Paladins what happened?

in Everquest II

I am considering going back to everquest 2 and I am very interested in playing a paladin.  However I have been hearing in multiple places that the pladins have been nerfed. 

What does this mean for the those of us who want to play paladins? 

Does this mean that people will be reluctant to group with them and that soloing is more difficult now? 

What exactly was nerfed?

(The next question is a little off topic but better ask now then starting a new thread)

Does race effect how your class is played? For example: This human paladin is not nearly as effective as that ogre paladin because of lower strength. So lets take the ogre.

I'm sure there are more questions I would like to ask but they are not coming to me at this moment.  I'm sure they will come about as these questions are answered.

    Greetings!

    I hace played Paladin since day one and still goin. If you want to be the best tank however you play you should roll a guardian or a beserker. Though Paladins are still good as tanks and if you learn too play as one you can be realy good tank I think. The differens if we now compare lets say guardian with a paladin is that paladins have probelm with hategain, can be sometimes hard too hold some mobs that maybe the guardian have no bigger problem with. Same with some buffs, example guards got better avodiance buffs also better health buffs and that make the guard better tank then the paladin. But I dont realy care if the paladin arent the best Tank, I just love play as one. :-)
    If you looking for DPS in your paladin you should for sure play a beserker, paladins arent that good in that genre.

    Go to Everquest2 site and read or ask questions about this things, you might get info enough too make a chose.

    Thank you for the reply, I guess i could always play a really "devote" guardian/berserker.  Thanks for the information.

    Plenty of Pally's soloing and grouping.  In fact the main tank in groups and raids in my guild is a Pally and does a fantastic job at it.

    If you solo quite a bit though i would look at another class.

    they are trying to make the game more group orrinatened (i like that) plus you don't really start getting really class like till about level 40. I myself had a berserker and i found out, i really wasn't a berserker till about level 40 when i became more dps orinated and not a meat shield, but also, no, paladins are not the tanks they were in EQ1 but rather have more magic.

    Thank you all for your posts, I will be playing in a few days.  Now I just need to settle on what race and server to play this character on.

    You could say paladins have been nerfed but It doesnt change anything. I have had my pally for about 2years and there has never been that much of a downgrade....actually the changes work quite well for me. Your race doesnt mattter once you are at higher lvls so just go for whatever you fancy. Remember though as a paladin you are not going to excel at any one thing.....you will be a combination of Tank/DPS/Healer. Enjoy your paladin and if you join the Nektulos server then look up a Pally named Gevdwyn....thats me ::::01::
