It's late, i've just finished dance rehearsal, and can not find the strength to do a simple search for information about this... game.

I'd like to know why so many people are raving about this F2P game...

What's the catch (Rappelz for eg was indeed fun, but had an item shop... i still continued to play, great game but need something new, different)

So am i a ship, a person, is it only sea battles, can i join a guild, is there pvp, etc...

Why do you love, or dislike this game, tell me all.

I'm downloading the client now, and will go to bed.

Thanks for the info, ciao for now,

Ginetti.

I didn't like it much when I played this in alpha because there wasn't much freedom in the beginning of the game, you just got told what to do and the explanations wern't actually that good so the game was hard to understand, I ended up getting lost when I was supposed to be finding some NPC which I had no idea where he was!

You play both as a player and a ship on the sea zones.  The game is ok but the combat is a big turn off . Not sure if it improves later on but it seems but its pretty shallow.

It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.

i havent played much yet, but the game offers a lot of freedom. With an economy system like EVE. Crafting is fairly complex and time consuming to learn. Dont know much about combat yet, PvP is not yet operational i believe....

Don't think I'd call my support "raving" - it's the best F2P game I've tried, but that's not saying much. I hated games like Hero and 9Dragons. It's a good time passer for now, but I can't comment on how long I'll stay interested. Depends on how the high level game turns out.

To answer your questions - You are both a ship, and a person. Unlike games like E&B and Auto Assault, the on-foot part of the game is pretty big. You not only run around towns and wilderness, you fight, chop wood, mine, etc. There are fighting skills, crafting skills, which are used on foot.

And there's also the ship side. The big top down travel view, which gets pretty boring, because there's lots of it (long travel times) and the close-up battle view, where you zoom in to fight, and approach ports.

There are guilds. Lots of them. I haven't found one, yet, so can't comment more than that. You also get to pick a nationality, which plays into the PvP system.

and yeah, there's PvP. Not a lot of it now, but looks like the sort of game that will have lots of PvP when there are more high level characters running around, allied with different countries and guilds.

I've been playing it a lot over the past few days... Not a great game but a good time killer.  I have the sweetest outfit ever in it.. It's a tribal dress thing and a big feather hat... It's mad pimpin' wurd

my character's outfit looks stupid. there are tons of clothing graphics in the game, all different cultures and styles, but skill/level = 1 outfit, you just have to find the culture that sells that one. pretty sad, imho.

How much variation in game play is there? Can you choose to be mainly a land person or mainly a sea person, or do you really have to do both to get anywhere?

define "get anywhere?" it's not as linear as level-based MMOs, it's more like UO, where you can just focus on crafting, or trading, and you don't need to fight on sea or land at all. or you can focus on your land fighting exclusively, getting your weapon skill up, without doing any sea battles at all. it's just that if you do that, you'll suck at sea battles :)

i'd say the ship aspect of the game is pretty big, though. you spend a lot of time travelling that way, no matter what you do. and the land fighting, it's in these wilderness zones, where there's not much there, except mobs to fight. although i guess that sums up a lot of other MMO gameworlds in thier entirety...

Thanks. That answered my question pretty well. I guess I was trying to find a way around just coming out and asking if it was just another Asian grindfest in disguise, but it sounds like it is a different sort of animal. I'll have to give it a real go then.

Yeah, definately goes against the asian grindfest stereotype. There are spawns to camp, if that's what you really want to do, but I haven't had to do any of that to progress, so far. Really surprised me, I wasn't expecting much.

I still say it'd be better if it were a sci-fi spaceship version of the same game, though :)
