I'm guessing most here play the US servers and are probably unaware of the current rvr strike on the European Exaclibur/Prydwen cluster. If anyone is interested in the unrest in Europe currently, read on.
For more details you can visit www.freddyshouse.com forums, but here's the short version.
This cluster has been suffering recently from Albion alarm clock raids (raids when the other realm are offline) on relics, the Hibs raid in primetime against greater Albion numbers, but everytime they capture something, they wake-up to find it gone and their frontier red.
For a long time now this has been causing great friction on the server, player numbers are well down and Hibernia is severely underpopulated.
After about a year of putting up with this several Albion guilds protested when their realmmates removed both the hib relics at 5am. They lowered their keeps holding the relics to level 1. Hibs were unwilling to bother taking advantage of this (as the relics would only be raided back the next morning). When a number of Albion players asked GOA (the European DAoC provider, who have a very poor relationship with their customers at the best of times) to ban those responsible. First response was that the guild was not breaking the CoC, it's their keep, they can do what they want. Then when a few more complained they banned the GM of one guild and a random number of players from another guild claiming their actions were against the spirit of the game.
Incensed, players from all 3 realms protested at GOA for what is seen as a harsh punishment on players trying desperately to keep the cluster alive. Hibernia released control of almost every single keep and tower in their frontier and boycotted rvr, accounts were not renewed and a large number of the already small population left for the US or Avalon (the German server).
Currently the remaining Albion players are sat in Emain unchallenged, almost all hibs have withdrawn from rvr and several large mid guilds have withdrawn from rvr as well, as have a large number of Albion players.
The protest continues.

Interesting, confirms that I made the right choice to go to the American servers.
Ironically it is the European players that tend to stop this sort of thing on the American servers. I often log on 0800 GMT which is four (ish) in the morning for Americans, and the alliance will issue a Call to Arms and all those of us farming, when the best spot are un-camped, get to do some keep defense
For those hacked off, make the switch, on classic servers you can been competitive pretty quick. Ok, redoing all that crafting stuff is a major pain - although it is a bit quicker in the Capital Cities these days.
Shame its destroying a server/realm, WOW did the right thing when it limited people (mostly) to server clusters in their own timezones....
Come play on the US classic servers....plenty of fun still here...

It's European players who have no life/no job or who work odd hours mainly.
It's calming down a bit now, unfortunately the damage is done and the community is wrecked.
You'll see a lot more Euro players on the US servers in the comming months.
lets hope they don't come over here (the game wreckers I mean)

And GoA proved again, that they have no idea how to handle the community And guess who is hosting W.A.R. in europe *cough*
Its beyond my understanding why Mythic sticks with this company...
I used to play excaliber in its heydays and there always been late night attempts on relics.
But you know what ?Thats part of the game pure and simple. You guys have absolutely nothing to moan about. Its a 24/7 persistant world you know and that what can happen.
If a guild decides to raid at new year midnight its their choice.Yes they got no life but aren't the most sucessful players in ALL mmorpg no lifers?
If a guild decides to downgrade their keep its theirs to do so and what do you want the CSR to do about it.While i agree GoA are the worst company when it comes to CSR i ever dealt with i can tell you now that even blizzard, ncsoft or SoE in their shoes would be powerless to do anything.
The only beef i seen is the banning over the constant request over this. But honestly i think those carrying the matter so far actually have lost it.
