One of the best game ive played so far since ultima online release back in 1997
I never got hooked for 3 days straight in a game since EA screwed up UO universe when they turned it into a carebear image collecting christian game.I was roleplaying a dread lord cooking up the body of my kills and eating them right after , but EA changed all that and created stats loss and Trammel , thats when their game went on declining , heck diablo 1 was funnier after that stupid patch.
Nothing better then grouping with other villains and go rob a BANK , finaly a game that really let u play a true chaotic evil minded character to the fullest , and theres nothing compared ont he market that let you beat on poor heroes like this one.
a 9.5 out of 10.

Your ignorance astounds me. Do you not know what a Personal Opinion is?

So basically you are saying "Give it another review once you get to a higher level, so that your rating is the same as mine" ?
Why does it matter that he deems it at 9.5?

Throwing in my 2 infamy....
I have characters on both sides at "endgame" as it were. I still rate the game just as high now as I did when I first started. Perhaps it's server issues, but many times when I see people say things like "never can find a team post 40" I wonder if they only play at 3am. I never have a problem finding a team when I want one, many times I get whispers asking if I want to join one.
I think, this is just a guess, that people who rate the endgame poorly are looking for a more indepth MMOG. CoX is a fun comic-based game, so it's a bit spartan on crafting and raiding. Spiderman doesn't make 100 set of tights to get his tailoring up after all.
WoW came and went, so did EQ2, DAoC and Horizons. Yet CoX has remained constant on my hard drive. Not sure about a number rating but I recommend it to friends all the time. Even pulled two away from WoW to join me, sorry Blizzard!
Are you sure WoW came and went for you? If CoX is your game then it is tells not whispers.
My personal experience has been anytime someone claimed to get team invites all the time is to jump onto that server if they mentioned one only to find out they were not telling the whole truth. I played at all times but mostly in the timeslot of 3pm-9pm PST and the only servers that come close to those claims are Virtue and Freedom. Count yourself lucky then. I belong to 3 SGs on three different servers and even the biggest one(which is from one guy that controls 2 different SGs and has formed coalitions with about 4 others, The Alliance on Freedom) I still see few people on during MY primetime(see above). Coalition chat makes it much better but nowhere near the claims I've seen many people make. Only my VG on Freedom welcomes any and all members to join on a team and missions. I've been with CoX since official release and would love to have your experience but even as much as I play and as many times I've tried to varify the poster's claim immediately after they posted, I've always have been disappointed and wondered why someone would make such a false claim.
On my level 22 Illusion/Emp Controller on Freedom I have been inundated with requests(meaning at least one to three tells every hour for a couple hours but not the whole night) but it is NOT an everyday occurence. That server is where I get the most and all other servers except Virtue fall off greatly in that respect.
Again, all I can say to your experience is count yourself lucky.
I play on all servers so when I don't get an invite or can't start a team within 20 minutes I switch to another server.
Yes Tute, WoW came and went for me. As for the semantics of "tell" or "whisper" I just used the term I'm used to using. Some people say "send tell" or "whisper me" but it basically means the same thing. On the options menu, it's listed as a "reply" so I wouldn't be wrong to say I get replies all the time to my LFT requests.
I only play on Infinity, so if other servers are more or less populated I honestly don't know. Since I work late and don't get on til late evening, I usually see Infinity listed as a one-dot low population. I have never had problems getting a team together (cept for a strike/task force but that's different) even at my odd hour playtimes. It also helps that my main villain is a mastermind with is usually in high demand for dps, though my stalker hasn't had any problems that I've noticed. Given a choice most prefer the MM over the stalker, as six pets is a lot of damage output. Just like in heroes Illusion trollers are great dps with their pets too, so many actively search for an Illusion troller first and other troller types second.
It is also harder to tell how many playing when most of the time players are inside missions. Plus the /hide feature which will make someone invisible to who queries. Luckily, every archtype can solo (some better than others) so if one absolutely cannot find a team it's not a big deal.
Infinity was my first server(*sniff...good memories). Its probably because my two defenders are 50(FF/Eng and Storm/Psi) so I don't get as many invites. As far as MMs, in the past not now that I have a good SG, I was disappointed to get invited on teams with 2 or more MMs. My experience has been no more than 2 MMs or you will get frustrated with so many characters on screen(not to mention performance issues). But yes I agree on invites of MMs versus other characters. My experience has been getting more invites as an MM or Brute and higher level Corrupters(my lowbies rarely get invites). I play on all servers but mostly on Freedom and Virtue right now along with checking regularly on Justice with my AR/Traps and Pinnacle with my Fire/Stone tanker. My MM is 39 right now and I only started playing him more regularly since getting in an SG but my funnest character right now is my Claws/Regen in the early 20s. He solos so well, I don't notice the time between invites and I am thoroughly engrossed in getting my SG as much Prestige as possible(over 170K to date in around 3 weeks time).
*btw, I like Tells better than Whispers. I missed more whispers than I did tells(the sound for whispers is too soft/indistinct which I guess is appropriate though due to its name).

