Chronicles 1 - 5... and now Interlude?

gcaytongcayton Member Posts: 12

Quick question.  And I know that I'm new here, so have some patience.

I've been looking at all things Lineage II recently due to a renewed interest that came from a trial in my Guild Wars game (it's funny how those trials can actually work).  Anyway, I can't figure out what's happening with Lineage II.  I read that Chronicle 5 is the last free big content update... and that Interlude was going to be a separate purchase.

Can someone clear things up for me?  Is Intelude supposed to be a stand-alone game?  Kinda like a Lineage III?  Or is it a major expansion?  Is it supposed to be a purchase at Best Buy?  Or a download update through the Lineage II server?

I've read conflicting stuff in forums.  Free or not?  Separate game or not?  Retail purchase or not?

Thx.

All the updates are free. So all chronikels 1-12 will be free.

What nc soft does is make a new box with the game and the update and sell that for new people.

You just need to buy the game once and all the add ons are free.

Its just a name/marketting change.  1-5 were called "chronicles" , 6 is called "Interlude", sort of a like an intermission, a"break" you could say and 7-12 (if they make it that far) will be called "thrones".

The reason they are doing this is to be in line with the story element behind Lineage 2, as I have heard it.  I"m sure it will get more interesting as the "thrones" expansions come in.  Lineage 3 is a totally different product though and most people believe it won't be anywhere near ready for release until late 2007 and thats being optimistic.  Lineage 3 will have an updated graphics engine, using Unreal 3 as opposed to Lineage 2 is using Unreal 2 engline.

Its still all free though, except Lineage 3.  Just have to pay the monthly subscriptions for Lineage 2 (1-12 expansions - hopefully NCSOFT is still on track with (7-12)).

    Cheers!

As far as we know Interlude will be free like all the other expansions. Its adding alott more to the game from what we have read like more fortresses to siege, naval combat and some sort of aerial element. I'm not sure if it will just be aerial movement or it will be combat. They are also adding a way to add more bonuses to weapons. More weapons, more junk (that will all probably cost millions of adena lol) more raid bosses...More stuff for Cryo to burn his millions of adena on. Cryo, I'm broke again, lend me money image(j/k)

Oh and more areas to go to, not like the world isn't big enough already but the new areas will have instances as well. Dinosaur island or something like that. I posted a movie here not to long ago and someone posted the notes as well.

Thanks, Torak and Co.  I appreciate the info.  Unfortunately, the info has been confusing for me.  If I keep up on the Lineage II info for the next few weeks or months, I should be alright.  I'm just playign catchup.  Lineage II is still on Best Buy shelves... just checked tonight.

I've already browsed this forum enough to know that "Torak is always right."  So, I'm gonna assume that you're right.  Of course, I've also seen enough "Torass" references for me to chuckle at... but I'll keep my respect.

I just went monthly on my Lineage II account.  So, I guess I'm back.  Lets see what an hour and a half does for my character each night.

No I'm not always right, I've corrected many times by people here

I'm a nice guy...really I just get all huffy when I read alot of the junk comments here. I have no beef with anyone who doesn't like a game and expresses that but L2 seems to bring out alot of hard feelings that makes people really rip into it. I think alot people who are frustrated vent here. You see alot of 'I played L2 for X amount of years and its a terrible game. Not just one person but many. Sorry, if many of these guys thought it was that back they wouldn't played it X amount of years. Something happened to set them off. I understand L2 is a frustrating game and sometimes kicks you when you are down.

Its like the SWG vets. Those guys get under my skin even worse lol. I can't stand their constant crying about the game. One would thing the old SWG was a religion the way the carry on. You wanna see professional trolling go over that forum.

If there was anything that was closest to being a religion just for its teeming masses of technical sheep/lemmings it would be Star Trek or Star Wars.  You don't want to ever test the fortitude of those faithful!
