Announced a few days ago VG is currently in phase 4 and looking better than ever. I woulden't be suprised to see a January 29th release.. (If so I would be a BIT concernd..) I would hope for march, imo and alot others that would be the perfect release month.

wow thats good news, next stage is beta 5 and the NDA will be lifted. that coul be in 2-4 weeks.
as for the wow thing, the expansion will only hold them in WoW for 2-3 months, then they will be sick of it.
or it will "ruin" the game for a lot poeple

I agree, it's about 6 months from release, if they stick to their guns, but once you factor SOE into it, then I can only assume they'll push it out the door before it's ready.
How can the game be unplayable? You've heard one thing...I've heard the other. Sure, their might be some bugs in the game (all beta does), but from what I 'hear', the game runs ALOT smoother than it used to. But I will agree, the game is far off from a release, I would say between March-June we will see it on shelves.

The game is about 8 weeks from realease at most. I'd even go as low as 6. They won't push themselves. They'll get plenty of subscribers no matter when they release. I can't wait for the NDA to go away.

Everyone just relax and take a deep breath. I can tell you exactly when VG is going to be released...when its done! All this guesswork doesn't really accomplish much except to pass the time until you can start playing it. Those of you who are ripping the game sound as though you want it to fail, I think you'll probably be disappointed. And those of you who are waiting in wild anticipation, don't get you're hopes too high, there's a good chance it still won't be as good as your first MMO. As for me, I am in the camp who is looking forward to the game. I'm trying not to expect too much from it, because I have been disappointed before by other new releases. But I certainly hope it surpasses my expectations.

Well, I've "heard" from a reliable source that with the pushback, the game is only due LIVE in May. Not before, not after. It was scheduled for March LIVE, then 1 month pushback the first time making April LIVE, now 1 extra month pushback meaning May LIVE.
Betas' may wrap up way before then.
Gold will happen maybe 3 weeks before LIVE and will most likely contain the Beta 5 Final client/content.
LIVE will be at least 750MB of patches to that stated above.

Oh well , at least i can now subscribe to EQ2 or EVE with no hasitation...

SOE release date? 1 week before the WoW expansion, wether the game is running or not. Hey, they did it with EQ2, why not Vanguard.

I would say 1 week before Burning Crusade is released.

Yeah, it's hard to know who to believe. I mean just look at how they always play with dates to keep us gessing. One thing for sure is that I have preordered, and my preorder is only being distributed Jan 30th. SO, that is also an indicator of how exactly far the release is.
Another really good indicator is that they (SOE AND SIGIL) will not release until they have at least 5000+ users on a cluster to test the load balancing, handoffs, failovers, and recoveries. It just wouldn't make any sense; financial or logical. That means a solid 30-45 days of Beta 5.
Mind you guys, I just basing this on past experiences with beta runs. After 8 betas I'm starting to see the patterns; well except those failing ones.
