The LFG Problem

I am really looking forward to playing this game the more I research it the more I like what I see here, but there is something that I hope that will not kill this awesome game and that is LOOKING FOR PEOPLE to group with, no matter how great a game is the fact still remains that people kills a online game and not the game in it's self kills the game, when you do find people to group with they leave if things seem to not work out in the middle of the mission, stalling everyone and holding people up, for the one's that has muilti missions to do they end up not doing them for weeks on end sometimes, people spend more time asking, begging, and getting fustrated looking for people to group with, help the with a quest, or what ever they need, you have bots standing around chatting and being annoying while others players come to the game to play and have fun.

This is not the damn MSN Chat website if you want to do that then go there so that real players can play, we spend our money to have a blast online and not chat, chat, chat, now don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong in making new friends and chatting with them, but every online game seems to have that same community like that, I just hope that this game doesn't offer that kind of plague here, or I'll be bored out of my mind. I hope that there are more single base mission in this game and not too much grouping to do missions, I am however really looking forward to the PVPing with be so sweet, and truly hope that's the only grouping in game.

I really don't see the problem here, to tell you the truth. That's what guilds are for. You find a good guild and you never have to look for a group again. I'm assuming from the terminology that you're using you come from CoH. Being guildless in CoH was frustrating for the short time that I played it. But in a game like WAR, such as DAOC, which is driven by the combined efforts of guilds within a faction, findng a group is typically not that difficult. I'd suggest starting to look around for a guild before release. That way once launch day comes you'll already be settled into a community and what you're complaining about won't be a problem.

Mythic is implementing the public quest system in order to remove the necessity to need a hroup to get anything accomplished in PvE. Along with guilds, and being able to level by RvR, I don't think there will be a LFG problem in WAR.

well, I have to admit this is one thing that DDO seems to have done well. The game wasn't that great itself (I did enjoy my time in beta, but never played after launch, not worth the money), but I never had problem with finding groups. It's because in DDO they made sure you did need to group, it too hard to solo, so you had lots of groups and lots of groups searching for ppl.

I don't hope WAR will be like this, you should be able to solo if you feel like, but they should make something to make it usefull/easy to group :)

I think they are trying to get away from guild dependancy. Truthfully, I really hate joining guilds just to get what I need... be it exp, loot, or gear. I feel it should be more focused on who you want to enjoy the game with. A guild of 4 friends is superior to a guild of 40 acquaintances in my opinion. I've been a "free-agent" in all the mmos I've played the last 2 years and I've found all of them to be much more fun without the drama that often creeps into it all. As long as you're polite you should have no trouble finding people to play with.

I believe soloing actually harms an MMO. You are meant to learn your role in a group so you can more easily fall into that role at higher skill levels. It should not be possible to solo. I think this is why a group of strangers could raid and complete it in DAOC where in WoW they still laugh at a PUG raids. You need others to progress - it should be like that in any MMO. We need community because guilds are not a focus - so if they need to force the anti-social into groups, so be it. I had my fill of soloing in WoW and I didn't like the end result of it in WoW - too many people who didn't know what the f to do all of a sudden having to learn how to group together.

I play the warhammer RPG and I have read alot of fluff and lore the reason people need groups/parties in the warhammer world is that chances are when your alone you will get killed by something... there alot out there in the olde worlde that wants your blood its alot safer to travel with others for safty if nothing else.

It would be kind of a push lore-wise, but I'd love something like CoH's system. The only times I didn't have a group in CoH was when either I didn't want one or there was absolutely no one online.

1.) This game wont be dependent on traditional "Perfect groups" aka pure healers and pure tanks...

2.) If you ever played CoV you understand how easy it is to find a group. CoV there is no real big need for "perfect groups" and neither are people are only relegated to one dimensional roles such as pure healing roles. Finding a group is really easy in CoV because everyone has some ability to heal be it themselves or others. The action is also fast paced and non-stop. WAR will have these aspects because as stated by the devs healing will not be a major deal in WAR. There will not be any heal bot classes in WAR.

3.) I am pretty sure WAR will have some sort of LFG channel and search tool to further help in this area.

4.) The new public questing system will also further help decrease the need for completing tasks without a full group for people who cant find a full group

5.) Character advancement is going to be more horizontal then vertical thus enabling even higher ranked skilled players to still help out in noob zones.

These 5 points should alone should all help in making finding a group to do stuff with to become less painful then your traditional fantasy based MMORPG.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

In COH/COV there is also the power pool with powers to help define your Toon to your liking. The arch types are also well planed out with quest engine being easy to understand.

But to say that a well balance group can not do better then a what ever group is not true. a tank with a healer can lock down and take out large amounts of enemies,  groups without them can do the guest but at lower settings or much slower

All in all COH/COV is a goup example of how groups and power sets can make a game new player friendly

One thing that thing also makes COH/COV friendly is changing the quest hardest level

Don't be an asshat, and maybe it won't be such a problem finding people to group with. You might want to work on those long run on sentences too.

This really, is my favorite quote. I'm gonna use it for my new sig:

"...no matter how great a game is the fact still reamains that people kills a online game..."

I was so confused before. I thought the reason to play online games was the other people in the game. Silly me.
