I'd say try it out, there should be a free trial you can download. I'm not sure if there's one for mac but there should be on there site. If this is your first MMO then its a good place to start. Quests and leveling is easy. Just be prepared when you hit 60 the game changes and your forced to raid alot, at least until the expansion comes out in Janurary, then you can level again up to lvl 70.

7 million people tend to think its worth it. Just download the trial and see for yourself.

The more you level the less fun it gets.

You would probably enjoy WOW. It's a fun game especially for recreational gamers. ANother really nice mmo that has a MAC client is Minions Of Mirth... Hardly anyone has heard of it but it is highly rated, is developed by a small US team and has features alot of mmos dont have. There is a great free trial, and if you like it, the game is only $30 US and no monthly fee. They update the game continually and the player base is freindly. Either way you'll have a good time on your MAc.

In the time that I did play WoW, I had probably heard about 10 million Chuck Norris jokes. Te thing I don't like about this game is the grind. The end-game experience in this game is incredible. I would still be playing this game, if it weren't for the fact that I had to go back to the towns, and had to hear the non-stop kiddie spam. Overall, this game is awesome, but it does take a while to get to level 60, now 70. This game is also Time consuming, and demanding. I would honestly not want to leave the house to go have a nice family dinner, because it would mean missing my MC, BWL, ZG, or AQ raid (These are end-game encounters, that require 20-40 players in one group "raid" to accomplish (Best Part of The Game IMHO). This is a great game, but if your reading this and are thinking about joining consider the cons.

Get the game if you want to be hamster on a wheel. WoW is just a carrot on a stick game that even a trained ape can excel at.

WoW was a great game a couple of years ago, but there's better games on the horizon and I really can't recommend starting from scratch in what will soon be a last-gen MMO, unless you really need something to tie you over.

By all means get the trial. I played it for about a year but I eventually quit. It was fun while it lasted.

In regards to the post about the number of people playing WOW, those numbers are inflated. Over 5 of the 7 million are accounts in China, around a million in the US and a million in Europe.  Plus those are the numbers of accounts, in China they have some weird rule were they can only play so long on an account so they will have multiple accounts to work around this.
