duh, they're both fantasy games with some the same races.

anyway, wanted to vote no because I think WAR will be even better, but to not make some guys in here cry I just voted yes ;)

I doubt it Im an old time UO player and so far the newer games cant hold a candle to UO, DOAC heck even SWG in the beggining.

This game has nothing to do with Warhammer 40,000, which is a SF game not a fantasy one. This has to do with the Warhammer Fantasy world, which rogue trader was not part of. The first edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle actually came out in 1983, so it's older than you're implying here anyway.

Who the hell cares about graphics. Mythics only way to true success with WAR is to get great RvR. Its hard to pull off , no doubt. I think that daoc had freedom in its time to make a few "poor" design choices that made the PvP so great that they cant take today. Time will tell.

Mythic bought UO a several years back, their first major patch was publish 16 which forced a good portion of the core population to leave. The next patch was AOS, which in essence turned one of the few skill based mmorpg's into an item-centric game. Every veteran player including myself left.

Mytic did to UO what Sony did to SWG. Trust them at your own risk!!!

Now he's comparing mythic to sony and calling them as distrustful. Why does he hang out here?

I voted no, because I am not impressed thus far , by both the visual quality and the RvR system. Don't get me wrong, I love the DAoC system - probably because it is, in concept, less complex then the WAR approach. All these different types of RvR-scenarios, I just don't see it. Sometimes simpler is better, more involving.
Visual quality concerns for example, how the dwarves are more gliding than walking, because the bodies are extremly out of proportion ( I know, I know - Warhammer artwork, but still...) and that they dont look like they are actually wielding 2-handed weapons. Not believable,.. hard to explain.  Probably because I prefer a realistic over a comic-style approach (which I think is possible, even with the Warhammer art).

(Some of the above things are probably still subject to change, but if I am asked for my opinion, it is of course based on what information is available at the moment).

I think you mean "EA bought UO" which is the company that acquired Mythic as their MMO branch.  Which is now officially EA Mythic.

Mythic didn't have anything to do with UO.  Not sure what you're talking about.  Mythic made DAoC.

I'm so glad some one pointed that out before I had too.

EA has stated it has failed at MMO's thus far, easiest way to get a great MMO and succseed EA style?

Buy a MMO company thats done a great MMO already and is regarded as still one of the top MMO's out there

Then give said company a bucket load of cash and tell them carry on put EA infront of your name and were going to take some of your profits.

    And thank god for that!

If i could i would give a huge ammount of resorses to Mythic to continue making games. But hey!
EA took care of that :)

    Im happy about it.

We'll see. But no matter what, no matter how fun it is, Mythic will ruin it somehow.

I think Mythic will do a good job. Hopefully GW will not alow them the balance jumping and shifting betwean OP classes to force people to reroll and stay longer ingame.

My most concerns is with GOA running the EU servers. They SUCK!

With the massive influence WoW has had on the mmo market, things look grim for future up coming games. No matter how much people hate it, you can't argue with the success of WoW. As games follow suit and introduce more instancing and neverending PvE treadmills, the smaller the chance of seeing fan favorite PvP games becomes.
