well.. here goes

im really bored tonight with nothing to do. So of course i start trying to find a video game to play. I sure didnt used to have this problem

Lets face it SoE broke our hearts... 2006 was the worst year ever for video games

I neeeeed a video game to play

I "beat" WoW, not that hard if you have people skills and can worm your way into a guild but it requires almost no social life at all to get good gear in that... whats the fun in having to arange your scheduel around a video game... video games are supposed to be for fun and enjoyment i cant do that with worldof warcraft... i sure know a game i used to be able to do that with... log into an account and smile when i had stacks of resources waiting in my harvestors it was like christmas every time i logged in just imagining the credits flowing into my pocket =]

then log over to my other character and bitch and bitch about holo grinding... but i loved it

it was the best gaming experience i ever had

i want that

anyone know a video game that can compare to SWG? if there is one? or any that are coming out that will be a lot like it?

i am dying to know... please... do tell

    i think the closest thing to old SWG at this point is maybe Ryzom. if we're lucky, Vanguard could end up being another SWG. I'm not holding my breath on that, though...

    Vanguard is a very different game though it will have a great player housing and cities system + a seemless world and no instancing.

    EVE does have a loyal fan base, with many of them posting and voting on this forum, but it lacks ground at all. Tried it, and it's not a replacement. Ryzom could be, but at least the server I am on is as empty if not more then SWG pos NGE. Vanguard...well, if it's any good perhaps we should consider station access, but it's a SOE game, they have revamped the combat system not only on SWG but also on EQ2 more then once, removing skills and introducing new ones (talking about EQ2 of course), so we are garanteed to have the same hapen sooner or later on Vanguard aswell. Now on what concerns WOW, yes I don't know many ppl that doesn't spend most of the time trying to get epic gear, but it's not all about gear. It helps, but a nacked good player can kill a not so experienced player on epic gear if he's talented enough. There are videos of a Rogue doing just that, nacked and with newbie daggers, somewhere on the internet. My hunter is wearing a few blues, one epic bow, and depending on the oponent skills she can make a clean fast kill, or lose in one or 2 hits. She's also more then ready with this not so ubber gear to face the expansion challenges. In that, the game depends more on player skill then just gear, unlike the systems always used on SWG.

    ya know, i've suspected that Lucas/LucasArts had a lot to do with the mess that is SWG. i'm not saying that SOE is innocent any way you look at it, but i bet a lot of the stupid shit they did with SWG came directly from LA management. i wouldn't doubt for a moment that LucasArts forced the NGE because they felt SWG should have a subscriber base like WoW does. if we're lucky, someone else will come along and do a new Star Wars MMO on their own terms.
