Allo all, new to the forums, vet of Kauri server during the Pre-NGE (Negative Game Experience) days of SWG, account is set to autocancel here in a coupla days, so for me exit from SWG I blew up me houses, gave away me credits, and charged the nearest Mos Eisley stormtrooper in nothing but me skivvies and me combat boots - firing away and yelling Allah Akbar!!!

Needless to say, they did their duty, killed me stone dead - lifet my corpse there, logged out of the game and promptly uninstalled the travesty that the once great Star Wars Galaxies had become.

And here I am :D

Second that!  I even deleted my character to make sure I was never tempted to join back up.  It would have empty hope anyway since all that I enjoyed was destroyed....

    Anyway, Merry CHRISTmas.

    Good show....

The only way they will ever get the point is if people like us cancel our accounts and never look back. If you want a large corporation like SOE to listen you gotta say it with your wallet.

I left everything to rot at 12 Million credits it will last for years :)   Sorry if that effects people in the game but you know I was screwed so yeah I'm going to keep the property.     Maybe it will make people quit sooner.  Yes I am bitter :) to a point I'd like nothing better to see SWG in the pit of the sarlacc and rotting. :)

I first played the game over 27 months ago, definately pre-cu and honestly I felt lost from the get go.  The game was a broken mess where only the most deticated could do anything productive.  Before my time card had expired, I'd already decided to head to quit.  What they needed was a level structure, a sizable starting quest, and an easier way to become a Jedi, which obviously was the main objective for most people that bought the game I would guess.
Well now they have perfected 2 out of 3 with the NGE and I gotta say I love it.  It's definately a step in the right direction.  I can judge how much progress I've made each day by taking a quick look at my various levels and feel like I didn't just waste my time dancing in the Cantina (honestly, I never understood mind damage...)
I would say my only complaint is this:  It's way way too easy to be a Jedi.  I do think they needed to eliminate the hologrind thingie (something that no one seemed to be able to explain to me back in the day, stating they didn't know how to do it), but what we have instead was a bit over kill.  Guess that's why I picked Commando instead of supporting the "Too Many Jedi" movement.
But beyond that, I've enjoyed my time.  I'm very happy the decided to give Jump to Light Speed away to all current members.  Fact is, the game didn't feel like Star Wars while I was stuck on the ground all the time.  I do feel a little bad for those that paid money for that expansion, but oh well, life goes on.  Over time, new box sets came out that gave it away any ways.
To the Vets, shut it already.  It's getting so old.  The old SWG is dead and the new one is hear to stay.  Either get over it or play something else.  I hear you can still get Empire at War along with a few other titles for $30.00.

To those that like the NGE, please, make a point to speak up.  I know I'm not the only one.  In fact, in my time playing since I restarted my account, I've only met one complainer in the game.  We who enjoy SWG as it now is need to speak up, voice our opinions, and maybe start recruiting our friends and family to start playing and build those numbers back up.

Well, I'm done with my rant.  Feel free to respond, but try if you will to come up with something other then the usual brainless response.  If you disagree with me, tell me what I might have done wrong when I was first playing and how I could've done it better.  Or something along those lines.  Just don't bother if all you're gonna say is "you suck!" cause I could careless.

Stbays, I have a slew of witty responses but I have a strange feeling they'd be wasted on you, so I'll keep it simple:

    1) If you like the game, go play it and leave us alone. I'd recommend re-reading the description of this forum again. You are the one whining here.

    2) I can understand that you enjoy the game, so you should equally understand and show respect for those of us who do not...

    3) and I can't help but to point out that you sir are the minority. The majority of SWG subs have left the game, the rest are on their way out. Everytime I read the SOE forums I can't help but see the negativity there from active players, and can't help but see at least one or two long time NGE players announcing their leaving of the game before their posts get deleted by some swg mod.

    4) Very soon we'll be playing our Pre-Cu game again, and you won't have to worry about our whinning anymore---we'll be too busy playing our game.

    Cheers!

Stbays, let me clarify a few things for you...

    1) Playing 3-4 months of a game the rest of us played for nearly 2 years does not make you a vet--sad to dissapoint you there kiddo.

    2) The users of this forum are made of of thousands of individuals who all share some things in common, such as: Our hatred for the NGE and how SOE ruined years of our hard earned efforts. (I find it amusing to note that you mentioned you would not want SOE to make changes to the child-like game you are playing atm---Do you know what the word Hypocrite means?)

