They've charged me another 9.99 evenm tho i took my credit card off the website and canceled it. I spoke to the Cs the last time this happened and they said its canceled and im refunded and shouldn't happen again.

    i received an email from them saying i owe them 9.99 and i cancelled 6 month ago, but they wont be seeing any money from me since i even cancelled my credit card at the time because of their POS tactics to scam people.

    The free trial doesn't require any credit card details to be handed over, so you can enjoy exploring the craptacular world of DnL without fear of financial hardship...

    They won't investigate individual complaints, but it's worth submitting one anyway. If enough complaints about the same business accumulate then the government consumer protection agencies who have access to this database can jump on them.

    If you haven't already, also contact your credit card company and tell them not to honour the payment and to deny any further charges made to your card by these people.

    DnL is scam.  It is not an MMO, nor is it a game.  Who knew scam artists would move into the MMO world, pretend to develop a game and then start charging people money for it, while located on an island in the Indian Ocean?

    Furthermore, it blows my mind that there are people actually trying to play this thing.

    Same exact shit.  I havn't had their POS game installed on my HD in over a year. I canceled and got my money back last December.

     

    Now... they Farlan thinks I owe them $79.99   What makes matters worse is that I am still banned from their messege boards so I can't go over there and yell at them.

    Farlan Entertainment is truely the WORST and most pethetic attempt at a game. Vuuar is an Azzhole too...!

    Same happened to me:

    Yesterday and today i got invoices from them - i answered that i will let my lawyer handle this and also reported them on consumer.gov



    This are criminal practices and such people belong in prison.

    If an account is canceled then there is no way that accidently invoices can be created one year later.

    Except they desperately search idiots to pay their bills.

    This is terrible news.  To think that some many have been hit by this supposed "free" game.  I had to make sure I was not charged...though I never did play.



    I hope the victims are able to get their money returned.

    If they're not actually charging you but just sending you bills, send one reply to the effect that:

    • you don't owe them anything;
    • you're aware that many other former DnL players are receiving fraudulent bills;
    • you've lodged some kind of formal complaint against them.

    These kinds of bills sent out to players are a desperate last-ditched attempt to make some money. Unless you choose to pay them the only way they can get your money is to take you all to court. Given they're clearly in the wrong, you're all probably in different countries (inflating the legal costs) and legal action against players would be the coup de grace in nailing the coffin lid down on their already atrocious reputation, your money is safe.

    But it's like SPAM. They invest a tiny amount of effort in sending out all those bills and all it takes is a few players being silly enough to pay and it's been worth it for them.

    Strangely I had 5 e-mails from them yesterday, each one saying that I had a balance due of 0.00.

    Wouldn't it be enough to tell me just once?

    I received two invoices yesterday as well. One dated 11/24/2005, for some odd reason they wish to remind me of the mistake I made buying a pioneer account? And one for the payment they charged everyone in November. Took them over a month to notify me it was done - now I just have to make sure they actually did do it.

    Games I've beaten: AC, AO, CoH, DAOC, D&D, EQ, EQ2, FFXI, FlyFF, GW, Horizons, L2, Ryzom, Shadowbane, SpaceCowboy, SWG, UO, WoW

    At this point I strongly suggest you contact your bank or credit card issuers fraud department. Explain to them exactly what is going on, and see what help they can provide. It might not be a bad idea to also get in touch with your state or provinces Attorney General's office. There is a point where this sort of thing crosses the line and must be dealt with by outside authorities.

    Count me in the mix as well.  Received 2 invoices for $9.99 even though A) I only had 1 account, B) I played all of maybe 4 hours total, and C) I cancelled immediately after then made sure on the Click and Buy site that only 1 cent could ever be charged to my card.

    With all the relentless acts of criminal stupidity spewing from this company I am a little disappointed that MMORPG still has them listed.

    Aye havta agree with ya on that last statement. Then again, maybe mmorpg.com may do an investigative-type piece about all this like they are doing with the EI ppl and their billing system (which they ALSO tried to sweep under the rug).

    But then again, it is a game site for mmo's......dnl is a ...mm..(cough cough)....(choke)...mm...(stutter, cough, choke)....kinda like a mmo ....sorta...Massively Mutliplayer Online Rip People Game anyway.

    If you try to cancel D&L u get charged 9.99 i think. SO the best way is to just call your CC and block any charges from them or whoever is charging your CC on behalf of Farlan. Or cancel your CC card altogether for those desperate enough to get rid of this plague.

    I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

    yup! Too bad there aint an award for the most sleaziest way to try to make money off one of the biggest money makers there is. Problem is, you need experience, a little of truth and alot of fans in order to make money. Farlan just thinks you can sucker them in and keep ripping them off. Sleazy as hell.
