The Burning Crusade.

Hello everyone! I have been gone quite some time, but I thought it might be time to get back into the forums again.

Anyways.... I was wondering about The Burning Crusade a few days ago. I pre-ordered it, because I thought that when it came out, they all would be gone.  Do any of you think that The Burning Crusade will be sold out at most stores, or would it be hard to get a hold of?

I don't imagine the game being sold out in stores(maybe in some areas).  mainly being that theres under 2 mill WoW players in the US, and a good deal of them have already preordered.  not only that but every store and their mom will be selling the game.  compound this with the fact that blizzard really doesn't have production limits as its a simple CD-ROM in some cardboard.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

I agree. Many have rushed in fear of been sold out but honestly i think there be excessive amounts around.Every local corner pc game shop has plans to gather them in drones as they expect it to be a big seller and vivendi is ready to print them in drones too.

I for one never seen a shortage of original WoW when it came out here in the uk .

The original WoW had a stortage here in the US when it first came out in 2004. But I don't think the expansion will experience any shortages as they are expecting that most active wow players would probably be buying the expansion.

I doubt the normal edition will sell out everywhere tbh maybe on a few online retailers for a week at the most but not the shops, there may be alot of players but still its rare a game goes out of stock after release, unless it happens to be a launch title for a console which is very popular like Zelda TP for example thats sold out on most online retailers. The collectors edition however is going to be as rare as seeing a blue moon in the sky, most pre-order places sold out within days of it being on the site, fortuently i ordered my CE when i happened to wonder on the site just as it was put on. :)

I'm acually gonna go on a limb here and say the The Burning Crusade WILL be in short supply for the first week or two. Maybe longer. Cause there is SO many players now. Wal-Marts has pre-order cards, so maybe buy one and you'll be the first to get there copy. Kinda hinting to a shortage. My prediction is WoW has played there office space commercial so many times, its hypnotised people to be nuts about TBC.

Preorder this item today and it should ship on 01/16/2007

I don't really think there is going to be shortages.

But if there is, it will be huge.

Now, I'm thinking Blizzard won't pull a Sony, and understock to the max.

But I've been wrong before. Like when I said the Gamecube was awesome. (Most screwed up controller)

Let's just hope that people won't die over it ( too bad they probably will )

I cannot hear you over the SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Well, I was also wondering this.... When I put TBC on pre-order, I never said the regular version or the CE, just said that I wanted to pre-order. So does that mean I will end up with the regular version anyways since I didn't say anything, or do you think I will be asked wether or not I wanted CE?

One more thing....Does anyone know what the CE will have as extras?

    Thanks

Hmm is BC supposed to be scheduled for January? If it is, I reckon the actual release will be February. Blizzard would have aimed the expansion for christmas and because they missed that then surely the expected date has to be a lot longer than what was viable to be crammed in before christmas. So January could be just a date to appease people anxiously waiting.

The Burning Crusade will be all that and  sliced bread and then some in the world of MMOs.

If it didnt say Collectors Edition then im afraid you'll be getting the regular edition which includes just the game. As for the CE content heres a quote from the wow bc site about the collectors edition:-

We're happy to announce that World of Warcraft: The Burning  Crusade will ship in standard as well as Collector's Edition packages. The Collector's Edition will come in a special box that contains many exclusive extras to enhance your adventure into Outland, including:

    • World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade on both CD and DVD
    • World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Behind-the-Scenes DVD
    • The Art of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Hardcover Art Book
    • Exclusive In-Game Pet: Netherwhelp
    • Two World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Starter Packs, plus Exclusive Cards
    • Map of Outland Mouse Pad
    • World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Soundtrack CD

The behind-the-scenes DVD will offer more than two hours worth of developer interviews and commentary on all aspects of the creation of The Burning Crusade, as well as trailers and cinematics from the game, and even footage of panel discussions from BlizzCon.

Collector's Edition owners will also be able to take their adventures from the computer to the tabletop, with two starter packs for the new World of Warcraft Trading Card Game -- one for themselves and one to share with a friend. In addition, Collector's Edition owners will receive three exclusive tournament-legal World of Warcraft Trading Card Game cards to incorporate in their decks or trade with other World of Warcraft TCG players.

With the Collector's Edition-exclusive in-game pet, the netherwhelp, you'll be the envy of your guildmates and other players as you roam the expanses of Outland and Azeroth. We'll post an image of the netherwhelp, offspring of the nether drake flying mount, in the near future.

A soundtrack CD with stirring music from the expansion pack, a beautiful coffee table book with exclusive concept art, and an Outland-themed mouse pad round out the wealth of bonus items available in the Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. Further details on the contents, as well as pricing and availability info, will be announced at a later date.

I wouldn't worry too much about the game being sold out. WoW is like the Nike of the gaming world now, so the expansion will surely be plentiful.
  • syrecsyrec Member UncommonPosts: 26
there will be plenty, but if you live in an area where most titles are sold out then keep the preorder. I don't personally preorder anything, but I know a lot of gaming store clerks.

I don't think there will be any shortages on the expansion.   When I was at my local Gamestop before Xmas I asked out of curiousity how many TBC preorders they had.  Their reply was:  zero, ziltch, nada.  Odd I thought but then I figured that a lot of people are probably waiting for the post-release info to start coming out to see if they want to invest the $40 and/or return to WoW.

Since Blizzard has taken its sweet time getting this out I think a lot of people are getting "WoW Burnout" and are a tad disillusioned with TBC.   Many of my friends that still play WoW have said that TBC will determine if they will keep playing or not.  I hope for Blizzard's sake that the delay til January really improved the game.

    Time will tell....

If  ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we would have ourselves a lovely New years Eve Party.  Next  time you wonder, remember to wear the same helmut you wear on the short bus to school so not to strain that little pea you are using for a brain.

  • I bought a preorder package and there was nothing inside it, it was just a box, I hope that $10 goes towards the game though, I don't know because I bought it at Best Buy.
  • Lord_ZLord_Z Member UncommonPosts: 157

Normally the pre-order packs come free when you pre-order the game so it's most likely like a desposit on the game.

  • Well what a pack, I mean an empty box containing nothing!
  • Lord_ZLord_Z Member UncommonPosts: 157
Dunno maybe its just to show youve got one pre-ordered or something?
  • I doubt that is as binding as the receipt, anyone could steal an empty box with no security tags and nothing in it. But anyway I was also suprised to see that they were selling TRIAL DISKS FOR $1.97. Maybe it is just my best buy but it sounds like a major rip to me.
