Just as a side note, the above is sarcasm aimed at some of the trolls who lurk these boards.
As for MxO, its pretty unknown and underapprechiated but theres a definate player base. Its a pretty friendly tight knit community/game waiting for a grand return and their time to shine.
and in responce to 'total failure' that was launch. That was coming up 2 years ago. A lot can change in that timespan

MXO is cool if you want to roleplay in the matrix environment. Some do it well, most don't. Many roleplay off the wall things like vampires.

Except you've hacked the database or have a mole in SOE, I doubt you can say that with certainty. On a purely theoretical basis, I doubt the game would still run with a few hundred 15s per month. I mean, SOE recently said MxO brought them profit. Its a pretty friendly tight knit community/game waiting for a grand return and their time to shine. What are you smoking, how will this happen? Also, by tight knit he means small cliques of mouth breathing idiots who are SOE fan boys.
Not necessarily. These players referred to are passionate and creative about the game (to sum it up). As someone who attends the forums more often than healthy, I can say with high certainty that most people who are so passionate and creative are, in fact, pretty constructive and intelligent.
And as long as "SOE fanboy" isn't someone who doesn't hate SOE and all their games for the sake of it, I'd say they aren't such, aswell. I don't remember any "we luv you soe lolol1!!1!" on the boards recently. All who are worshipped are a few individual staff members. and in responce to 'total failure' that was launch. That was coming up 2 years ago. A lot can change in that timespan Sure but nothing did, aside fromt he cr2 waste of time. Stop being willfully ignorant and disingenuous.
I think he means fixed bugs and stuff. CR 2.0 added bugs. But many related to it and not seem to have been fixed, or so.
Can't really judge about it from first hand.

Not just roleplay. The passive observation of the storyline (mostly text, which is, well, equivalent to dialogue in movies) can also be very interesting.
And I've already said that, there can be aswell intelligent vampire roleplay. Even if it's "off-the-wall" (meaning, not in accordance to the game mechanigcs etc.). Should I repeat myself again? You can get a more or less representative impression of roleplayers when reading live event logs. Those who actually roleplay (instead of talking childish trash or embarassingly not being able to remain IC) are actually quite good, to excellent. And very little vampires. But maybe that's not such a representative insight...

I'm sorry but why the fuck do you keep bringing up vampires? Did you only meet Gothique in the matrix or something? You obviously you don't know shit. <WTG by the way!)
And here we have people, a beautiful example of the current community in MxO. Go forth, play and enjoy....
As to the topic, MxO is a wonderful world that sadly was neglected in terms of actual gameplay. Bugs and exploits plagued it for a very long time (still does) and it went through disastrous launch and eventually a change of company fairly early in it's life.
The game certainly stands much better today then it day this time last year, sadly though it's still not that great. Combat is awkward and a chore at best, performance is decent but still needs to be toned down on even very strong systems, the community is ravagely agressive and generally mean spirited if not almost completely impossible to get into for newcommers and there's very little content that will last you past a month.
As others have mentioned, where the game does shine is it's RP possiblity's and Sand-Box like environment. With a miriad of emotes, clubs and basically nothing else to do, well it's basically all your left with past 30 or 40 days or so. Unfortunately RP'ing isn't all that supported past what I mentioned above.
In beta v1.12 it was possible to actually own a part of the map, factions would fight it through local quests and try to earn the territory, if your faction did that then you could actually control a part of a building or real-estate, like a club or appartment which gave you a feeling of ownership in the Matrix. None of this even ever made it into release which was sad because it actually added gameplay and fun.
The community in MxO is hardly bad imo. Games like WoW and EQII have a much more harsh, abrasive, and ignorant stance on things. Most people that play MxO that I've met in my 2 years of playing a genuinely cool people. I've played just about every MMORPG out there and MxO's community stands out above the rest. Don't get me wrong....a-holes are everywhere no matter what game you play. They are just few and far between in MxO.
As far as the game being dead.....that's pretty laughable. In the two years its been out the game has had 49 updates. That's way more than most games on the market. The development team truely cares about their playerbase and for that I am appreciative.
Another thing worth noting is that the game is not for the timid. It definately isn't your average cookie cutter mmorpg. There really is no hand holding to tell you what to do. It's the matrix for gods sake.........thats just not the way the matrix is. The things you can do in the game are awe-inspiring. The graphics.........they just man-handle other games(useropts.cfg ftw!). So.......try not to listen to the haters and try it for yourself if you're curious and bored of all the other run of the mill junk floating around there.

thats not true, the devs will choose a faction to use the faction broadcast or contact key players who are known to pass information down through to other factions.
either that or they send a server message and everybody gets to participate, also if you wanna get noticed all you have to do is wear a vampire mask and act like a lesbian
Originally posted by nospoon408 System messages are bugged, cause i wasn't getting half of them when i was in CR2
That probably has to do with your reputation and the faction you're in. For example.....if you have more merv rep than zion and are in a zion faction. You may get merv messages even though you're in a zion faction. Never had any true system message problems myself.
This games a load of shit... They can hardly populate 3 servers thats how bad it is. Most of these idiots that are trying to hype it up have faction-mates with job's inside the company and are completly full of shit trying to get a few more subscribers.

Well, I know I'm not hired by anyone, and getting subscribers is not my primary goal here. And oh, I'm not in a faction.
And I really don't believe that. Maybe a few do have such factionmates, but all in all, it seems the people want new subscribers to improve the game, and defend it because they like it.

IMO this game is not a failure, the game is just a bit different then others and you have to like that or not.

Oh yeah........live events daily.......pretty cool stuff hehe.
PEACE!
how many devs will make signatures in a signature comp for other players??
Rarebit (our head dev) will

There isn't a conspiracy behind everything.
Just in case :P
But, alas, no. LESIG characters don't like me. But I'm still defending the game.
because it's my first MMO, I've tried the other big names, and nothing ever sat like The Matrix Online did.
It will always be the best pick in my eyes, but, to each his own.
