The one sentence i can't stand in mmorpg beta's...

"It's not finished yet it's only beta"

Quite often games are only a couple months away from launch and they totally suck and very unfinished, yet fanbois still stand by them and say this ^. I find it funny seeing as mmorpgs do not hardly change in their final stages before launch. So why do people still expect the games going to change magically? I hate fanbois sooo much they can't take constructive critisim.

This is the case with every mmorpg i've played in beta:

WOW

Planetside

SWG

EQ2

Horizons

The Matrix Online

RF Online

Roma Victor

Dark and Light

EVE Online

etc etc.

People say the more "hardcore" a mmorpg the better the community, i find it the opposite. In these so called hardcore games fore example; EQ,EVE, EQ2,UO etc i've generally found the community;

- Rude

- Ignore you

- Never help

- Never want to socalise

- Very low populated servers

- fanbois

I just find other games like WOW to have the better communities, theres soo many community made things for this game and servers are always crowded which is nice. People also talk to eachother and its great. I remember in pre CU SWG when it was a social game, it had the nicest community around (because it was a SW game that forces u to socalise) but i dont get that in many games.

I dunno i'm not convinced that the games people say have more mature communities are nice at all.

Did you say that WoW has a mature community?  Well, maybe  if you are 11  years old ..

What the gentleman above me said, WoW?  Discredited.  P.S. UO has a great community.  They even have a guild on SP called NEW that only takes in obviously new players.  They help them out as much as possible.  Starting from nothing on Siege isn't easy.

But whatever.  You're out of your mind with the WoW comment.  Unless of course you just made that comment for attention.

I agree, any mmo thats gotten a good popularity crowd (ex. WoW, EQ2, Eve, GW, L2, CoH/V, etc) will indeed have a rather immature crowd, despite what some of the rather hardcore fanboys say or think. If your looking for a game that has a somewhat better mature community*imo*, id recommend some under the radar hits like Saga of ryzom and Matrix online *FFXI has an..alright community compared to those listed above imo..*. Still ill admit in both those games you do come across the rude spammer/ immature kid, its not somthing that can really be removed from an mmo, but people are diffrent in every mmo.

I dont have much hope for the up-coming mmo's either, people are excited for warhammer and vanguard cause its new and they havent tried it yet, but i get the feeling overall it will just be the next WoW, Daoc, EQ2 genre of games...and with it will come those players who ruin the community or are just plain rude.

It will be awhile till somthing thats really diffent comes to mmos...

Edit: While most are probably shocked at his WoW comment, i will admit that I did have good run ins and expirences with the community when I played. Of course I still had a few bad ones, lots of players there are completly retarded, but you cant put that on everyone that plays WoW. Some of my best moments in an mmo are still from Wow, you just got to get with the right people.

Yes, because your opinion will always be fact and law, get over yourself. I actually have some great experience with the community in WoW, Eq2, Lineage 2 and CoH/B.

The underlined sentence you stated is enough for me to know you are a True WoW Fanboi that doesn't know any better than to start crap.

The rest of your post is irrelevant!

UO, EQ and a few others old and upcoming MMOs are ALOT more mature than WoW ever was and I have been in all of them. Betas and release!

Your statements are FALSE and everyone knows WoW is a Kiddie fest.

Now off with you..Go finish last years homework!

I was refering to the hardcore fanboys who cant realize some of the flaws that might not appeal to many other players, and no my opinion is not fact and law

Ive had good expirences with them to, but imho those are the ones that have really stood out to me to have a less mature community. Everyone has diffrent tastes though in what they like.

I also find the people in EVE very helpfull (tried the trial like 3 times now already over the past years, trying to like the game but it never lets my heart beat any faster)

The standard help channel, or a community channel or something, I can always ask about a lot of things and they always take their time to explain everything.

also when in need of money (the newbie ship really sucks ass, and if u spend the starter money from the first missions wrongly then u can't handle the missions and you're stuck with no money) they don't make a big deal about giving u a million or so (and not wanting it back).

EQ2 I only played trial of the isle and the faydwer trial but its pretty much unpopulated on the servers I tried (the starter areas).

Probably something to do with the game not forcing u to grind out several characters so the lower level areas are easily done.

So can't really judge... but its not a very complicated game at those levels either (in EVE u get overwhelmed with all the systems the moment u enter the space, although the tutorial does a pretty good job at covering most functions of the interface, u still don't really understand what certain skills and components are for :P)

What I can't stand is when a game isn't even out yet and there is noone playing beta they start pyschoanalysing the games "projected" features saying "this game has great potential" or "these features are great but only if they implement them this way!"

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

i think that proves his point.

but, i'm not taking either side in this argument.  the people that play one mmo are the same ones that play the other.  think of all the games that you, the reader, have played.  if you've only played one, you're new to the genre, or the exception that proves the rule.

there's not really any game with a better community than any other, you can find good and bad in most every game.  some you just might have to look harder to find the good/bad.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

I don't even play WOW, i never said WOW's community was more mature (if i did i didn't mean to lol) i said i find it better. I only ever see people bash communites thata re more popular saying more immature but you get them people in every game.

I just find these so called "hardcore gamer games" generally are populated by fanbois who bash everything but their own game, if you say something bad they cry about it calling you a WOW noob.

I said today in one of these games "These classes are pretty boring, theres too many of them and not diverse enough" the replies i got back were "you fooking noob go back to WOW" etc etc.

For me the best community was SWG, why!!! Because you were dependant of the other class in the game. Needed to remove Battle Fatigue, you had to go to the cantina and watch the entertainer for a while, no other choice to start chatting, it was the same with the Doc or the crafter as everything in the game was player crafted. I remember those 10 mins waiting at the Starport for the shuttle, everyone was taking about stuff. When you make a game with class dependant, you do not have a choice to have a very awsome community.

    Edit: Typo

Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!

MMO predictions are very easy to make, like saying Vanguard is going to suck. WAR however is much harder to predict :P

The sentence I can not stand anymore in a Beta is "Damn it's lagging and I have a T1 connection, 4x dual core with 300 gig ram and a NVidia 45000000 XT V-tech super duper from hell, I hope it will not be like that at release because I will not play it"

I am currently in a Close Beta and I can hear that once every 5 mins!

Well, I'm staying away from WAR too. Look at thier section, it's a kiddie fight about who is a clone of the other and on and on. I never played WoW and I'm not going to play anything that resembles it either.

this is the claim made over and over again by the D&L fanbois

makes you want to pass on anything where this is touted as a games appeal
