I know I know..this is Beta so we should be more laxed about things. However, Lineage 2 has been promoting Open Beta as a "free month of two month play" as they wont whipe the character information. So, Open Beta here is really a preview of things to come.

In my opinion, this has been the worst beta i have ever seen. Forget about going in and finding exploits, bugs, etc. You cant even freakin get past the server selection.

In my opinion this is a preview of things to come. Hell, they may even beat SWG's horrible starting day when L2 officially comes out.

Game had nice ideas...but the thought of a GM in a L2 post saying "Just spam the login button for an hour or so" is a little overboard for me.

If you spam a log-in button (repeatedly click your mouse) at a screen for an hour at a time...thats a little sad and I dont want to do that.

You obviously didnt get into the SWG beta or the opening days of swg that was a nighmare compaired to L2 open beta.

they need more servers that is a given but in the big picture the game is actually pretty stable and fun.

Closed beta went smooth. - It's with open beta the problems arise. Those dimwitted yanks can't even figure out the need in server number. Wait a while and see if they add more servers. If not then find another game to play.

Yeah I especially loved the hovering NPC camps, disappearing terrain and rubberbanding effects in SWG beta and that is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Hell it still has all the crafting/factory bugs that made quit in the first place. Sad, just sad.

Unfortunately for L2, first impressions are lasting impressions and I'm sure they lost a good percentage of ppl that got fed up trying to just get past the login screen. They dropped the ball...plain and simple.

Very well said. To be honest I saw more potential in the game to at least give it a few more weeks. I hated SWG about 2 weeks into it. NCSoft at least is giving me the same timeframe without having to spend a single dime of mine other than time. And to be honest the time I spend in Lineage 2 has been more enjoyable than SWG.

Do they need to add more servers? yes.

Do they need to fix the log-in server? yes.

Can they get this stuff fixed in a timeframe that will allow you to build a high level toon for free? to be determined.

You cant judge the game at this stage because remeber there is a flood of people who are playing the beta just because its a free game... I can bet that 40%+ of the people playing WONT be playing retail...

Yeah thats because its not a good game. And you can judge it in beta, first impressions are lasting impressions in all aspects of gaming and everything else. If they cant get their shit together now, Im sure as hell not gonna pay for it till they figure it out.

I was in SWG closed beta....it wasnt like this lol

But I do agree SWG opening day was similiar if not worse....I did manage to at least create a character in L2......although I got even more sour since the character creation is very limited.

Bottom line here is: If your gonna open up the game to the public it better be damn close to ready. Otherwise no one is gonna buy it if they can try it for free and see that it sucks.

That is very true, open beta tests are generally a test of server capacity. If this is how the servers are gonna handle when the game is released then there could be some trouble.

these minor problems with the server overload was to be expected and will be dealt with before the official launch date. That is why they are doing an open beta to test the limits of the servers and to slowly add more so they don't add too much and waste money. I cann't help but laugh at all these little children running home after school and then crying because they cann't get into a free game.

If there is anything that would concern me is a lack of a storyline, or lack of quests, or fundamental problems while leveling up.. I havn't seen any of that yet.

You dont gotta critisize people for complaining, that's our job. They make the product and it's their job to please us, it's as simple as that. We have to give out thoughts to make the game better and alot of these thoughts come as complaints. It may be just a beta test now, but we still have to voice our opinions otherwise bugs wont be fixed.

I have to agree I defenitly wont be buying this game. It is too plain and boring. I played it for a couple weeks hoping that maybe I was missing something, but I wasnt. Guess Ill just have to sit here and cry more about not geting into the WOW beta!

okay for starters maybe u dont remember the massive NA flop known as Lineage 1... they deffinatly werent expecting this kind of reception especially with what they've seen from the past in the NA market...

for a beta game u cant get much better... the game has only been in beta for 2 days and (if u can actually get in) is one of the most complete, bug-free and fun beta's i personally have ever played...

they already announced their bringing new server's in so why r u still complaining?...

oh ntm u obviously have NEVER played a beta before... this isnt a very uncommon thing among big name MMO's...

anyways seriously, wait untill the new server's r up and running and u can actually experience the game 4 urself before u make a judgement about it...

1. They're not minor problems. This is affecting the trust in their product. True its free...but it is also an marketing ploy to get us to buy the game. 2 months free? Who wouldn't do it? It's more of a marketing ploy than "beta" plain and simple.

2. They are not doing a stress test on their servers. Half of their GMs and MODs even said that in the Linage ][ forum..Look at their forums....45 negative posts Vs 1 good....its not a stress test

3. Man of those who are complaining are not little children (unless 4000 of them played hookie).

Really? So I guess they expected to look like idiots. Why did they initially plan on 10 servers but were only able to open 3? Sounds like they expected to be able to hold all the people initially but failed. I guess they also "expected" that all these people are giving up on logging in and quitting because the game pissed them off. Ok, that makes a whole lot of sense.

They certainly do look bad now for not having enough servers up. But these people who are giving up after 2 days of open beta? Give me a break. This isn't some fantasy world were everything works fine and dandy. Problems will arise in such a huge project.

Yep, but preventable problems on such a large scale make you look really bad. All they had to do was wait a week or whatever and get the other servers online. Like I said, if youre gonna make it free to play, friggin make it playable so that you will want to buy it. Im no marketing expert, but thats just common sense.

Thats because it's open beta and it's a well known popular game... When it hit shelves you won't have any problems getting into a server.

Again, it's open beta and getting thousands of thousands of people into 3 servers doesn't take a good or bad GM to fix that.

Again, you won't be doing this when you buy it, for they will have much more servers.

Bottom line: This is open beta. They are not forcing you to play it, they certainly aren't forcing you to pay for it. So quit bugging them. If you don't like the game then don't play it.

Warning! The Following is an on the spot review of the current open beta. You have been warned!

I finally got on at around 2am this morning (yes, I'm a night owl) and I'd like to say that I was blown away by the gameplay, graphics, and pure role-playing I experienced while playing.

I'd like to say that but I would be lying. The graphics are awesome to say the least and the gameplay is good, not great but good. But as for a role-playing experience it's almost nonexistant. If you consider 3rd person shooters to be roleplaying then this is the game for you. I know I'll probably get flamed for this but ah well. This is my opinion ONLY, nothing more. It's only a game.

they could have avoided this if they stagger the Open beta acceptence like they're doing with CoH. BUT... then all of you cry babies would be whining about "when am i gonna get in im not in yet but my friend is thats not fair boohoo" gimme a break. When you are paying for it you have every right to complain about it but your not paying for it right now so u just come off looking like an idiot. "but were supposed to point out problems" yeah, i think they (NCsoft) realize this is a problem, infact they are working on that problem as you read this. In a couple of weeks when all these issues are resolved what we'll be left with is a pretty cool game so suck it up ::::34::

The games not cool, its just like every other damn MMO this year and Its EXACLTY the same as Knight Online, just with better graphics. L2 = Dookie, yay they fix the servers, now its just poo that you can log into finally.
