Update: An admin from the official oceanic affiliate has confirmed this, I do not know why it is not mentioned on the main forums at this point.

    Do you think that would explain why I, a closed beta tester, is getting an error message upon logging in saying I need to wait for open beta before I can play?

    Well, this is good news. I'll be interested to read what everyone thinks about this game and how its coming along.  So far my impression is its more like and EQ 3 than anything else, which is keeping me from considering it.  (I'm more of a DAOC/WH/AOC player)

    But, I'll keep an open mind..and if this game turns out to be great.... (and a step above previous games) I'll give it a try.

    Site is down, servers are down. Either the janitor unplugged everything to Vacuum again, or they are getting ready for open beta.

    Yeah, thats why you get the error. They're upgrading the official site for open beta. Thats why nothing works.

    Gentlemen, don't get all hyped up for no reason. Jan 4th is the ESTIMATED date. The only official statement is Early jan.

    While I know the closed beta testers can't discuss the game, does the NDA allow you to talk about the NDA? :) Is it really to be lifted tomorrow?

    Wow, that's pretty cool. I'm really excited about the open beta launch.. it does say on Fileplanet that the open beta will be launched in early January... and it's early January now, so it'd make sense.

    Just signed up to the beta on Fileplanet, currently downloading the 6gb client.. gonna take me 30 hours. :(

    It was posted on the Official forums that they haven't announced the date yet:



    "Truthfully it's because open beta depends on a number of factors, therefore we will not commit to a date, but you'll sure know when it happens "

    Absolute rubbish, who works out this stuff?

    Sigil have said the open beta will start 2 weeks before going live.

    Release date given by retail stores is 29/01/2007 it would be the 17th of January.

    Retailers often get dates wrong so I question that also.

    Check your facts before making wild claims.

    I'm optimistic that open beta will last longer than 2 weeks since it is good for both developers and gamers... developers can see how their servers hang with thousands of players roaming ingame and players get good time to test the game and decide to buy the game.

    Sigil has never given any date on either open beta or release.  The closest we have now is "Early January" and Q1 2007.  I've also heard varied comments about the length of open beta, the most recent being "about a month".  Any other dates you've seen were not given by Sigil and are not accurate.



    To be fair to the OP, there was a statment made by an official affiliate site admin saying that a Sigil CM had said that open beta was comfirmed to start on the 4th, providing that things went to plan.  The statment was later contradicted directly by the CM in question, explaining that there was a miscommunication.



    Seriously, don't believe anything you hear.  If you check this site, http://vanguardsoh.com, or (most likey) your email inbox frequently you will know when open beta begins.
