I was just wondering if anyone could surgest any good games that have good trading and crafting parts i have played eve online for ages now and just wanted to try somthing else any surgetions would be great thanks
If you like crafting you have to play A Tale in the Desert III. The graphics aren't so hot, but the game is all crafting. You can build a pyramid 1 brick as a time. I also heard Star Wars Galaxy's crafting was good, but I never really did that when I played. There is also EQ2. Aside from Eve, the rest of the games have pretty horrid crafting systems.
I can't say this from experience but lots of people tell me that EQII has a strong crafting base, and that if you want to you could just craft to earn millions rather then going out and levelling, and when you're a millionaire the levelling just seems easier? no?
Vanguard sounds like its going to have a really good crafting system , whatever you do dont play World of warcraft ,without a doubt the worst crafting system ever put in an mmo
Well I guess if you consider it fun... SecondLife has the most amazing crafting system ever.... you can make ANYTHING, I made a Gundam suit (not exactly finished yet) and a jetpack that increases speed of flight up to 100x (but you lag and crash if you go at that speed lol) but if you prefer fantasy games i stand by my EQII statement, it has an entire class dedicated to only crafting called the artisan.
I'd have to say ATITD as well, though the EQ II crafting system was pretty fun. In ATITD there are so many different activities, and they're so different from your average MMO. For example, blacksmithing isn't just putting the right components in a forge - you have different hammers with which you hit the metal, to shape it into what you want to make. Glass blowing is equally as amazing...the developer actually researched it at a local college, and you must keep the glass spinning and move it in and out of the heat as you shape it. Gem cutting, charcoal cooking... there's so much to do.
ATITD also has lots of artistic crafting, which is super cool. You can make light shows, puzzles, you can crossbreed flowers and map out their genetic code. There is so much to do it's simply amazing.
That being said, the graphics are dated, and the game isn't for everyone. It's a cyclical game - there is a beginning and an end. The nice thing about this is that you can jump in at the beginnings of new Tales - the bad news (or more good news), you do have to start over about once a year.

I have to throw in my 2 cents for FFXI. I really like the crafting in it but I do have to admit that it's the only MMORPG i've played with crafting in it. It's really cool and very complex with the day you craft, the time, the moon phase, the direction, with the crystal, advanced and standard support and etc.... Its lovely.

I would love to say DarkSpace, but crafting is something that we really do.
in all honesty, EvE probably has the best and most comprehensive crafting system of any MMO out there. It will be very difficult to find another game that can compare in terms of design and complexity.
I'd have to say EVE has the best crafting and Trade system right now. Nothing else even comes close anymore. The title used to belong to SWG(Pre-CU) but SOE/LEC have changed the game so radically at this point that crafting is more of a side profession than a main profesion now.
If EVE isn't your thing:
EQ2 has a pretty good crafting system. Very detailed and well thought out.
I have heard that RV's crafting is pretty good but it's one of the few titles I haven't played yet so don't really know for sure.
UO STILL has a great crafting system. If you can overlook the current graphics. (Getting a huge graphics overhaul soon)
Games I don't recommend but do have decent crafting:
Horizons - Just an overall poorly implemented and supported game.
Ryzom - Bankrupt

I know what I'm about to say may not be the main stream but I'll try to explain.
Eve-Online is the best that I've ever see at trading and crafting. Although the naming is quite different.
In Eve you get blueprints and with a blue print you can make that item over and over again. you can research the blueprint so that it take less resourses to build the item. If the item isn't selling well you can make copies of the blueprint and sell them. Now copies of blueprints aren't unlimited and cannot be researched or copied.
The market in eve is about 100% player driven. If you undercut someone on their prices the you just lowered the market.
I've been building and trading in eve for over 3 years and I just love it.
This is the one PVP game I love to play solo as I don't like PVP. When trading and building you can be in safe space and therefor not worry about getting ganked.

Ryzom is really great for crafting
Looks like Vanguard is gonna be the spot for crafting in the near future

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Ryzom, A Tale in the Desert and Horizons are all good crafting games.
