Now 15 bucks a month to me for HOURS of entertainment is nothing. I have no problems paying multiple mmo subscription fees. However, I know many others who don't play any mmos because they are "to expensive". A common trend developing is the "free" to play game with in game advertisements, buying items/currency, or playing for part of the game for free, then paying for access to the rest of the content. But none of these "free" games appear to have the same commited developers or the content updates as your traditional pay to play mmos. Does anyone think in the future a "free" mmorpg will be on par with your WOWs or EVEs or EQ2s in terms of quality and content updates? Does anyone else prefer the flat 15 bucks a month as opposed to all these hidden fees/pepsi advertisements?

F2P will NEVER be as good, because to get some decent devs you're gonna need to pay them, and if you're paying them a salary that could diminish as soon as the economy stops buying in-game items then they're gonna be kinda pissed. Thats the reason we have P2P games. Not only for the server management costs and blah blah blah, but for the people who work on the game's content. And the more people play that game and pay for it, the better and better its going to become.
This is all IMO that F2P will never be as good, but as said above once the F2P find modern quality we'd have already gone through the roof on how fun the games are with our P2P games.
If the people playing F2P right now can afford lets say.... a coffee a day, they can afford a subscription fee to some amazing MMO's, pass that message on to them, less caffeine more MMO
I don't play F2P games because they are crappy.
I don't play F2P games because they are half assed put together.
I don't play F2P games because they have item shops.
The reason I don't play F2P games is because 12yr olds rule the communities and create a horrible virtual world. That is why I don't play and never will play F2P games.
A Work in Progress.

It's funny - I have no qualms about putting down 15$ a month, but when I have to pay 5$ for currency or a ship or new clothing for my character, 5$ that could last me for 3 months of in game stuff, I still don't want to do it.
TBH, though, when I first picked up EverQuest and saw that it was a subscription MMO, I scoffed and returned it to the store. I never thought I'd get into subscriptions; maybe I just need the right alternate business plan game to get me shelling out the 5$s!

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
im not sure but in one of the countries granado espada already changed to p2p, im pretty sure it was japan but not positive.
Not true. The only game I have ever encountered those players on a scale that is even close, but still less than, is WoW. Any other P2P game those players are not a very large part of the population, where as in F2P they ARE the population.
Do they exist? Of course.
Can I ignore them in F2P? Nope. They are pretty much everyone.
Can I ignore them in P2P? Easily.
