MMORPG with a good thief class

I am looking for a mmorpg that has good thief class that can steal because i like thieves most in mmorpgs. Any suggestions?

i suggest Everquest 2 or dungeons and dragons online for thief classes, both are very variable and fun to play

Read what he wrote.He said thief class ,He is not asking you about stealth mode or backstabbing or anything like that.
I don't know about now but UO had good theft and i lost a pretty penny to those thieves outside the bank.EQ1 has in my view the best rogue /thief class overall.FFXI is also a good choice.
If you mean steal from other players, Silkroad and UO are the only ones I personally am aware of.
Otherwise, check out Age of Conan. People here have the ability to steal just about anything at any time, climb on and into buildings to loot their contents, etc.
Everyone has some ability to remain hidden, but noone is able to "poof" in the middle of broad daylight. Its much more a matter of using the environment (hiding in trees, shrubbery, shadows, etc.), and it won't do much good if your garments don't fit your surroundings. Some enemies (mostly beasts of the wild) also have an exceptional sense of hearing and/or smell, so you might not be safe in any case.

As a thief you can both sneak and steal from players and mobs. The game is also now free to play. Only stricture on stealing is you can only take whats in their inventory. Not what is equipped. Back when I used to play you could literally at higher level go out for a couple of hours and come back with well over a million easily.
Now having said that the game itself is older graphics wise and overall just a big grind session until you get high enough to help on banes (GvG attacks/defence on cities).
Now I'm mighty curious about FFXI's thief class. Where can I find out more about it? (The thief class, that is.)
Unless you love the grind and slow lvling be careful of FFXI. But if you love grouping, then go for it.
ya FFXI is deffinetely a huge grind, so you should be prepared for some long hours
im not sure if this concerns you at all, but you can jump in game, and that really bugs some players (myself included)
It's a shame that the rest of the game isn't all that hot but it's not a bad game if you have a dedicated group of friends to play with.
UO, possibly my favorite MMO of all time, has pretty decent thieving roles but I'd wait till Reborn comes out (next couple months) to pick it up. Right now the engine is so old that the graphics will likely turn you off.
Other than that.... nothing worth mentioning. Thieves are just wanna-be assassins in most other MMO's.

dude, look up the word "thief". thieving is stealing. thieving isnt backstabbing and stealthing.
I like playing thieves too. However, not many mmos have done this well. I agree with an above poster that DDO has the only good thief class in an mmo. If you wanna good thief play single player games like, Oblivion and Thief.
Also they seem to be making the Thieves in Ragnarok Online 2 alot different then the typical DPS dealer like it is today. Not sure how much it will be like DDO, but they have them concentrating on dehabilitating and distraction techniques.
