New FFXI player joinning!

nightbird305nightbird305 Member UncommonPosts: 272

Hey all,

I've recently started playing FFXI and now have a lvl 6 black mage. After playing for a while i've realised just how party oriented FFXI really is, and atm im having trouble actually finding any groups to level with. Anyway i was hoping that maybe someone could get me a world pass to a more populated server and perhaps an invite into some guild that could help me out? would be much appreciated :D

i love final fantasy and i plan on becoming a black mage/white mage summoner.  But i need your help :(

I am sorry you are finding out the hard way,but this game is really ALOT of work .This is  not an asian grindfest where you solo and carry 5000  heal pots nor is it a solo based wow game either. There is a ton of content but requires alot of time to enjoy the whole game.I have posted several times myself that this game requires a party and that it is NOT a solo game.

You are doing the right thing by asking for help however people are not going to outright powerlevel you in game. You need to do it the hard way by chatting with other new players and try to get a friends list and perhaps start up a linkshell with friends you meet. What i have noticed is there usually is only 2 groups per level based on at a time ,so getting a rogue party will be difficult.I have rarely seen enough players at any 2 levels to form a party outright,it usually takes time now as this game is old an the majority just hang out in there aketons or level 75 jobs. You might see as many as 65 players in a zone but the majority are either NM camping /farming or AFK /not even playing.,very evident in cities.

It is really hard for a new player to level there player to level 18 and get there sub job quest because they just dont understand there gear/mobs[checking]/food and there player macros/skillups and abilities. So much information to a new player. You have to take the game you are taking on seriously and check the forums and internet for information. You cant just dive into a game blind then be over whelmed,it's frustrating that way.

I am always open to helping someone or answering any question, but players have to show me the effort ,im not going to play the game for them.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

What server are you on?  I'm based in Lakshmi that is reasonably well populated.

I started playing final fantasy, I'm a lvl 2 monk, but thinking about making a black mage. If you want when I start playing, I'll play with you if I can get on the same server. Or, get a world pass to change servers.

I played a long time ago but am coming back ASAP.

I can relate to your problem of lvling, but FFXI has a SERIOUS grind, and takes an assload of commitment along with a linkshell.

My advice, recruit 2-3 friends and start with them, or do your best to get into a linkshell.

I've always wanted to play FFXI...does anyone think it would be a good idea to get started now or is it too late?...and how much does it cost to hold an account?...

I don't think it's too late to join... alot of people still pay. Also, it's 12.95 a month, but a $1 for each additional character.

Actually I've found a lot of new people have been joining lately.

There is so many servers because you really don't want a populated server.
Trust me, that one time you're leveling and you spend an hour looking for a camp you will be happy you're in that tiny ass server.

    Neptus - FFXI - Pandemonium
    Neptus - WoW - Detheroc

You can find a lot of parties and not have to join a ls...actually you can start your own party that is what I do often and ppl do respond...just  /shout and watch the response. Bahamut isn't a bad server at all and new ppl are coming every day.

I'm gonna be creating a new character tomorrow. And how do you get a world pass to switch servers?

When you make your character there will be a little bar you enter your world pass into I cant really remember where it is it's just when you're making character.
