So how do any of you guys get groups? Its been 3 days now, at all different times of day, 2 different servers, and I have yet to get into a group.
Ive logged on during the afternoon, evening, and later evening, and no luck. The first night I actually got a respone in chat as to why its so hard to find a group. I was told to get into a guild. So I have to be in a guild to group? I have to join a guild that I know nothing about to have a chance at grouping?
Tonight I tried my hardest to get a group. There certaintly isnt a lack of players. There are many players running around the Harbor area where I am right now. There are a bunch of level 1's and 2's in the "who" list. I have had a LFG tag up both over my head and in the LFG window feature. I have been broadcasting into general chat every 5-10 minutes that I have LFG for any quest in the harbor area, any quest at all. I have even tried starting my own groups. I started out being nice. Did that for about the first 30 minutes. After that I tried to get any response out of anybody that I could. I started calling the community names, saying the game was horrible and it was impossible to find groups, saying no wonder this game tanked big time. No respone. None what so ever.
So after perhaps 4 or so hours of trying to get into any group, I have failed. I know that the general chat isnt bugged or i'm not bugged. I have seen people chat in general a few times and gotten a response once or twice.
The main server I have tried is Khyber, which is supposed to be the most popular server. Is it also the worst community server or is everybody a bot and can't chat back?
Is it really a must to be in a guild to even have a chance at finding a group? Personally after this esperience/experiment, I don't find it any wonder at all that DDO is a failing game.
Note: This isnt the first time I have tried a trial/full game. I tried the trial back in October and didn't even try for this long to get a group. I managed to get a group the first time for Water Works, got through to the second area of the city, and after that gave up trying to get another group. This time im glad I found a box in Target for $5. It would have been a waste to pay any more for this "game". And please don't say "quests are solo-able now". This is an MMO. I don't want to solo. The dungeons are boring as hell doing them solo. Why pay a monthly fee to solo?

DDO is quite peacemealed now. I really am glad that I left the game. It is near impossible to find a group, and when you do, it's rush rush rush to get from one quest to another. I really do not enjoy that. DDO hasn't solved anything in regards to casual gammers; if anything, Turbine has shown exactly "What not to do in an MMO, or for casual gamers".
So far, all I've noticed Turbine doing is provide valuable lessons to avoiding the pitfalls of horrible MMO Development for other MMO Game Makers.
What class are you? That does make a difference.
I haven't had any problems finding a group for my Cleric. Matter of fact I have turned down many invites.
Even on my Sorc. and Bard I haven't had any troubles.
As far as why people pay money to solo....... Well I solo a lot so I have some comments on that.
A) It's my money... If I want to pay $15 a month and not group..... That's my business. If you want to pay my monthly fee I will group with you whenever you want.
Sometimes people just want to go it alone. There are some nights when all I want to do is group and others were all I want to do is solo. Either way I am still making progress within the game.
C) Why solo players still enjoy MMOs? Because even if you are not partying with the other players MMOs still feel like real worlds vs. static game worlds.
D) To see how far I can get and what things I can manage to do on my own that normally takes a group to do.
I could keep going on and on about that topic, but I think my first four points reflect the majority of reasons why people solo in MMOs.

Whats the secret? How do those of you who have no problem finding a group get so many invites? I started with a sorcerer, moved to a fighter, and lastly even tried a cleric. No luck. I just don't get it. I have tried every approach to getting a group.
So far the money spent on the game is a total waste. I was looking for some group oriented dungeon crawling, not a solo dungeon crawling game.
I guess it depends on the server and the class/race you're playing. I've had so many problems with my Halfling Bard I left the game. But then, i restarted a trial with a Dwarven Cleric and all seemed so much easier...
It is no good using /general chat, because thats only for that instance your in. to find groups, use the sosial panel (quick button O), under group section. in that panel you find all groups, which are looking for more members. look for your appropriate level. also, you can click yourself "looking for group". then all groups can see you and if you match their need, their probably gonna invite you.
Use acouple of minutes to figure out the social panel and you will no longer be groupless for long.
It is turbines own fault that new people cant find groups, because it not in the tutorial, only in the game manuel. Turbine really need to fix this. A big problem for trial users.

Maybe the game change since release, but despite all it flaws, DDO was a game where it is actually easy to find a group. In the short amount of time I was around, I was hunted down by group makers and just join whichever I feel like joining. And for once, I wasn't playing a chick, but a male that kinda look like me, but a little better! Of course in classic DDO, I play a human cleric, there is no hesitation here, humans have no flaws and cleric is the most overwhelming powerful class...haha, I was tanking and fighting like a lowly fighter most of the time, with more or less effectiveness, but I was having all my spells to heal and support the group with buffs and the like, so the groups were always happy seeing me around, swinging my weapon like a noob, but actually killing some stuff.
Yelling at peoples won't help however; maybe it is something with how you present yourself? I suggest you try a new server or toon to help you, since peoples may remember that you where shouting and not been so nice while having troubles to get a group. I, myself, if I would log in and see someone bitching in public, would go and pick someone else most likely.
Personnally, when I am bored with trying to get a group, I put my LFG tag and go do something else and come back every 10-15 minutes; I miss some group offers that aren't available anymore sometimes, but I also get plenty group offers that way. Standing behind the computer with a LFG tag is very hard for me, unless I am soloing, but in DDO you want to remain in the group-making zone, so no soloing while LFG...
I prefer been LFG in a game like CoH, at least I am playing (soloing), won't mind been LFG for a few hours since soloing is entertaining enough and self-rewarding, but after a few days, you turn out unable to be LFG for more than 5 minutes in a game like CoH, as the peoples get to know you, despite all your flaws! Of course, the HOs and the IoPs make me quit, I am such a baby! Hehe. But I swear, some peoples you group with once, they keep you on radar, when you log back, if they have any room left in their group, tada, you have a group offer, sometimes a ninja-invite but in my case, they know I accept ninja-invites, never understood why someone who is LFG may refuse a ninja-invite, sound elitist to me.

I play alot of the time really late when the servers are the least populated and that is the only time I have a hard time finding a group. I have made alts at lvl 1 and immediately get invited when I haven't put my LFG sign on. I play on Thelanis which is not as populated as the other servers and a very big guild server.
One tip for those playing and are having a hard time finding a group is to start your own. Alot of times I'll wait around and check the Auction House and Mail in game and if I nothing is popping up I start my own group for the quest that I want to run. It works great for me and never takes to long to fill up unless playing really late. Another thing is try to have an alt character in a different level range as well. Sometimes your lvl 7 rogue just isn't needed as alot of other rogues are playing or the quests being run don't require the class. So maybe if you have a lvl 2 bard your chances go up alot.
My only issue with the game at the moment is the low pops at night which drop down to 50-100. But that is true of most games late at night. Although one fun thing about playing late is you get to play with alot of Aussie's and they have a great sense of humor and are fun grouping with.
I noticed when the college scene goes on break and around the holidays online games are low in population. I have a sub with EQ/EQ2 and always around this time there isn't a lot of people on.
I like in the game if you are a little low on numbers or a certain class you can do the dungeons on normal and it isn't so hard. It alteast beats sitting around hoping to find a group to do it on hard. Pick up people along the way while doing the dungeons on normal then move to hard once you get more people or that rogue or healer needed maybe.
