WoW=Boredom

ok i know youve all read this before and i know what your going to say. the intelligent WoW players are going to tell me i didnt give it a fair chance an the unintelligent are gonna curse at me call me names an so forth but i have to put my opinion out there. i played wow up to lvl 40 with an NE Rogue and an Tauren War and it was the most boring experience ive ever had. ive made countless attempts to level mages or preists only to give up out of lack of interest. i played for a total of six months an have been nothing but disappointed by the game. rogues are easy to play and extremly linear theres only a handful of effective stratagies at there dipossal. warriors on the other hand are all but useless it seemed as when it came to PvE i could take punishment but couldnt do much damage an in PvP i was drastically underpowered the only class i ever had an easy fight against was Rogues an in BGs i was useless. as for the community the alliance was very immature but i got more help than i did on the horde side but when it came down to it both communitys where very unfriendly compared to most other mmos i played. the gameplay experience is very shallow i would call it all style no substance. the zones where confined and clostrophobic, there were no land ownership (which i think is always a neat feature), and the classes are very cookie cutter only a handful of builds are considered effective. i left CoV because my friends wanted me to play this with them an i was punished for my actions. when it comes down to it i dont see why so many people play this game over other more involving, rewarding MMOs. i myself am switching to FFXI in an attempt to find a rewarding experience

Peace Love an sandwiches

Kinda know what you feel like tbh. I played CoH when it first came out and loved it but after 9 months and too many lv 50s i got bored, then i hit lineage II loved the game but the amount of farmers/botters ruined the experience for me (though taking over castles was very fun). After i left Lineage i looked for games where pve was fun yet PVP had a purpose to it (taking over territory etc), i saw Darkfall but and seemed promising unfortunately who knows when itl be released. I played RFO, FFXI (to me FFXI was alright but its a console game at heart and the pace is way too slow i honestly wish they would make a new one because i love the FF classes), then i went into CoV much of the same to me so i left after a few months and finally i found a little gem (thx to this site) called EvE online.

EvE is not a game for everyone and the beginning can seem like a huge undertaking but after giving it a shot i fell in love with it, afaik its the only game where you can build an empire do what you wish, and the depth in the game is amazing. There are many games out there which im sure are fun but im a pvp player at heart and for me pvp needs to have a purpose, after a while simply doing arenas or ganking someone gets boring, for me there has to be a reason as to why im getting new gear and getting higher lvs. I want to fight for territory and control it . I wanna knwo that after i put months of my time into a game i have something to look forward to not just another raise in the lv cap and 2 new powers for my nuker. So my suggestion is to look for any game that offers free trials and give em a shot (though tbh free trials arent always a fair indication wether the game is good or not) but it gives you a basic idea of how the community is which is very important.

Nothing says bad community when you ask a simple question and all you get is: "omg your a noobcake' etc. Not all games are for everybody and 2006 was a sad year for releases, but like i said give some games a shot through trials and ask many questions in-game and their forums and get a feel of the game. Im sure theres something out there youll like.

    Roar, new member here.

I understand that you feel like WoW has been a shallow and unfufilling experience.

Well, to be truthful the game never really starts till 60, which takes about 2 weeks of playing if you're casual and you know what you're doing.

Thing is, Blizzard has killed most guilds that did any PvE content unless they are 5 or more bosses into Naxx(Nax being the instance with the best loot atm).

Now its just a PvP fest where casuals who are usually just in crappy blue gear now have GM weapons and armor (GM items being almost on par with AQ40 gear).

Honestly you're at a point where WoW is changing, we dont know what the expansion will bring, to be truthful the only thing I can count on is the fact that my friends will stick through it with me.

Maybe you should stop playing wow for now, wait till expansion kicks in and the game has a focus again.

I played FFXI for about 2 years and let me tell you that game is a time sink and a great way to make yourself feel a lot of false accomplishment. Considering you need about 8 hours a day to do anything in the game.

ive been thinkin about EVE but i wanna give FFXI at least a fair chance. currently im just lookin for something to hold me over till Warhammer Online comes out. which sounds like its gonna have solid PvP an a good game experience. when it came to WoW the only thing that i liked was the controls and interface...very easy to get thee hang of but it was really simplistic an repetative

Personally, I thought the ability to customize your interface and the fact that it gave you a lot of freedom was awesome.

Very few games "encourage" the modifaction of the original UI, or if you do you have the risk of being banned.

FFXI isnt a game that should be done to pass time, even though it's a huge time sink to begin with, most people actually quit before they hit 20, and the game doesn't really pick up till you hit 40.

If you want something casual or to tide you over I wouldn't pick something like Eve or FFXI, they demand a lot of time to get used to and started up.

Honesty, as much as I hate guild wars I'd recommend something like that if you just want to kill time, plus its not that expensive either.

    Hahahahahhahhahha

That's the single worst game to turn to in an attempt to find a "rewarding" experience.

If you're just wasting time until WAR or DF comes out Guild Wars, as someone suggested, isn't a bad idea-it's free monthly and pretty cheap on the market right now not to mention not a huge time sink like other games on the market. CoH/V isn't a bad option either since, if you've already played it before you could waste a couple months running a new toon or 3 through the trenches until something else cathces your eye that you want to try out.

I played WoW and got burned out also so I know the feeling but for what it's worth it was a fun run up the ladder. So many news games are coming out that I wanted to try I just couldnt continue playing the end game raid machine and left. If you're totally psyched up about any upcoming new MMOs no game is really going to satisfy your hunger until that one particular games hits the shelves...I say stick with something simple and comfortable so you don't completely burn yourself out until then.

    Just my two cents.

---I'm not trying to hurt you, I'm simply saving you from that hideous costume you're wearing.

Yup its a perfect sort of game to play in passing, especially because its not time consuming or addicting.

    Guild Wars isnt adicting?

Howver yes it IS a gret game and it's good for a casual player who likes to RP and do PvE.

And who knows? Maybe u'll find GW PvP one of the best thing out there.

    Yep. Stopped about there!

Don't like it, don't play it! But how obsessed do you need to be to come here and write great swathes of verse about how badly it sucks!!

Go along your way, find an MMO you actually like and play it, life really is that simple sometimes.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