WoW uses an ancient loot system, simply designed to keep you playing forever. So in that aspect it fails. It is not a seamless world, all dungeons are instances, you load onto continents, you load into dungeons (if you view each relatively large area in CoV as a small continent, then why is it any different?). WoW pvp has always been unbalanced, due to population balances and racial attributes, this is because it was tacked on at the last moment, to appeal to as many people as possible.
It didn't nail anything. It simply took some very basic ideas, implemented them in a subpar fashion, tacked on a warcraft feel, and then further dumbed them down to appeal to as many people as possible. I would rate CoV higher any day of the week, for many reasons. It's superior to wow in many ways, failing only in it's quality of world depth (imo). Quit ragging on the guy just because he stated his personal reason that doesn't match yours.
No matter what your opinion about WoW is- its over 7.5 million subscribers. CoX has less than 2% of that. No matter what- WoW is obviously doing something right.
And trust me, CoX is also loot driven. The end game for CoX is raiding for enhancements (ever heard of hamidon raids?). Also, if you want to get the new powers like demonic aura / force of nature and all those other badges you gotta put in some major grind. At least in WoW you can earn honor visits from PvP and earn loot. This is great for pvpers. In CoX there is no such option. I've played both MMOs to level cap extensively. In CoX I have to grind the same old mobs in PvE over and over for end game loot. In WoW, I can pvp and earn end game loot.
"It is not seamless"
Lol that is such a stupid lie. You can jump on your mount and ride around w/o having to stop to load in WoW. You can level from 1-60 in WoW without entering a single dungeon/instance too. At level 60 you can engage in PvP and earn epic gear via Battlegrounds, etc like I have. I only hit an end game instance like 3 times tops. You really need to learn what the definition of a 'seamless world' is. Right now you have no clue.

It simply means they can cater to the average person, and once they have them in, they skillfully and unwittingly get them transfered over to the hamster wheel. I'm happy for Blizzards success, but I'm tired of morons tossing that around like it means they are the the best thing since the big bang.
Sure, they both have raiding and they both have grinding. Grats on stating the obvious. WoW raiding is much worse than CoX raiding will ever be as far as the grind and time invested, they didn't even add an interesting twist to it, such as making it a grind for a completely new power or powerful enhancement to one of your powers that can target multiple stats. They force you to grind for an almost negligible improvement in equipment, that will be replaced shortly. The PvP grind is almost as bad as the instance grind. If you want meaningful PvP try a UO shard, AC:DT, or EvE, not the game that is defined by its carebear values.
It is far from seamless. The only MMO to ever be seemless was UO. I'll state it again, since you lack basic comprehension. He'll I'll even bold it for you. It is not a seemless world, all dungeons are instances, you load into continents, you load into dungeons. Now, let me dumb this down for you. If a dungeon is in the WoW game, then it is part of the world. If you have to load into a dungeon, or into a continent, then that is not seemless. I know you can grind mobs outdoors all day (and boy is that fun), but you are telling me its a seemless world when it is a rock solid fact that it is not. Seemless would imply that I could travel from location to every other location in the world and never have to load once. Only UO has accomplished that. Please, get a clue.
My comment "Quit ragging on the guy" was in response to your four other posts trying to bring down his personal opinion for no reason other than to make your peen feel big. While you are out getting a clue, please get a life as well.
Well, personnally I would give that MMO a 100%.
Is it worth 100%? No.
Why give 100% then? Best MMO deserve a perfect score, otherwise it is pointless to have a ranking going to 100%.
This MMO has many flaws, but it is the best/less bad, I write already soooo many messages, so if you want to know my reason, just dig it up, it is all in these forums.

Since ev1 keeps bumping this old thread I thought I'd post a poll so that newbies will stop bumping old threads as if they were posted yesterday.

