In game ads and system messages

LAWLS

MXO now has in game ads and system text messages that advertise for things. Very matrixy!

Wendy's ads spmmed at me during a video game that I already pay for, now thanks. I'll play a game with some amount of class.

The real world ingame ads have been for how long? Very long.

Just ads appearing at city billboards - I fail to see how that affects this game's endurance. And oh, some people actually consider it "matrixy", since ads increase the real world feel (which the Matrix is supposed to be).

Do you seriously believe the BS you spew on these forums?

The game has had in game ads since, well, launch. First from WB and now from MASSIVE. Nothing new there mate and they're generally considered to add to immersion given the enviroment.

The video ads are understandably annoying and are currently being discussed on the official forums.

As for the system messages, you refer simply to one event, which as far as i know is to be an isolated event, which advertised quite clearly a game which upon early purchase all earnings would be devoted to the childs play charity. Not that you'd care about charity...

    It's not BS, it's true.

The fact that you most probably know this makes me think that you're really lying intentionally. If it's not your intention to lie, think out insults that don't have wrong statements as side effects.

Or prove why it was BS, dunno. Best thing is, you just stop... trolling. (or how do you wanna call that post you just made? no content, purely destructive intentions - spam, trolling)

No it isn't they have not had video ads since launch, and most ads they did have sat there for months before it said, "sapce for rent."

    ????

Putting ads in a game then not reinvesting in the game, yeah, quality service.

Oh, video ads... well, those have been around for less time, I think. Sorry for this embarassing mistake.

That would add credibility both to you and the OP.

The problem is, "in game ads" can mean static photo ads aswell.

I remember fully accessible ads at Monolith - and people complaining about the static(!) ads on the European's "ad space for rent", even threatening to leave the game because of this (or something like that).
So those have been around for ages.

That was some sort of attempt to justify my misinterpretation, I guess.

Ads in p2p game, where the money coming in is diverted to other projects. How do you feel about that?
  • SkyJackalSkyJackal Member Posts: 390

Personally, if they add to the immersion (which most do imo) then im all for em.

And the truth is, and i mean the truth, you can not possibly claim to know where the money earned from the ads is allocated.

Unless you're a SOE/MASSIVE higher up who would have access to said information. Which i severely doubt.

what are you talking about Video ads for... since when do you see moving images on a billboard honestly, the only time vids have been shown ingame is at the peice of blue sky event which marked the first anniversary of MxO launch, the ad space for rent was to fill up the billboards ingame which has been done

A post can be defined as trolling when it contains no useful information, its only when it degrades the thread, and your first post degraded the thread so it's called trolling.

Oh yeah, Ingame ads! Sorry if the fund isn't going towards MxO there is no chance this game will get a decent funding/content.

this was a competition, to allow players to come up using their creative side, which apparently isn't shown here much to create something that will go ingame. if you want to see a big development

read up on Combat Revision 2

beta means nothing, I was here since beta and was on Input/Vector continously since the very start and CR2 absolutely pwns. just because you had to use an overpowered tree in the old system to win and now the tree's are balenced it doesn't mean that CR2 sucks, it means you suck!

Yeah, MKT and Assasin was WAY overpowered when it went live as was the hacker tree, and both stayed over powered up until CR 2.0

It's still a pretty powerful tree, but it balances out now.