If SOE screwed their players over once, what makes you think they won't hesistate to do it again?

    3) One of the reasons that many people are not defending the NGE along side you is because many of the active players also prefer the previous versions of the game---so really, out of the existing player base of what--10k?..20K?(doubt it) there may only be a small number of trigger/click happy kids who enjoy the NGE --they lack ability to play and appreciate a truly immersive living virtual world run by players and self sustaining communities.

    4) You've embarrassed yourself enough by posting here...please stop. I am starting to feel a slight bit sorry for you trying to defend this crappy game.

I don't believe he ever played Pre-Cu.  This is most likely a WEAK response by one of the fanbois on the suckboards to hype the nge.  It would be too easy to say "I played pre-cu for a couple of months" and then say I came back for the nge.  I put him up there with Pirrg--useless.

Pre-CU was the best time that I had had during the game,  when the CU was implemented i was unhappy, but concentrated on my armorsmithing and other businesses (Like running Kauri server's only Bass Pro Shop, stocked with fishing gear, decoration fish, bait, eats, drinks, tents, and 'ugly john' AB-1 landspeeders (the bass boats.)

Actually, the Bass Pro Shop was the most sucessful and fun business I had had in any MMO game i've played, because I couldn't keep either bait or decoration fish in stock, I actually started getting requests from guilds to provide initial bait for guild fishing parties, and always was getting requests for decorative fish for wall hangins and aquariums.

In short, I made do because I could no longer enjoy the things I did pre-CU, and I was starting to have fun again.

Then the NGE came along and killed all that, and any fun i was having, stone dead.

Ah well, my toon may have gone out in his skivvies, but at least he died with his boots on

    Happy New Year to everyone!

I have just let a sub run out on the game aswell, tried it again after a year+ in late Nov.  I could not believe how low the pops are now, I was a pre-cu player that quit during CU to have a break, and when the NGE hit any thoughts of returning were gone, but I had the SWG bug so had to give it another go.

I got bored of combat very quickly,  Too basic now, even my 13 yr old boy gave it another go on what used to be his CH (and no he did not respec to jedi lol) and his reaction was OMG what have they done to it !!

Next I thought I would do crafting, created a new 2nd char, and then mastered Munitions in 7 evenings, (would of been quicker but all the spare resources I had were for doctor), I could not believe it 7 evenings for Master Armoursmith, Weaponsmith, and Merchant. Once I had done that sold me holo pets in the pokomon SWG trading game and ended up with ridiculous amounts of money across the servers where we had chars lol.

Then I went and spent me dosh a bit, still found some good shops but not many, you used to be tripping over them at every turn.

It is very dumbed down, it does not have the feeling of SWG at all, for the people, I heard shouts like "go back to your dead server" gord where is the community gone . Crafters & Entertainers are ganked, I was actually dancing in one cantina (nope not an ent just dancing lol) and one player said he had forgotten what this place was for. It is sad that such a great game has sunk to such low depths. The lag was aweful, I did not even experience the amount of lag I did in pre-cu

I did try the new char station, which I thought was well done, they should of implemented that pre-cu but after that it becomes boring.

So I think I gave it a good try, played for about 25 days then logged out, and will never return again now until there is classic which I doubt they will do as $OE is too arrogant to admit the mess they have created. Posted my feelings on the SWG forums and guess what it was deleted, very poor......

    Thanks

Replying to Finglin's last post and to the OP I guess :).  So many of us have had similar experiences.  It's really incredible.  I played all 3 versions of the game.  I loved being a master musician in the Pre-cu days.  My friends who used to ask me about the game were like, "so are you a jedi man?"  My answer cracked them up: "No I play in a band in the cantina."  Lol, the freedom to do and be anything you wanted was amazing.   I then became a rebel pistoleer and had a blast fighting the empire.  Pistoleer had some sweet skills, and I loved shopping for new guns lol.  When crafting was an integral part of the game, there were amazing weapon's shops and malls in guild cities all over the place.  Some nights, I just spend my whole time shopping for cool gear; it was great.

I moved on to Master TK then.  How cool was it that you could change professions anytime you wanted?  That always kept the game fresh.

