Where are my Dwarf Slayers?!

I've noticed several screenshots Mythic have released have a Dwarf Slayer as their character. Yet they haven't released any info on this career path.

Is there anything i've overlooked or not read?

They had better be in the game, they are made Dwarfs...well, Dwarfs.

They've already stated that Dwarf Slayers won't be a playable class... or maybe until expansion

As for the link to where they stated it, I'm unable to find it, sorry

Not a joke, get over it. Quoting Sanya:

I have been really quiet on this topic, because we have been discussing it around here for months. We’ve got several options, ranging from the purely cosmetic to the other extreme.

We have decided once and for all to reject the purely cosmetic approach. We want to integrate the slayer status as part of an advanced system, along with such systems for the other armies, as part of a future expansion.

I know this will disappoint some of you, and I understand why, but we honestly believe that a purely cosmetic slayer option would ultimately be nothing but a disappointment.

Not sure how relavent this is but I did read a long time ago that dwarven slayers would be part of the game, and I'm sure that I saw a video of him saying they could.

Well, Slayers are sick., and they want the game to feel like Warhammer, so making a weak ass slayer that would fit in with game balance would really suck.  I'm kind of glad that they' are going to do this in an expansion where the other sides also get epic characters.

Well, except for the looks of a Slayer, it would bring up another isseus as well. What are Slayers? They're Dwarfs who are ashamed/punished for a past sin or crime or failure. They take the Slayer-oath, which is dieing a heroic death, either against overwhelming odds or a ferocious creature. Only by such a death they can be redeemed (Dwarfs are a very proud folk, so they won't run from it and accept their mistakes, especially when caught).

They're with other words already dead in the eyes of other Dwarfs, they are shunned and outcasts of Dwarfish society. They fight without caring for themselves, cause life or death doesn't matter.

A class around this concept is very hard. Especially because Slayers are a great icon for the Warhammer Dwarfs, to make it into a good class they would rewrite the lore around them. They've chaned bits in the lore, but this would really overhaul it. And in the end it's GW who decides.

So when the green swarm makes every dwarf a failure and ashamed they have to go dye their hair fiery and get tattoes?

Sort of... yes, but that would need the Orc to capture the Dwarf and shave them before they go do that. Being defeated battle, some go Slayer, some don't. Anyway, most of the things they put in the Book of Grudges and make the Orcs paid for their faults against Dwarfen race in blood, instead of blaming themselves. They're a proud race afterall and it takes some effort to make them feel ashamed, although if you want to make the Dwarfs feel ashamed: attack the beard, it's more worth than their pesky lives (at least for them)!

No it isn't. A Slayer is a very rare thing and is usually a 'living legend' as far as battle prowess goes. It's not a 'class' to roll so that your level one 'badass' orange haired puke can get stomped by the local bunnies on your first kill quest. I think they might implement it as a top tier heroic quest or perhaps something akin to WoW's top PvP ranks, etc.

    yes, living legends. riiiight.

so much that the dwarven armies have UNITS of them? composed of DOZENS slayers? you sure you not talking about 'em dragon slayers? also in the RPG, the slayer is a starting class, every dwarven bloke that got dishonored could be a slayer. rare? not at all.

This is a classical case of developer overstretching. they wanted to make some advanced class system but hey, they can't, so no slayers.

and yes, barnett said they will be in, but he never specified if they would be playable. so, yes, slayers are in, no, they are not playable.

Wizard, It seems to me like the advancment system is more of a way of representing that any dwarf can become a slayer. They seem to feel that it shouldn't be class because then the Engineer/Runepreist/Hammer wouldn't be able to become one midgame.

Acelif, every character starts out as somewhat heroic. Stomping bunnies is so second gen anyway. Here we stomp vultures. And based on a lore, just because our characters will be phisically mature and not dead means they must be tough. I think you are taking their ideas way way too far, I don't think they want them to be an elitist's thing.
