Anyone think this game won't make it that good? Not to be hateing that the matrix is cool and their games but matrix mmorpg wont work. I'll give you my reasons
1.Its in the present age with no magic or monsters so how would they get around killing things? Go and kill who ever, cops, cant be agents unless its past movie 3 but their not going to make a million kinds of agents. Robots from the real world but still.
2.Guns, cars, break laws of physics, hacking, and fighting? More of an action game. So if all of those go in game what point of money if you could hack or wait you could just create a room in matrix and get anything you want so this game would have disable some things in the movie.
3.Anyone else have comments against the game or good comments plz post them to go with my reasons or against.

I like this type of game, so I'm looking forward to The Matrix Online. I don't know if I'll actually play it but it's a game I have my eye on.
Just like City of Heroes, I like what I read but it's not enough to make me spend hours per day in the community like some games.

Maybe money wont be the currency, maybe ram.. or somthing else completely.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...
According to The Matrix Online developers, the currency in the game will be information. Specifically valuable code which can be drawn from certain data nodes. The Wachowski Brothers were very specific to the developers that they want it as close to The Matrix as possible. It is definitely a game to keep an eye on.

You answer your own question as far as magic and killing things: Guns, cars, break laws of physics, hacking, and fighting.

Not all programs in the Matrix are agents, you have the twins remember, and those wherewolf/vampire minions. Also the Oracle spoke of so many other supernatural beings that are all programs gone wrong in the Matrix.
And although I don't base this on any game info, if it truly follows the Matrix story, perhaps players will be able to be programs as well as humans.
The last Matrix ****ing sucked.. the singleplayer game ****ing sucked.. the MMORPG will ****ing suck.

I for one don't think the game will be all that great. It wont make sence if you arn't as cool as even the lesser chars in the matrix. I mean why woudnet you get all that Instent training from the start. It makes no sence in game terms that you would not be really bad ass to start out. I mean why at lvl 10 would you get Fug fu Training when in the movies you pretty much start out with that..
Anyways. I didn't like the second two movies enough for me to warrent trying this game.

The Matrix Online will be very hit or miss.. It seems like it will borrow heavily from AO and could also borrow the bugs associated with a rushed release.

I don't think a MMMO (massively multiplayer matrix online
) will succeed at all. It doesn't make sense. When I first saw it (about a YEAR ago) I was like "wow cool" but the more I thought about it, the dumber it sounded. It just doesn't make sense, how could Matrix become a MMORPG? I mean come on, this is just milking the fanchise as much as they possibly can.
Who cares about the wachoski-woschoshdi-w/e brothers anyway? They had a single movie smash, big deal. I mean, it's not like they have a well-rounded long history of very well written movie plots... look at 2 and 3. Unlike, MEO wich is based on a Tolkien who has many many well written books that have been around for years.

I think it has real possibilities, since the idea is that the whole world is virtual, it lets you potentially do anything that they choose to put into the game, all kind of super-hero like abilities. They've already said that at least some people in some situations will be able to have their own small little "pocket worlds" kinda like the training rooms in the movies (if this'll just be guilds or individuals who knows), through "hacking" there'll be potentially something like crafting. Potentially all kinds of weapons from swords to guns. All kinds of possibilities.
it'll just be about how the develpers actually put it togehter, if as is so typical of this genre that it gets pushed out the door too soon then yes strong possibility that'll it'll go down in flames. They've probably been smart in keeping it as much under wraps as they have so far, far too soon to really say, just have to wait and see.

Well i dont know IF this game will be good, but one thing it has going for it is ORIGINALITY. How many MMORPGs are coming out that follow the same "Fantasy" formula. The market is flooded with those games, i'm excited that something new is comming out. It may not work, but if it does then great.
If, like the original poster, you want to fight monsters and use magic and swords why would u even look at the matrix online?? acutally i think the matrix online will have swords and some kind of magic like thing but u get my point i think.

I can't believe you guys are going to say the mmorpg is going to suck just because it's the Matrix. I mean it looks cool, maybe they'll pull it off. It's a unique idea, and unique idea's are always either good or bad. We'll just have to wait and see, but don't put the game down due to other games before this.
I think it would be awesome to actually live in the Matrix.

The Single player matrix game was developed my smilebit, if my memory serves me corectly, and personaly I wouldn't touch anything the smilebit touched with a tweleve foot long poll and oven mitts on my hands. Just goes to show you that it pay to pay attention to developers.
Speaking paying attention to developers, I love monolith. God Shogo, while not the most intercitly crafted fps ever created had many new and interesting ideas going on, a welcomed changed to a all to static genra and a fantastic jump out of the gate. I'm not quite sure what they did imbetween, but I also played Tron 2.0 which is another monolith title and a fantasticly crafted game. This time you can see monolith took their time carefuly creating a world which looked, felt, and sounded like the original movie and if thats any indication as to how The Matrix Online will feel, then you can count me in.

PSS: For all of you who hated the movie, or expected something more, wtf. The girls name was trinity. ALA holy trinity. Morphous, whos name sake is the greek good of mystery and intrigue, has all the traits of john the baptist. (They thought he was the one. The wanted to hold him on high, but something divine told him that the ONE was yet to come, the ONE had to be sought out and followed religiously. Hell the guy even went so far as to take the sleepers out of the world of lies, by having the fall into water. HELLO) The City name was friggen Zion, and there was even a judis in there for good mesure. Even if you aren't well versed in biblic lore, you should have noticed that NEO, (Meaning New Begining), was dressed in the cloth of a priest. The people followed him and expected him to develer them from their previous sins!!!! I'm not saying I liked the movie, but the writting was clearly on the wall, or where you too blinded by flashey action sequence to notice the substance of the film. If so I really feel sad, it was only about an inch deep.
