i was just saying how that the majority of winners are always users that have just joined. Plus now that i think of it even if i had won somthing the big problem is if i would ever get it. For example i won the closed beta thin for wish like a year or so ago, never got the closed beta, got a tshirt instead (which is still pretty kewl) but doesn't deny the fact that i never got the prize i had one. Also the first year i was here i won a copy of saga of ryzom, pretty sweet yes? no for 6 months i had people calling and sending me letters about paying for the damn game, like wtf? i had to contasly spam the stupid admins till they finnaly fixed it, half a year later
PS i just rembered i also won necron 2 (this really isn't a mistake just funny) got the game, everything was in german on the case and stuff and there was a little slip of paper , written with a sharpie said works in english also.
Your prize: A 30 day game card for Toon Town online!

im annoyed because i have never won anything... i understand why.. but what i dont like is the people that win, some i never see on the forums, which i cheak and mostly post on daily... i feel to many just sign up for the prizes, and not to be part of the community
think I'll write a letter to the PowerBall lottery and boohoo that I haven't won millions of dollars because people new to this country keep winning.....
MMORPG should require post count to be >50 to be allowed to enter in contests lol That seems fairer to the mass posters (the ones with 4000 or more)
Terrible idea. If that were the case, you would have masses of people spamming the boards just to get their post count up to where they can enter. I've been registered here 4 years, and check often, but still don't have 50 posts. Why should I not be able to enter a contest because of that?

100% agreed. I've been a member for over a year. I log in every single weekday, and read articles, follow links, etc.
I haven't spent much time at all in the forums - I only really come here when I want to bitch about a column.
Is my experience less valuable than someone that posts a lot? I see the same ads. I click the same links. I drive the same people here (I send my friends links every day or two). Post count is not a particularly useful barometer. A karma system is better, but really, it's better to limit it so that people don't mass create accounts, and then move past it.

Personnally I like this contest. First time I join a contest here. So kudo to them, they manage it well.
Is it perfect? Prolly not, but I am not a contest specialist, I rather focus on what matter. Contest are a side order for me. Nice that I participate once, hehe.

I will start with an apology - even though I have made this apology about 500+ times in the past weeks, I am truely sorry for the crash we had on Dec 15 and I don't feel like I could ever apologize enough. This website is more or less my life, as well as most of our crew - it hit us all hard and ultimately cost of thousands of dollars. If I could have stopped it or revresed it I assure you I would have.
To clear up some things:
1) No one was "kicked" from the contest. Our DB server crashed on Dec 15 and we were forced to rollback to Dec 9 as in addtion to the DB crash, our backup system failed us as well I state again, this had NOTHING to do with the new design that came out - in fact we were set to launch it on the 15th and this pushed us back many days.
2) People stating that 90% of our winners are from the NA region is a complete farce. Please go to the "Features" section, then "Contests" and look at the winner lists...and please use a real calculator before you start posting bogus percentages. Most contests have about 60-70% of the winners from North America...which is exactly what our percentage of North American registered users is...so I don't see any problem here other than plain and simple exaggeration. (cool I got to use the new color picker!)
3) After the crash we had no idea who had entered the contest or I would have emailed you, called you on the phone or something to let you know - but again all the data was - POOF - gone. We did the best we could which was blast out to the 200,000+ people on our contest alert mailing list. If you are not on this list and you participate in our contests on a regular basis - GET ON IT. As with eveything here we don't sell your addresses and we use this list minimally...only to alert users about new contests and updates to contests. You can subscribe to this list in "My Profile" under "Alert Settings"
Again, we are really sorry that this happened. We feel we did the best we could under the circumstances, which were bad to say the least. We have taken immediate steps to see this won't happen again, and later this year we will take even greater (and consequently more expensive) steps to see that we are protected from this in the future.
Thank you all for using MMORPG.com, participating in our contests and contributing to what I feel is the best MMORPG community in the world.
Happy Holidays!

The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.
Kicked out too and had to re-apply, didn't win anything (obviously).
The one time I did win something it was a beta key that I can only use when beta starts in about half a year, and what's more is the game says the beta will most likely be North America only. Which kinda sucks. Winning something that you can't use.

I forgive you for not winning the computer

know of that holds contests that doesnt say in the fine prints NA only
and still 90% off those who win are from NA, this is bull .... excuse me, if you look at that list you will see something like 10 or 15 winner's from outside North America , i had enough is the n contest i participate and in each one is the same . If you want my opinion i prefer those Prints NA only at least i know i can't participate me and all the others from outside NA
I also got kicked out of the contest and had to reapply, i did sign up straight after and stll logged on every day after as usual, didnt win nothing though, ah well its only a contest nothing new to me not winning anything. :P
As much as I hate that I never ever won/win anything decent for these contests, I have to say this. Contests are contests. They are random. Just because you have been buying the lottery for a dozen years doesn't mean you should get priority in winning a contest. There are many, many people who buy the lottery once every few months or so, and win. This is all random luck.

I suppose if you complain enough about the FREE contests they just might stop having them.
That would fix the problem.
Some of you guys are starting to sound like my mom. And no, that's not a good thing.

Oh come on man, give it a rest.
Estonia had a winner and I think Romania had 2!
If this contest had taken place during the cold war that would have counted as 3 for the Soviet Union (right?).
What percentage of 508,000 members of this site are Russian? Honestly.
There is no conspiracy against your country to deny it of contest gifts. . . PROMISE.
Nope it would not count but good try :P hehe
And Cold War as dead as man who invented the wheel. Peoples watch to much movies about it :P
A.) less then 50 posts, come on no, one cares what you have to say newb
