Weekend LAN Parties & EVE

Driver8Driver8 Member Posts: 81
My friends at work and a few more at school like to meet up at someone's house on Saturday nights to do some online gaming.  Good times o' Plenty.   image

Right now we're really into a couple of MMO's that we play together, mostly World of Warcraft and Everquest.  We have a good time running together as a team and fighting the mobs that try to pounce on us as we get progressively more drunk.  lol.

Anyways, we're sort of looking for another game to pick up.  Is EVE the type of game that is good for those sorts of online LAN parties we have?  We like a good bit of action, lots of places to explore, and some use of good tactics.  The game play in WoW is pretty much ideal for us as we get a kick out of that game.  It makes us laugh a lot!  Oh, and we like the possibilities of character develop that go with Everquest, not to mention the bazillion places to explore each weekend!

Thanks for the help guys.   image

    Depends really.

I have a group of friends and at the moment we meet to do mining ops in Low Sec. It is loads of fun and we chat a lot.....not much else to do while mining. :)

Due to the fact that we are spread out all over the globe it is a great way to keep in touch with each other. It promotes team work and fun as each person has a certain skill. They use that skill to improve the group or the Corp.

If you looking for hack and Slash then Eve may not be the best choice. But take up the 14 day trial and try it out for a weekend and see what you think. At worst you will finish the weekend saying hey we tried a new game and it wasnt for us. At best that is the only game you guys will play going forwards.

    Either Way Fly Safe

Actually, Eve would be perfect for a bit of gang pvp... Easy to find action... get a good group of 5 guys together and go ape sh*t. It's already a lot of fun sitting there listen to guys talk over vent... now you can have music going, your closest friends nearby to shout out and tell them how amazing that last kill was. Just dont forget the chips. image

The trial is a good idea.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll tell the guys and see what they say.

We kinda definitely are the hack/slash types to an extent.  We crack up watching each other act goofy in fights.  Especially when we do something really stupid or silly.  We sit in two rooms that are beside each other and communicate that way, so we are picking on each other all night about our puny sword or our stinky b.o. leather we never get to change that acts as a defensive smell proc if hit by a mob.

We'll download the trial this weekend though and give it a shot.  Thanks again.

    No Problem.

Good luck. If you have any questions find me in game "Monde" and I will see what I can do to help.

The best piece of Advice I can give you is to finish the Tutorial. What we did is we all did the Tutorial and agreed to meet at a certain station before the weekend. So that once we started to play as a group we never had to wait for everyone to finish the Tut and get there.

Perect group game in my opinion me and friends from scholl often have lan partys with it. Fun because team work and watching things explode + chasing poor care bears across the solar system is fun :Pimage

I agree IF this is the sort of game you are looking for. We formed a small Corp together and it is loads of fun. But my fun is not everyones fun.

Great game to play with friends.  I'd recommend switching to another one before you get to inebriated if you're doing PvP though, could get expensive really fast.

This is 100% accurate. Trust me on this. I lost 2 Thorax's and a Vexor because I was a littl under the weather and never watched local. Then I bought a ship for 7mil that I cannot fly yet.

    Don't Drink and Fly ;)

    Now I am broke.

True, this game isn't for those that pack up and move around types, it would take to long to make sure ur players and stuff are in the right location, and, that the area is secure. Eve's group effort factions are controlled by leadership players who use Team Speak and Eve newest VOIP system.
