Any 256mb vid card good enuff?

Recently I had asked this question along with a few others. Some of the others were answered, thank you very much, but I didn't get an exact answer for the following one.

Can any Nvidia video card of 256mb with 2.0 shading work on this game or you need something else?  I can pick one up for very cheap (less then half the original price) from a friend so I'd like to know before I spent anything.

Thanks for any help here.

I "m eager  to play Vanguard ( I can't wait) so much I'm putting about $450 into my computer to upgrade it a bit more.  With this said, I don't really mind if I get into the beta, long as the game is fully ready at launch time. It would be nice but it's not a real need for me.

Besides, of all the beta's I've played like CoV, Matrix , Auto Assault and a few more, I never go pass level 8 anyway.  I just like to get to know my way around a bit just before it officially begins so I'm a bit prepared later on.  I just read where it may not begin Thursday, I hope it does but I also hope the game is really polished enough when it does begins.

That video card will be fine I should think. The bottle neck will be your processor and ram speed. Try and have at least a 2.5 ghz processor and at least 2 gigs of ram so you get all the wonder and awe out of Vanguard. I heard.

ok, thanks a lot for your help.

I'm upgrading from 1 gig to 2gigs plus I'm adding more hard drive.  I currently have 120 HD with about 80 free but I want more. The technician came last night to see my computer and get names of what I need so in a few days I should be good to go.

For the 1gig I'm being charged $120. Dell which is where I got my computer wanted $159.95 for the 1 gig.  Plus  the 256 ram is $60 so that's $180 total for the ram, plus $80 for the card.  The hd I don't know yet.

The video card is from a friend who doesn't need it anymore. I figured for $80 it's worth getting it being it's 256 and what Vanguard needs.  I'm trying to get the exact name, I know it's a Nvidia GXforce something, worth $180-200 I been told.  But I'll post the name to see what they tell me here, if it's indeed worth that much.

Even if I don't stay playing Vanguard which I know I will since I think it's going to be a great game.  It's also good to keep your computer going strong.  Plus many of the new games being released are games which require more nowadays.

    Thanks again!

We'll the only thing I can say is, I'm in the beta right now, I have a 256 *PCI* NVidia....and I can NOT play the game...I have 1G of Ram and a 2.8G proc.  My normal mobo crapped out (actually I think I cooked the proc) so this is just a back up board.  Once I get a replacement in I will hopefully be able to actually play the game.   BTW...by NOT playing the game I mean that at the character creation screen, at minimum graphics, I drop to around 15FPS, if not worse.  Hope this helps ya

The people with nvidia 5xxx video cards are only getting 5 fps. If its 6xxx, or 7xxx, you will be ok

Although some people with the 6xxx, are complaining about performance.

     I've got;

     3.2 GHZ Dual Core

     2GB DDR2 ram

     Radeon X1800GTO 256MB

I'm hoping it should run Vanguard decent.

Now that the NDA is lifted go grab up a 6600 GT or higher and you will be fine. I am running a 7800gs AGP and going strong.

The biggest problem isnt the grafic card in Vanguard.. Its the massive amount of ram it requires. I recommend u get atleast 2+ gig ram and preferably 400 mhz or higher.

    Im running on a:

    AMD 64 3700+

    Geforce 7900 GT

    2 gigs of DDR2

And i get around 60 fps which is quite good since its still in beta stage.. But Ram is the key!

    Running it on a :

    P4 3.2 Ghz

    Geforce 7600 GT 256MB

    1024 MB RAM

it runs great with avg fps of 40 outdoors with settings on balanced. The only thing that makes the game run really slow for me is grouping in areas with many mobs, but apparently its because beta runs a debugger at the same time so maybe it will be better postlaunch.

    This is what I have:

    Sager 5760

    Intel Core Duo (Yonah) 2.0ghz

    2GB DDR2 667 RAM

    nVidia 7900GTX 256mb

Detailed review of my system is in my sig.

The game NEEDS alot of polishing and bug fixes.

Cannot belive they are having OB today.

I can have the game at pretty much max settings and it will stutter a bit.

Even at lowest settings I get the same stutter effect.

IMHO it NEEDS a few more months of Beta at its current state.

For those of you with AGP bus and not able to upgrade the rest of your system, the 7600GT model comes in an AGP version that can be found. Also, if you like ATI, the 1950 Pro for AGP is out from PowerColor and Sapphire.

As others have said, if you have around a 3.0 cpu, 2 gb ram and a 256mb card with shader 2.0 or better (not the FX5xxxx series), you should be able to play decently.

gs 7600 256mb 8x agp, game is still worthless. Yet oblivion runs awsome.

7600GS uses DDR2 ram instead of DDR3 that the GT version uses. Makes a diff. I actually have a friend and guildmate running on a 3.2 P4, 6600GT and 1gb ram. Not sure what's wrong with your set up.
