oooh, purple >.>

I noticed parts of the site interface are purple colored, it looks just sooo much better, make it all purple!

    Oh. It was blue last night. That's odd. Perhaps they're changing the color scheme already?

    I like the new design, but a lil more dark could be good ^_^

    We toned down some of the overly saturated colours and excessive blue today.

    The problem is, pretty well all the graphics for this site were developed on a nicely colour calibrated CRT monitor, which compared to todays LCD monitors with such high contrast rates, isn't as bright.  Whites are white, were as on many LCD's whites are the glowing inferno of the sun.

    It's a hard balancing act to find a happy medium for all monitors, since they vary so much, especially LCD's.  (I have yet to date to see 2 with the same colour, and any match a CRT)

    Sit in a normal lighted room and turn on a flashlight, no big deal. Turn off the lights, and the flashlight is booming, and if it's colored, it's REALLY colored....

    You have a black/dark background... so it's like being in a room with the lights out. So for the entire site, everything you do with color is more accentuated than if you had a site more towards the grey in color-space. You really need to preview your site with a 1000:1 contrast ratio LCD.... and feel the pain. Your site was kinda tough to read before, now it's just a black screen with tons of animated ads, icons, colors, bright lights... essentially unreadable.

    Aren't CRTs heading out of vogue? Is that what you should be designing the site for? (I don't know your user base that well, but it's been 7 years since I've sat in front of a CRT monitor)...

    EVEN the yellowish text for the game list on the left here is tough on the eyes with a real monitor. If I turn my brightness down to zero, I can still easily read everything on your website, but if I was to play a game at that setting (wow, eq2, etc), then I would just see a black screen. MAYBE you could do a little more work and make the color scheme user configurable? At least for the forums?

    I didn't know that about the different monitors.. Anyways, I have LCD, so it's a killer for my eyesimage

    I actually don't like the purple. I think I liked the previous blue better than this purple. Or maybe make it gray? At any rate, the purple just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the site or other blue.