Que1tus posted- "It (WoW) is far from seamless."
Okay then why in this game review on Gamespy do they say this:
"For one, World of Warcraft has a nice, brisk pace to it, and the fast-loading, seamless world obviously has a lot to do with this. ..."
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraft/review.html
"From the moment you first set foot in the diverse lands of Azeroth, World of Warcraft captivates with its vast, seamless, and visually cohesive world.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/awards.html
Like I said before, you have no idea what a seamless world is. Any reply will just be a fit out of anger, a tandrum not worth my time reading anymore. Next time you decide to be a fanboi at least speak some facts
Sure there are a lot of things I dont like bout CoX but lying in an attempt to prove a point is just simply childish and unethical
"The PvP grind is almost as bad as the instance grind"
Battlefield 2, BF2142, Guild Wars, and many FPS shooters use this same formula whereas you kill for rewards. This is obviously a winning formula. That's what my post was about, WoW provides a lot of 'options' to players. CoX doesnt provide pvpers these options at all. I cannot earn hamidon enhancements from pvp in CoX. In WoW, I earned my epic gear from pvp. With the new patch, honor is a lot easier to earn. I personally no longer subscribe to WoW however I always appreciated Blizzard's efforts to appreciate pvpers.
Seriously I'm not wasting any more time discussing this with you. I really do think its a waste of time arguing WoW vs CoX theres already a lot of threads here on this.
edit- Font messed up on me sorry to the other readers
Deleted all my old posts I just dont find this topic interesting anymore. I'd much rather talk bout WAR or Age of Conan these days. Only reason I checked this forum was because I was still 'subscribed' to this thread
I have several lev 50 's and been playing COV since beta and play COH for 2yrs before that. I still think the game Rocks . NO stupid crafting to mess with you just log in and start fighting. SO I would give the game a 9 out of 10.
I tried a couple of other games ( like WOW and EVE ) and did not like them and stuck with playing COX games , And still loving it
AWWW...taking your ball and going home.
Thanks for "bumping this old thread up once more" you will be missed.
CoH ROCKS....if for no other reason then it is not another swoard swinger. I give it a 10.5

lol...newb here
I don't think we care when you ragged...just that you ragged.
But we are sorry.. we did not realize there was a statute of limitations of when we can post....and when you can be called for ragging on someone.
lol, I think you are making an assumption about me here I rated this game pretty high (edit- bout an 8 even when I totally hated the Devs I had to rate community, roleplaying, and replay value high). I did sub to it for 9+ months you know and plan to resub when issue 9 hits. but yeah I ragged that guy he was outright lying. I havent seen him post his gibberish since I say good riddens. There's hundreds of WoW bashers here already. I'm fine with that but at least post real facts like you hate the end game, quests, graphics, or something factual. not some crap that could be easily disproven with a quick google. I just dont like to see developers get trashed with lies
And yeah I think this MMO is flawed. I think every MMO I have ever played has serious flaws. When you play games backwards and forwards you notice bugs, flaws, design errors- this is simply inevitable I guess
okay back on topic, I honestly think a person should try to hit at least 1/4 level cap before rating a game. just my personal belief I hate to see a reviewer play a game in a lowbie zone then go trash or uplift a game. I just think people should try ot explore some of the content in the game before trying to give a score. Yeah I'd like to see user reviewers also try their best to do this like I have
So like i said months ago, I have no problem with ppl giving any game a 11/10 or whatever. but I just think they should get pass the lowbie zone. for CoH this means getting to like lvl 15 I would say cause then at least you get a travel power. This can be hit pretty fast right? I hit lvl 6 on my rad/psi in like an hour or two with my first group it was easy. I've seen some site refuse to review an MMO til it has been out awhile and they have had time to fully explore the content. I think thats a good policy. I did not think this was too hard to do?
in the end this thing isnt really worth arguing about and maybe I was rough on the OP but I just hate to see ppl rate an MMO based on a lowbie zone whether their response is good or bad. he never came back to prove me wrong and going by his post it seemed like he neevr left the newbie area. if he did not give a score I probably wouldnt not said anything but he gave a score based on content it only takes like 30 mins to see. i just dont think thats right but whatever I guess it makes people feel good to see a high score for their fav MMO even if the poster isnt credible at all? how would you feel if he gave it a 1/10 based on first 30 mins of content how owuld this entire thread look then I wonder? would you then flame the OP and tell him to lvl? there is a thread on archlord side very much opposite of this where the OP only played the game like 5-10 mins and trashed it and he got flamed and was told to lvl. I admit there is a fine line where you can texpect anyone to bear through a terrible game but if you find it bearable my thing is you should try to hit lvl 15 if possible. guess its not required and maybe I was obtuse to push the issue
I played CoH when it came out - and for the first couple weeks it was amazing. Afterwards though - I lost interst. Of course City of Villains.. that's a whole new ball of wax - maybe it will pull me and my friends from wow?
I know I pulled 2 friends from WoW into CoX, though with 7,999,998 subscribers I don't think blizzard noticed.
I rate this game high for the sheer fun factor. It's a game, isn't having fun the main point of playing said game? It has remained on my hard drive for over 2 years now while other games, some with vastly higher sub numbers, came and went. I find this game really entertaining, can play for 20 mins and accomplish something. Game is not loot driven (despite what some may say), so you find the community is far less anal and more helpful than in other MMOG's. With the sidekick/lackey system, anyone can team with anyone else regardless of level encouraging new players to join their longtime CoX vets.
So my personal opinion rating for this game would be 9/10.