When the CU came in, there were some losses.  I liked the TK animations better Pre-Cu definately.  The initial graphics for the CU were really silly.  One bright light that made it so you couldn't look at your screen lol, and crazy bubbles for everyday movements.  I liked some of the changes to Doc though.  I wasn't a big fan of the doctor buff lines.  I didn't always like waiting in line for a buff to just be able to join friends on Dantooine or Dathomir.  So in the CU I became a triple Master: Master TK, Master Brawler, and Master Doc.  I had just enough points for a triple master and that was amazing :).  I really liked the TK combat style, and got the Katarn knuckler after a really fun group outing on Kashyyk.  The trails there were really cool.  I also whacked Necrosis with a good group and ended up with the nightblade knuckler that he dropped.  Sweetness.  I enjoyed buffing people (doc buffs were still quite helpful, but not absolutely necessary in the CU).  I also loved healing in groups, the bacta bomb ranged heal was really neat.

All the while I was also working away at becoming force sensitive.  I did all the theme parks you needed, and the Corvette, and the dreaded Warren lol.  I thought I was going to be lost in that place forever.  It was totally cool when the "old man" came to me with my force crystal, and I finally got access to the village behind the mist on Dathomir.

I was working on my very last quest in the village to unlock my Padawan when the NGE was released.  The story changes pretty dramatically at that point.  Well at first the chat was broken.  If you had more than one chat window, like most of us did, you couldn't move or chat.  Then the "special" attacks didn't work, and heals healed enemies -_-.  The new icons of powers all looked exactly the same.  This was very confusing.  You had to find which power with a given icon was actually the strongest version.  So the game mechanics themselves, even the most basic were frankly broken.

Now let's look at my professions: Master Doc, deleted, replaced by very different medic profession.  Master TK, simply deleted, replaced with nothing.  Master Brawler, deleted.  Unlock my Padawan quest series? Deleted along with my would be Padawan after one quest.

And let's not forget all the force power that were earned while working on the Padawan.  I had accuracy bonuses (force enhanced), movement bonuses (force enhanced), and range bonuses.  These were hard to earn and improved my game-play.  I invested about a year and a half on the triple Master and the force enhancements, and SOE deleted all of it in one night. Booooo.

As for entertaining?  Mind bar gone = mind buffs gone.  Battle fatigue gone = mind healing gone.  All of this = who needs an entertainer.  Remember when entertainer's could adjust stats through image design? Gone as well.  All the neat doc buffs like protect against poison and disease?  Gone.  What about drag people out of danger to rez them...gone.

So I lost my triple master, force powers, a year and a half of quests, logged in and couldn't talk or walk, and most of the abilities I enjoyed were gone and replaced with something broken.  This was aaaabsolutely amazing in a very sad, sick way.

Like Finglin I tried to post on the SOE forums to highlight some of the problems I've mentioned, and ask for things to be fixed and/or restored.  After all the SOE president himself posted a message to us requesting our understanding and feedback.  So I tried to provide constructive feedback.  No rants, just carefully and respectfully worded posts trying to highlight what was broken, and ask for it to be corrected.  I got only 3 response ever from SOE.  One of my posts was locked, a second was moved to some obscure forum, and a third was deleted.  After the deletion I also found myself banned from their forums, with no note or explanation.  Some may find it hard to believe that my posts were constructive, but many others who have shared my experience will tell you that if SOE felt that a post put them in a bad light, you could simply get banned with no warning.

So, yes I also left that thing called the NGE that SOE put in place of Star Wars Galaxies.  After all that, I find it impossible to trust SOE with my time or money, or my "inner child" so to speak.   It's really unbelievable what they're capable of, and what they've done if you take a good look at it.

And this really doesn't even get into the issue of them suprising us with the NGE the day after they accepted all of our Visa payments for the new expansion, Trials of Obi wan--an expansion that they talked about at lenght in a stratics chat without once mentioning that the NGE was going to radically change the game in the immediate future.

Fortunately, I met some great people in SWG that I still keep in touch with.  Many of them have joined me in City of Heroes.  We have good memories of good times before SOE went crazy, and we have all new adventures in a much healthier environment.  We get to group hunt again, and team up for cool instanced missions.  I'm a healer again that can actually heal people woot lol.  Professions are really fun and interdependent.  Animations are great, and bugs are few and far between.  A bug that took 6 months to even get a response in SWG (npc won't follow) took 5 minutes to get fixed in CoH.  No kidding, I got a response to my ticket, and the problem fixed in 5 minutes, wow.  NCsoft and Cryptic haven't deleted anyone's quests or professions to my knowledge.  In fact they continue to add free expansions and abilities to the game all the time.

So many of us SWG vets have similar experiences.  I wish you all a speedy recovery from the mind trip SOE took us on, and I wish you many happy new adventures in the New Year :)
