As long as they get through with the performance issues they will have a decent launch. The grafics are stunning ( and I have a barton core pc) the game will be fine as long as the hitching issues are resolved before launch.

    LOL.

Was wondering why the Forums and Servers was screwy today.

Yes I am in the Closed Beta as well.

    In short.

Vanguard NEEDS to be in a longer Beta to fix ALL the bugs and polish up the game.

Sigil NEEDS to pull a bunch of aces up their sleeves if they wish to make it happen upon release ...

Even with the issues at hand, I am going to EBGames this weekend and get me a Pre-Order so I can have soemthing to play while I wait for WAR.

I can't get to their site to confirm this.  Can we get a quote?

I've personally been in beta many months, I highly recommend you do not pre order this game.  The devs have back tracked on so many issues, and are rushing the game to release and its no where near close to being ready.

They destroyed the economy with an EE system bascially limiting what you armor and weapons you can use, essentially making all loot worthless, I personally do not even loot dropped gear because its not worth it.  So to balance this they put in durablity, which is outrageously expensive, and they excplicitly said it was for a money sink to save the economy they destroyed.

I cancled my pre order and recommend others do the same, the game is beautiful and has alot of great content, but its crap.  Until they fix it, count me among the many disappointed fans.  I had such high hopes for this game, so this makes me a saaaaad panda.

Hey all, as of about 2 minutes ago, Beta 5 has started. Its not "completely" open per se quite yet though, we're going to be staggering the new testers coming in today, and then opening it up. We'll be sending out a press notice in a few minutes here too, and I will post that here when its out.

Anyway, what that means, is that the NDA is as of right now, lifted.

    Have fun, all.

Hmmm, my experience has been totally opposite of the above poster's. I have been in beta for months and, frankly, I don't mind the EE system one bit. It doesn't make loot worthless. In fact, I think it makes loot that is around your level or a bit above more valuable. Although I'm not an avid pvper, I can see this being very useful on those ruleset servers. You won't need to worry about being up against a similar level player who is decked out in level 50 gear when yours is of your level or so.

For those who are naysayers, this may not be the game for you. There are more choices than there used to be for MMOs. Pick another.

As for Vanguard, I will continue to test to release and play beyond, having fun with my friends. Before you class me as a ":Vanboi," number one, I'm not a boy. Second, there are definite flaws to the game that will need to be worked out before and after release. However, I'm not willing to put myself behind by waiting until those are dealt with to play.

Don't worry the game has been making LEAPS and BOUNDS in the past couple weeks!

I have been playing for a long time now in beta and the progress that has been made in the past few months has been great!

I have tested many mmo's and this game has been one of the much better ones and has by far had the best dev team!

There is content missing and there will be some missing content but who hasn't released an incomplete  game. This is very close to being completed and I cant wait to see the direction that this game goes in the next few years!

BTW my favorite mmo was NOT EQ NOR EQ2 so again MEH!

Hah, to cancel just because durability and EE was implemented (wich btw are great) just proves what an r tard you are.  Its not outrageously expensive to repair at all, it was a bug that made it way too expensive but thats been fixed now. Just look at SWG when they removed the durability, it completely killed the economy so please go play EQ or swg if you want a carebear easymode game

You are SO FOS it isn't even funny! The dropped weapons and armor ROCK and the EE system only effects you if you are trying to equip items 10 and 20 levels over you. Don't listen to this troll.

I'm not opposed to the EE system, but if you don't see how its f'd up the economy, you are blind.  Have you tried to sell any gear below rare?  I have, i've had alot of guildies who have, you can't do it unless ur willing to sell for as much as a vendor would buy it.

Want further proof? ask crafters, they got majorly hosed, they can't even sell their lower level weapons and gear they can make.  So no one is buying anything... so now players have a stockpile of money and nothing ot spend it on.  EE screwed up the economy and you'd have to be blind not to see it.

To add insult to injury, brad personally said he disliked durability because it was a poor game mechanic, now he back tracks and fully supports it.  THere is alot of internal bs, and its affecting the game greatly.

I never said they game wasn't beautiful, but they have a ton of work to do if they plan on having a loyal customer base, because i tell you what, i considered myself a fanboi, i was hyped and wasn't afraid to admit.  Now i'm losing my faith in their vision.

As a closed beta tester I also do NOT agree. This game rocks plain and simple. Its not perfect but no mmo is on release, its a evolving thing. To all those downloading atm, welcome to VG =)

PS.. I hope they add more servers for the open beta, 2 isnt gonna cover it lol

  • glad i got the pre order pack...key works and its updatig right now...and THAT is the bad part lol...Gotta wait it out..At this rate I should be able to test...ohhhhh...about 6am tommorrow lol

Please do explain how EE have fucked up the economy. As a crafter i still sell weapons and looted weapons, why wouldnt we be able to sell low level weapons? Do you even know what EE is and how it works?

They probably won't add more servers, open beta is a stress test mainly

    <edit>
Lol, a lot you know. Part of the reason crafters haven't been selling stuff is because of changes going on in crafting and bugs making it so we can't add dusts for stats to equipment. The EE system has increased demand for crafted armor and weapons because people need decent stuff at their level. Also, I know quite a few crafters that have been testing and experimenting, not necessarily crafting gear for sale. Things will be quite different on release and players will have a lot of choice between dropped and crafted gear.

tell that to the honor system that was promised...but missing for 6 months or so

or the classes that were changed on a monthly basis.

and countless other things i dont feel like going into

I know exactly how ee works, and like i said previously i'm not opposed to it, but they are looking for a way to fix the economy they broke, and EE broke it.

For those wondering what EE is, Its Eqipment Expertise, and I'll admit I like the system, essentially each piece of gear uses a percentage of EE depending on your level, so if you go roughly 6 levels above you you use a big portion of your EE you can only use 100%  if an item is greater then 20% you can't use said item.  Also the more rare the item is, the more the EE of it is.  Essentially you can't buy any gear probably about 6-10 levels above you, So saving your money up for that super rare weapon thats 15 levels above you isn't going to fly.

You also have tiered quests as you level, currently i'm a 35 cleric, and I have yet to buy one piece of gear, since i got most of mine from quests.  Inf armor quests are level 30ish gear and its by far better then anything you can buy, so from about level 25-35 you have not use buying any armor or gear at all, since you can quest it and camp armor quest pieces fairly easy.  At 30 theres another place to camp armor quests, hence no need to buy any gear, the only possibility of spending your money on gear would be to buy stuff outside your level range, and since not able to do so, you do the quests.  You buy nothing and actually gain a ton of money from the quests themselves.

People who say they are selling crap are either lieing their ass off, or are selling to newbs who don't know better yet.  So yes I know exactly what i'm talking about... So if no one is buying anything, the economy is screwed.  The dev silius even said they put in durability as a money sink.  Instead of lowering cash rewards and drops which would have been a better solution.  So now instead of gaining less coin, you are forced to run to town to fix your gear spending that extra coin you got as well as wasting time.

Currently the durability system needs to be heavily tweaked, i lose 1% durability per mob, which is expensive in the long run, especially when most of my gear is rare or higher.
