Ok I have been around MMOs for a while. I have played UO, SWG, WOW, EVE. I know that I can not get UO back or SWG when it was good. I stopped playing WOW because lack of PvP and the over all carebearness of the game. I stopped EVE because I just needed to move on and do something else. Anyone have any suggestions I was looking at Roma Victor before it came and but I heard it was bad.
The things I require are a good crafting system and a pretty much player run economy. And it must be a pvp game that the crafters actually make money because they can’t just go out and get something better in a easy dungeon.
anyone have any suggestions?

Have Fun
Sounds like you were 100% their target audience, though they didn't know it.
I haven't seen any game yet that has the actual gameplay you like. Several claim to have it, but none of them actually do, in practice.
Have you tried the new SWG? The crafting has been enhanced again, and the specializations are back in - it's not the old glory days, but it's closer than it's been since the NGE.
Who am I?
@Lorechaser on CoH
Badjuju, Splinterhoof, Plainsrunner on WoW (Moonrunner)
Shyy'rissk on SWG (Flurry)
ClockworkSoldier, HE Pierce, Letnev on Planetside
Gyshe, Crucible, Terrakal on DDO
And many more.
Have you tried The Matrix Online?
I played it some time back, I didn't really like it too much and stopped playing, but here is what I was able to get from it:
-The economy is mostly player run. There is a world wide market where people are able to post items for sale as well as their price. And people are able to buy off it too.
-Many people were able to take up multiple disciples due to the many memory slots that a player is allowed to have. So one person could have be a Martial Arts expert, as well a Coder (crafter).
-I hear that they had just went through a combat revision that is much more dynamic. I hear that the PvP is pretty good, challenging, and immersive.
-There is always a need for a crafter because in order for a player to advance in their disciplines they must craft the ability. And the higher the level you are as a crafter people will be looking for you to craft them a ability.
Now I stoped playing this game many one or two years ago, I don't really remember. But from my experience with it and your looking for a new MMO with specific needs...This might be the game for you.
But like I said it was sometime back, so perhaps you should look into it yourself.
Hope this helps.
hmm...
Have you tried any of the Guild Wars games?
The game allows a player to take up two professions, so you can be a ranger and a mesmer, or a warrior and a necromancer for example. There are, if I remember correctly, 6 professions for a total of 36 different combinations of professions. Don't quote me on that though, its been a long time since I played the game.
The crafting system is not very player oriented. You have to find specific merchants that can craft a particular item for you. However, as I remember in the latter parts of the game, some things that those merchants do craft, for example raw material, are in high demand, such as material for a high-end weapons or armours, and can be sold for a considerable profit.
PvP is good in this game. All professions are balanced, they all have their advantages and disadvantages.
Community is pretty good in this game too. You can always find someone to help you out, or group with.
Hope this one helps.
It isn't the most state of the art game, but out of all of them right now... believe it or not, Runescape is actually decent. It is both F2P and P2P @ $5 a month if you upgrade to a member. Everything is heavily crafting dependent. Not only that, it has an ability that you can use your magic skill to turn crafted items into gold. Like I said, it is old... but for free it isn't bad.
For another free game, check out www.voyagecenturyonline.com It is actually a pretty good crafting based on sailing/pirates and such.
If you can wait about six months, Age of Conan will be out and the best of everything in that game is said to be made by crafters. Plus, who can resist the temptation to go and burn down enemy forts and taking over their lands? I'm actually dabbling in Runescape and Voyage Century until Age of Conan comes out.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
Oh No! You shouldn't worry about that. From what I heard a lot of people think that original is the best game out of all the others. And if I remember correctly, the original game has more than a million subscribers and it should be more now. Besides its a free game, so there are many people that like that, especially casual gamers, or gamers that just don't want to pay a monthly fee all the time.
Moreover, since it is a free game, a lot of people are able to stick to it because they don't have to worry about paying that fee.
Again, for a free game, its pretty good.
If you haven't tried it, you should. Its only a one time payment of $50 at your local GameStop or EB games, or BestBuy and then its yours forever.
I think you will like it a lot. In my time of playing the original, I enjoyed it very much. I wish I could get back to it, but I just don't have the time.
You don't have to worry about it too much, It is a solid game with a large fan base.
