Dudek28Dudek28 Member UncommonPosts: 226
Well ive been a victom of  World of Warcraft for the past 2 years and im ready for an MMO to save me. I cant decide over LOTR or Vanguard. So i need your help. I want to try both betas and figure out with one will be my saviour. If anyone has a spare invite to either LOTR or vanguard i will be forever greatfull. I really need to get back into a real MMO. I doubt you'll find a spare invite to either, seeing as how people are selling them on various forums, however...

While I have not tried Vanguard yet [though I am looking forward very much to the Open Beta!] I can tell you that from what I hear LotRO is a very, very fun game. It will take personal experience for me in both games to make the decision of which one's better, but from what I've seen both games have a very good potential.

Xange, 57 Undead Mage Mage Executus Horde [RIP]

If your a member of fileplanet you can sign up for Vanguard beta, and hopefully get in within a few weeks. Personally I'm leaning towards Vanguard to hold me over till AoC comes out.

yeah I bought 1 month of fileplanet for this beta. Still entering every single LOTR beta contest that I come across. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just one tips from me, I would wait until Age of Conan also get into public beta and test that one too
  • Dudek28Dudek28 Member UncommonPosts: 226
Age of Conan hasnt really impressed me.

Yeah, I don't feel very impressed by AoC either.  Its graphics are "ok", and they don't seem to be offering anything interesting in the game other than "twitchy" combat like playing a FPS...

Just to make things clear, Beta are not there for you to decide which game you want to play. They are there to help the Dev find bugs and exploit to made a better game at release. It is because of people like you who only want to try out the game that they have to push back the release or release it with bugs because reel Beta tester didn't get a spot to help. I hope no one will ever give you a spare invite neither you will be selected to a Beta. Just wait for the Open Beta or a Free Trial.

Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!

More than likely, a person who just wanted to try a beta to decide which game he/she wanted to play would not get into a closed beta. This and alpha testing are usually the main phases where bugs are found. Real testers are invited to this phase of the early game (i.e. the people who have been the most active on the forums, and possibly submitted feedback to devs' posts, etc) to find these said bugs.  I believe the original poster was referring to the Open Beta, but I could be wrong. Usually, this part is where stress testing takes place, so the game devs invite a lot of people for it. Wouldn't this mean that you could technically get into an open beta to decide which game to play? To clarify too, I don't think that, "people like you who only want to try out the game that they have to push back the release or release it with bugs because reel Beta tester didn't get a spot to help" is a very true statement. I mean sure, some people get into closed beta who don't do any real testing, but the majority do. A major reason that games get pushed back is because of the company themselves (either wanting to change something last minute, or just to polish it up more), and their are numerous companies who are reknown for it.

"Just wait for the Open Beta or a Free Trial."    Sigh. I just got to that part. So that whole time, you were talking about closed beta, which the original poster would never get invited to anyway (POSSIBLY late closed beta from fileplanet, or something similiar, which hopefully a lot of the major bugs have been fixed by then). I want that ten minutes of my life back.

I entered for the lotr beta months ago and forgot all about it till the e-mail came in they are constantly giving out buddy betas in game if you can get a friend to give you one then your in i have not been fortunate to get one yet if your patient they will drop one in your lap i was stunned that i got one .. a friend was just gifted with a buddy beta as well. if you also have a guild that is huge let them all know to sign up for the beta that is a good way to get a beta code they like to get friends playing together. I play WoW as well but just started recently and am loving it dropped Swg for it.

Vanguard ftw, it just basically took a bit of every MMO and put it into one game, and its just going to be awsome

    Your gonna love LOTRO.

Neither. One or both may turn out to be ok, but AoC is going to blow them both out of the water.

I'd put my money on WAR turning out better as well.

Mmm, Semi true... CB's are for bug's and so forth, but invitational CB's that have an invite that can be spread, and bleh bleh bleh, Are just a hype scheme, same with ob's and ft's

But to the topic poster If your a victim of wow... play LoTRonline in my opinion and im going to get flamed for this... take WoW, put some LoRT Refrence, shape the models slightly....*and for the love of god i do mean slightly, seriously did they just add a new layer?*, boom you got yourself a LoRTonline... Though LoTRonline might be fun for you being a wow Vic.

    Just an opinion

I think Dudek28 are talking about open beta, and like I see other have posted. I too think when they starts an open beta they just need many players to stress test the game. Players that just want to test the game don't get an account for the beta testing part.
