Tell me the movement isn't wasd

Please tell me movement isn't wasd control. The best movement is mouse control and I don't mean point and click. I mean just holding down the right mouse button and wherever you place the crosshairs or arrow thats the direction you move.

Its so simple yet so functional. The three best mmorpgs I ever played were this type of movement. Just to let you know what those games were they were UO, SWG and EVE.

I'm so sick of getting wasd claw after like ten minutes and the six seconds it takes to go 180 degrees is a joke. I also don't want to have to click click click a million times just to move in a straight line.

Well mostly I prefer wasd. But alot of times if the game allows me to right-click to move the camera I end up just using W to go forward and the camera controls to turn. Its more precise as it is hard to do slight turns with the a and d keys.

I dont think I've played a game that uses the control scheme you mentioned, but I would probably like that too

I sure hope it is wasd.  And not sure what you have been playing, but neither Eve nor SWG work the way you are talking.  SWG was wasd all the way for me.  And Eve, you are clicking and double clicking all over the place.

I only played EvE for about a month but remember using the mouse, as for SWG, I played for two years as soon as they launched and you used the mouse. If you hit numbers lock you would move automatically but which ever way you moved the mouse thats the direction you went.

Yep, you use the mouse a lot in Eve.  But not how you described.  Is all point and click to move your ships, no directed motion as you are thinking.  SWG, I played about 6 months of the beta and then from launch for a good while.  Can't say I ever tried that form of movement.  But I think I know what you are talking about, the mouselook type movement that lots of games have.  Always found that rather inefficient and imprecise.

wasd sucks.  I prefer the arrow keys with the mouse.  Having to hold down the right mouse button all the time would suck.  I see carpel tunnel syndrome lawsuits coming with that way of movement.

I find WASD much more convenient, but I guess that's because I've played FPS games for such a long time.

It just seems easier to me to use 1 hand to move, use the mouse to control where I'm going, and right click to attack. And then I use to mouse to choose my special attacks, but that has nothing to do with movement.

SWG in the NGE is WASD, but pre-NGE movement is just how the OP said.  I loved the movement in SWG but I guess I can live with WASD movement.

you're partially right, you could configure the movement to several different ways, you could set it to SWG, EQ classic etc. etc. i personally had the arrow key format, and i played from launch until NGE too. so maybe a different configuration would be nice?

think i read that it will be wasd

i prefer wasd with an autorun key (mappable) so you can hit 1 key to go, and steer as needed.

From Binky - Community Manager GnH

You will be able to use Mouse movement or WASD or Arrow keys or Num pad.

    Currently it is as follows:

    Right Mouse: Rotate character

    Left Mouse: Rotate camera

    Mouse Wheel: Zoom +/-

Left + Right Mouse: Move in the direction you are facing

    W:Forward

    A: Rotate left

    S: Rotate right

    D: backwards

    Q: Strafe left

    E: Strafe right

    <, >, ^, v: Rotateadjust height of camera

    Number Pad: RotateMove character

    Autorun: NumLock and Tilde.

Also, you will be able to remap the keys to however you feel most comfortable.

I like both kinds of movement.

WASD for movement ,and point and click when having to travel distances.

Most games now adays allow wasd or right+left mouse button+hold to move. I don't imagine this one would be any different.
