Well, I've been testing Dungeon Runners since the first wave, and I have to say that is has come a long way from what it was back then. They have added some features, and re-arranged some of the content to make it more user-friendly, but the game is still not worth playing in my opinion. Here's why:
1. The top-down camera angle is clunky and they have no intention of changing it.
2. The game is some weird combination of Diablo2 and WoW. (The style of D2, and grqaphics quality of WoW)
3. Combat is annoying and requires you to click and hold on targets that are often moving and jumping.
4. You can only be a human male or a human female.
5. There are only 3 classes.
6. There is still an extremely limited number of maps. (There were more in Diablo1)
7. The spells and particle system are that of Ultima Online (low quality)
8. Character customization is almost non-existant (a few faces and hair styles is all)
9. Not enough armor and weapon variations. (again making everyone look the same)
10. The only opportunity for PvP is a proposed battleground/arena that isn't implimented yet.
I think this game is going to do nothing but bring in a few bored foul-mouthed kiddies who have finally tired of WoW. For the avid MMO player, this game offers nothing to sink your teeth into. It falls below the bar in every category, even for a free MMO. And for someone who isn't that much into Asian MMOs, I would have to say I would rather play Silkroad, or wait for 2Moons than waste my time in this thing. The graphics and sound are weak, the quest system is tiny and uninteresting, and the combat is an annoyance worse than the original Diablo. Feel free to rebut on any of my comments here, but if you've been in and out throughout the testing, I would imagine you've seen the same...

And I have no rebuttal to the above post whatsoever, in my opinion it sums up the game perfectly.
Ill maybe get some angry replys about this but i was sent the email to recommend others to beta test, I didnt respond to any of the forum requests for beta referral because, basically, I dont hate anyone enough to inflict it upon them.
Even my 8 year old so thought it was 'stupid and boring'.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I have only played a lil biot.. got to level 8 so far..
My impressions so far are as follows..
First, I know this is beta.. I also know that the current version has the word Final in () which leads me to believe no major changes will be made soon.
There are 3 Worlds to choose from.. each one creativly called World 1 2 and 3. Each world shows a percentage of players, which apparently has some form of usefullness that I have yet to understand.
Logic would suggest that each world is a server, that each server has a population cap and that the percentage is based on that pop cap.
However.. i have found that your one character can log into each of these worlds. And that the "worlds" are all the same. I dropped 2 items on the ground.. switched "worlds" and found those items still on the ground.
So my understanding of the worlds is now.. at a loss.
As far as game play goes.. its Hack n Slash.. pure and basic. I love HnS games. But so far.. this game is lil more than basic HnS.
Items in the game do not follow any logical sense. Meaning a Green named level 9 two handed axe could do less damage than a white named level 5 one handed club. Some armor that looks like metal plate has less defense than armor that looks like leather.. etc etc
So you have to keep on your toes and examine each item with care.. dont get excited about that green, blue or yellow item until you have studied the stats.
Most players I have seen are warriors.. i have not tried the mage or ranger classes.. yet. One thing i noted was that even though i am a warrior.. it appears that i can train in mage and ranger skills. Not sure if that is intentional or not.
I honestly wonder if this game being an MMO is benificial or a crutch. I honestly have not seen anything in game to suggest there is any benefit to having 100's of other players in the game with you. There is no Auction house, no PvP, not even a group system that I am aware of.
However, there is lag, random server disconnects and the like, which is part of beta so no foul there.
As I stated,, I am like level 8 so far.. I am hoping the game will move closer to something cooler than HnS in bare caves as I level up.
This game has alot of potential still.. so don't give up on it. but I feel in its current state only a few will bother with 4.99 a month to play the unlocked version
This topic kinda sums up my point about NDAs/BetaTesting/free riders..
DR is a F2P game thats currently in beta and people are expecting P2P quality polished content already? Yes the game 'lacks' stuff, it's a Diablo rip yes, it's repetive content.. I'll agree to all this but geez guys can you wait until it's 6 months into gold before you judge a game 'crap' and rip it a new one..The game could completely change before that time, this has happened before in others why not this? From what I know so far from their offical forums is that they are currently listening to the actal testers and have changed a LOT of the game's content since alpha..
what your doing atm is kinda like going up to a newborn and deeming them stupid because they don't know the alphabet
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
Dungeon Runners does exactly what it is meant to do, its advertised as a hack and slash dungeon game..
It's your own fault if you expected the next great mmorpg.
IMO its a great game to kill time with.
I only know of Anarcy Online that changed ALOT after beta but that took a good year or more (& even now some of the old issues from beta still remain).
The "its still in beta" is no excuse, right now open beta tests have turned into trials with buggs & gameplay issues.
So Flame on !!!
Seriously, telling me that it's like Diablo isn't exactly a criticism that will turn most people away.
I'd like to know how many different ways can a person design a Hack'N'Slash. I just don't think that they MUST avoid features that other Hack'N'Slash games have. They want a game that is easy to learn and fun to play quickly. Well, to do that, you have to use elements that other Hack'N'Slash games use. If you say Dungeon Runner looks like <insert name here> then you are just identifying some of the genre's common elements.
If the development completes properly, I think this will be a very hot product.
I do like the mild humor that is found in there sometimes.
I am going to stick with it until it's out of beta to see if it improves enough to continue playing.
There is a grouping system... for whoever said there was no grouping...
and once in their group u just right click their name to do stuff... and you can type /goto to warp to whatever dungeon they are in.
My problem with the game is
1. not enought different armours
2. items stats are not random enough and there are not enough variations... i would get the exact same yellow text item frequently.
3. the item images need more variation... thye all look the same.
4. better targeting system... as an archer it was very hard to click on enemies once they were moving
5. better creep AI or something...
-creeps only attack if your very close
-if you attack 1 creep all the creeps in its group attack you no matter where they are
This makes fighting creeps boring because you knew exactly what they will do because their whole ai is like
if ( attacked || player.distance < x)
{
attack();
}
Also its not very graphically impressive (not as impressive as like guild wars) and dungeon runners lags badly on my computer... guild wars runs fine...
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Got into beta last week and started leveling up a fighter. By lvl 20, I was about to call it quits. I pressed on so I can do all 10 lvls of HDoL and Embercore/Shadow's Embrace. Now I'm lvl 35 and can barely force myself to log in. I know it's being advertised as a "simple hack-n-slash" but even as that, it just fails in so many ways.
Diablo 3 should set the precedent for these types of games.
