most of the vocal people in any MMO are usually the insecure , trying to cover up their insecurity with false bravado, which can be considered (and usually is considered) an immature behaviour.
since WoW has so many subscribers, it has a bigger number of these social type, and therefore it's alot more likely for people to encounter them.
to sum it up, there are no larger precentage of immature people in WoW then in any other game, however 1% of WoW subscribers is a much bigger number then 1% of any other game subscribers, therefore you have a bigger chance of meeting one of them.
just do what the rest of the community does, ignore them and keep doing your own things
I play wow to have fun not talk politics or about the war on terror. The other day I had a chat about nothing, went somthing like this.
Player: Who wanna lick my Poo( I should explain, he had a pet called Poo (bear) and in wow theres a /lick emote)
Me: Im not putting that in my mouth
Playet: He'll suxy suxy 5 dollar

....I went on and offered other farm animals.
Was this childish? immature? sure it was... but it was also fun. Wow is not a game for serious people its for people who want to have a laugh and bit of fun, im 26 years old BTW. If you cant have fun or let loose DONT play WoW we dont want you.
Yes we have to be serious and professional when raiding but outside of this I dont wanna walk around with a stiff cock up my ass.
WoW is a game not an extension of your life so why bring your boring, serious life into the WoW? or any other MMO for that matter.

I have played quite a few mmorpgs and they all have had there fair share immature players. The only difference I see in WoW is there are a lot more players so naturaly there going to be quite a few immature players but I dont think its anything more percentage wise with WoW than any other game.

Sure but it does get annoying when people hijack the trade channel for example and spam stupid stuff about murlocks or some other things for hours. This combined with people actually trying to trade items usually get people pissed off.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

Having played for close to 2 years, you get a little wiser.
Luckily my guild is all 20+ year olds, all the kids have been kicked for repeated 'naked dance parties' or saying 'LOL' 25 times in one sentence.

Alliance is just as bad , the chat in Outlands is terrible.
